34 x Allah Hu Akbar

33 x AlhamduliAllah

33 x SubhanAllah

Q:-

1. What is the philosophy behind this tasbih?

2. Benefits?

3. Any hadiths relating to it?

once these questions are answered, I hope I will have a full understanding on the topic, thanks. :)

(salam),

Imam Ali said to a man from Bani Sa'eed:

...The Prophet (pbuh) upon hearing this, said:

`Shall I teach you something that is better for you than a servant and a world with everything in it? After every prayer say: Allahu Akbar thirty four (34) times, Alhamdulillah thirty three (33) times and Subhan Allah thirty three (33) times then conclude that with la illaha ila Allah. Surely this is better for you than that which you wanted and the world and its belongings.'

Thus, Fatima adhered to this glorification after every prayer; and it came to be known as `Tasbih Fatima.'

'Abu Haroun, surely we command our children to adhere to `Tasbih Fatima' the same way we command them to perform prayers. So perform the tasbih, for whoever adheres to it shall never be miserable.'"

- (Bihar al Anwar)

The Prophet (pbuh) also says, had there been a better tasbih, he would have taught it to Fatimah (as). - (Furu `ul Kafi, vol. 3, p. 343, "The Book of the Salat" ch. on "The After-the-Salat Du'a"', hadith 14.)

Imam as-Sadiq (as) is quoted to have said that these tasbihs every day after every salat are more loved by me than a thousand rak`ats of the salat every day. - (Biharul Anwar, vol. 83, p. 332, quoting Thawabul A'mal, p. 149. Wasa'ilush-Shi'ah, vol. 4. p. 1024, " The Book of as-Salat ", chs. on "After the-Salat Invocation", ch. 9, hadith 2.)

Imam Jafar AS Sadiq A.S. has said: “Any one who after the Wajib Salaat before moving the feet (changing the position) recites the Tasbih of Fatima Zahra A.S. then all of his/her sins will be forgiven and one should start the Tasbih with AllahuAkbar.”

Imam Muhammad Al Baqir A.S. has said: “One who recites the Tasbih as performed by Fatima Az Zahra A.S. and after that asks for forgiveness from Allah swt, he/she will be forgiven (by Allah). This Tasbih on the tongue (Dikr) is 100 times, but in weight on the scale (of deed) it is counted as one thousand (good deeds), it will distance Shaitan from one’s self, and will make the Beneficent (Allah) pleased.”

Also reported in Sunni ahadith:

Sahih Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 12, Number 804:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Some poor people came to the Prophet and said, "The wealthy people will get higher grades and will have permanent enjoyment and they pray like us and fast as we do. They have more money by which they perform the Hajj, and 'Umra; fight and struggle in Allah's Cause and give in charity." The Prophet said, "Shall I not tell you a thing upon which if you acted you would catch up with those who have surpassed you? Nobody would overtake you and you would be better than the people amongst whom you live except those who would do the same. Say "Sub-han-al-lah", "Alhamdu-lillah" and "Allahu Akbar" thirty three times each after every (compulsory) prayer." We differed and some of us said that we should say, "Subhan-al-lah" thirty three times and "Alhamdu lillah" thirty three times and "Allahu Akbar" thirty four times. I went to the Prophet who said, "Say, "Subhan-al-lah" and "Alhamdu lillah" and "Allahu Akbar" all together for thirty three times. (ignore the message the hadith carries; it's Abu Huraira after all ;) )

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 75, Number 341:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The people said, "O Allah's Apostle! The rich people have got the highest degrees of prestige and the permanent pleasures (in this life and the life to come in the Hereafter)." He said, "How is that?" They said, "The rich pray as we pray, and strive in Allah's Cause as we do, and spend from their surplus wealth in charity, while we have no wealth (to spend likewise)." He said, "Shall I not tell you a thing, by doing which, you will catch up with those who are ahead of you and supersede those who will come after you; and nobody will be able to do such a good deed as you do except the one who does the same (deed as you do). That deed is to recite 'Subhan Allah ten times, and 'Al-Hamdulillah ten times, and 'AllahuAkbar' ten times after every prayer. (same  )

Sahih Bukhari: Volume 7, Book 64, Hadith Number 275.

Narated 'Ali bin Abi Talib

Fatima came to the Prophet asking for a servant. He said, "May I inform you of something better than that? When you go to bed, recite "Subhan Allah' thirty three times, 'Alhamdulillah' thirty three times, and 'Allahu Akbar' thirty four times. 'Ali added, 'I have never failed to recite it ever since." Somebody asked, "Even on the night of the battle of Siffin?" He said, "No, even on the night of the battle of Siffin."
