As-Sallamu-Alaykom,

Rather than studying for my Taming of the shrew test, I decided to watch the movie ‘’313’’ the movie, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Has anyone else watched it and if so what did you think, did you like it?

Sallam

If anyone wants the link to the movie feel free to ask

WA wr wb..

the lesson was pretty good, although this movie seemed a bit too 'hollywoodish' for me and not geared toward the religious crowd. i think this movie can come off as disrespectful to have the name of 313 and associating it with shia and our Imam with all the added nonsense they show in the movie. i'd watch it once for free, i wouldn't pay for it.

Wait, Is this okay to watch for free?

Have the producers asked for a price to watch this movie, or is this a donation based movie?

Their official website was confusing because they ask for donations but then they are charging 15 euros for a dvd + shipping??

To be honest I dont know if it is halal or haraam but I do know that they didnt appreciate someone placing it on u tube. They made a loss and free viewing in the long run harms future productions being made.

As-Sallamu-Alaykom,

Smiley I do agree that it is time well spent, and the movie is certainly though provoking, my only problem would be this: A movie which has a religious back tone should not only interest followers of religion but also atheist and agnostic. For me personally if I was not a Muslim I don’t think I would be to into the film. A movie especially such as this which is dealing with such a important topic should be a movie for a Muslim and non Muslims alike. These are my opinions only and I am sure there are those who would disagree.

Gogilson I didn’t get that it was to hollywoodish, but then again it is possible I have a different interpretation of what a Hollywood movie is.

To me a Hollywood movie is a movie with a absolutely huge budget with action scenes or an all star cast. It is not hard to notice that the movie was quite underfunded (unless I am wrong) and the first scene that shoots into my mind is when Laith first goes into the sheikhs house and we see the house from his point of view the shaky camera and the fuzzy screen made a alarm go off into my head saying underfunded film. That is my opinion

The action was okay at best (my opinion) the first scene which shoots into my mind (out of about 100) is the scene where Laith saves the Arab Christian from being raped, you would expect her to be up and about, but she was a calm as could be, if you watch it or anyone who reads this wait until that scene and tell me is that is not the worst acting you have ever seen. She was saved from those monsters by a stranger yet her voice still stayed in monotone.

I also noticed that Laith was reading Kitab Al-Irshad and if anyone sees my other posts you will get the significance (lol).

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS --------------------

Laith sees the sheikh who looks to be in perfect health three days later he dies from cancer that he has had for about a year or so. Unbelievable or what, I mean that crossed me as quite stupid, at least have a good time slot up and until he died, or something else, the sudden death by cancer was okay for me. To articulate my point from above, I think to have a janitor/ angel only appeals to Muslims but not to others which I think any religious film should avoid doing

I have school in about five minutes so in summary

I love the movie thought it was great, a good movie with a good message in my opinion can erase the bad acting from my mind. Would watch it again and would definitely recommend it for anyone.

If what you say is true, then this movie was made with the purpose of making money...

When you look at all the TV shows that have been made, and which are really big budget, get shared for free on the net with the consent of the creators, then you truly get the feeling someone is out to please Allah.

If the movie was free, and it really inspired me o be a better Muslim, I would be willing to give anything I can to support it. To force Payment for something religious is weird in my view, but I am no expert. I know that earning a living is a MUST in islam, so charging for the movie is not bad because it is a form of them wanting to earn a living...

I don't know.

Peace.
