Shia YouTube Pages Suspended!

These were by far two of the best Shia youtube pages out there, and I am pretty sure all of us have watched something from these two channels at one time or another. A few others have been suspended as well.

Does anyone know what happened?

(salam)

Bismillah,

Salaam Alaykum, inshAllah this message finds you in the best of health and imaan.

The reason that our videos are no longer available, both on Youtube and Al-Masumeen, is due to the fact that our Youtube account (lostprophet786) has been suspended due to multiple attacks which we received by people we believe to be Muslims, yes, I repeat, our account has been attacked by fellow Muslims, and it saddens me just thinking about it.

We are looking to fix this issue soon, but it will take a few weeks to do so. Downloads are still available, but viewing videos will be a problem.

We will inshAllah put a notice up on our website informing the viewers why videos are not available.

This is a sad situation we are facing, that a Muslim website, doing the best it can to promote the teachings of the Prophet (saw), is attacked, ruined and vandalised by... other Muslims!

Pray for our speedy success, especially in this month of Ramadhan.

In need of your prayers.

lostprophet786, shadowfax121 and other accounts are now up. Let's not jump to conclusions, or spread ideas (like "Salafis and Wahabis hacked/control YouTube") that we don't know are true. YouTube has millions (billions?) of users & videos, let's be reasonable and know things can go wrong at times (Imam Ali a.s.: Perfection is not of this world).

What kind of name is lostprophet786??

Either it is a terrable english mistake or I am missing something here. Why would we call our Prophet (pbuh) lost?

it is confusing but it means that humans have forgotten the ways of how the prophet PBUHP lived....something like that

actually what is going on is that their are teams of sunni/shia youtubers who are flagging and reporting each others videos in order to get one another's accounts blocked/suspended...i personally think this is pathetic and immature, but its deffinetly going on and its been happening for years,

however the overwelming number of hate videos (which consist of lies, propaganda, violence against shia"s) have been posted by the wahabis, and we all know they are the source of fitna...

I remember I once I had a youtube page with Iranian military videos

There was a series of interviews with Sardar Amini (then IRIAF commander) that I had uploaded. And one day I go to youtube and they say that one of them had been deleted due to terms of use violation! What are the chances that they actually knew what was being said in the interview (to pass judgement on whether or not it violated the terms of use)? Moreover, it was part #2 of a 3 part series (because youtube has a 10 minute limit for video clips I divided it in three). Why did they delete only one and not the other two?

Anyway I was so confused and annoyed by what they did that I canceled my account.

Thank you, United States of Fascist America.

This wasn't just some random happenstance, and it goes beyond trite wahhabi conspiracies... See this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUn3gE4bncg&feature=video_response

& read this:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/12/AR2008091202364.html

So essentially, if there's anything on any Shia channel even remotely connected with Hamas or Hezbollah or the IRI, no matter how harmlessly, backlash shouldn't come as a surprise. And even in the event that a channel is totally innocuous like some mentioned and only features duas, Qur'anic recitations, etc., if it gets reported enough under claims of 'inciting homegrown terrorism' by some troublemaker, it's going down. Anything Islam-related is fair game for the censors right now, and the risk is probably 100x higher for Shi'as given the US's particularly sour feelings toward the groups we tend to favor.

If there are indeed wahhabis taking advantage of Youtube's possible proclivity to anti-Islamic censorship by targeting and reporting Shi'a users, they need to calm down and think twice because all they're doing is fueling the fascism. Lieberman is already patting himself on the back for this one and insisting that the crackdown isn't hard enough... if Youtube finds itself with thousands of reports against 'dangerous' Islamic videos, it'll translate to more reasons to be wary of Islam-related uploads in the future, and they aren't going to stop to worry about your school of thought. Sooner or later, I wouldn't be surprised if Islamic uploads started getting automatically delayed to go through a screening process, or even banned altogether.

So essentially, if there's anything on any Shia channel...

Stop the scare-mongering, the word 'Shia' in fact doesn't even appear on the pages you listed.

Also, the videos and account in question are back online (do you see this as a change of heart, or would you say, maybe the all-powerful senator Lieberman wanted these videos back?), what are you trying to achieve here?

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off that way. :) My intention isn't to fear monger, I just want people to be aware of what's going on so they can join me in objecting to it. When I said 'if there's anything on any Shia channel' connected with the aforementioned groups, I didn't mean they had to be exclusively Shia or that that was the deciding factor... just that Shias are logically more likely to have pro-Hizb & IRI videos.

Also, the videos and account in question are back online (do you see this as a change of heart, or would you say, maybe the all-powerful senator Lieberman wanted these videos back?), what are you trying to achieve here?

Yeah, I'm aware they've been back online for quite a while now (alhamdulillah, LostProphet was one of the first channels I subscribed to when I joined youtube)! This is because thankfully, Google & Youtube aren't bending entirely to Lieb's agenda and would not let requests to double-check the legitimacy of account suspensions go unanswered. Did Youtube edit its community guidelines in response to Lieberman's requests? Yes. Is Youtube about to throw its users under the bus in favor of pleasing a feisty old neocon? No. ^_^

As far as the last question... I simply want people to know what's going on so they're not in the dark about this stuff. I'm sorry if my tone sounded overly harsh or alarmist, I was just really furious when I read about Lieberman's direct attempts to attack "Islamist" videos. I'm not advocating that people should stop uploading Shia media; on the contrary, I want them to know what SOB senator to refer to when mailing complaints to youtube if this sort of thing should happen again.

Two videos on my youtube channel were favorited from Haideri4Eva and they were missing today. The warning message said: This video is no longer available because the YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated due to multiple third-party notifications of copyright infringement from claimants. There was only one claimant who made three complaints. I guess it is three complaints and you are out!
