it might have been "compiled" by usman (or by a commitee during his caliphate that he had no role in), but i know my maulas handwriting - that is imam ali (as) handwriting, it was unique due to the distinctive long yet perfectly straight elongated letters.

they cannot hide the truth from shias. "usman" my arse.

I thought the oldest copies were discovered in San3a, the Yaman a few years back? They were found in a cache in a wall or something. The style was dated to the rule of al-Walid I but radiocarbon shows they could be as old as some forty years before that.

maula dha mallang. i just thought i'd say i found what you said offensive.

Uthman didn't write the Quran though it is said during his caliphate the Quran was compiled as a book by Zaid and Ali and other "noble" companions, this was due to suggestions made to Uthman because of confusion of dialect and word pronounciations (according to a book i read). So he helped distribute the copies due to his caliphate so apparently the Quran we have today is known as the Uthmani script.

God knows best.

Salam
