Read about this in newspaper yesterday I think. It said 1000 people protested outside Jannatul Baqi when they closed it on usual timing. The people still wanted to go inside but were stopped... I wondered if it were shia and turns out to be shia...

Shiites protest in Saudi after violence

RIYADH (AFP) — Shiite Muslims held protests in eastern Saudi Arabia after an outbreak of violence between Shiite pilgrims and religious police in Medina, a Shiite human rights activist said on Wednesday.

Hundreds of people joined two protests late on Tuesday near the city of Qatif in Eastern Province, Ibrahim Mugaiteeb of the Human Rights First Society told AFP.

Mugaiteeb said anti-riot forces sought to break up the demonstrations but there were no initial reports of injuries or arrests.

The protests followed an outbreak of violence between Shiite pilgrims and security forces in the Muslim holy city of Medina in western Saudi Arabia late Monday.

The interior ministry said nine people were arrested in the violence near Al-Baqi cemetery adjacent to the Prophet Mohammed's mosque, which attracts millions of pilgrims every year.

According to accounts from Saudi Shiite Muslims, the pilgrims were angered when Sunni religious police made videos of Shiite women in their group last week, and the dispute boiled over into violence Monday near the holy sites.

"People are really angry," Mugaiteeb said by telephone, noting that few Saudi Muslims of any confession accept women being photographed or filmed without permission.

Interior ministry spokesman General Mansur al-Turki confirmed on Tuesday that nine people were arrested in Medina on Monday, but denied Internet and foreign media reports that one or more people had died in the violence.

"The security authorities will issue a statement later to clarify what happened, the nationalities of the participants in the fight and their motives, once the investigation is over," Turki said.

Shiites account for only about 10 percent of the Muslim population of Saudi Arabia, which is dominated by an ultra-conservative version of Sunni Islam.

Some Saudi Sunni clerics deride Shiites as Muslim rejectionists, but recent government initiatives have sought to bridge the sectarian divide, most recently King Abdullah's decision last week to name several new Shiite members to the kingdom's consultative Shura Council.

Human Rights First condemned the attack on the pilgrims, calling on the government to launch an investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.

It looks like they are all being inspired, learned from Sadr City and Basra struggle against the Al Maliki installed regime.

Again you link the things that have nothing to do with each others...

Sadr and Maliki are living in a country which is invaded, sectarian wars going on, and they are in a process of making a government and building a country. So, both may make mistakes, like other parties and figures..

What is happening in Saudi Arabia is way different... they are used to ignore Shias and their rights and their presence... a history of oppression, discrimination, assassination, brutality, and ethnic-cleansing, ... the same way in Bahrain to a lower limit...

There is no other party, group of mass public except Sadr & Dismantled Mehdi Militia who will fit on all of your definitions whether they were being ruled by a Takfeeri Saddam or a Shi`iete Sharon Al Maliki.

Sadr Supporters are being oppressed, discriminated, brutally targeted, assassinated in airstrikes and pushed to leave Government and dismantle Militia by Al Maliki's Forces of Evil. History will never forget Al Maliki. His future will not be different then Shah of Iran, Saddam Lai`ien, USraelie Sharon , Bin Netan Yahu.

The day last US soldier will be out, the last US Military Base is closed , will be the fall of all regional installed, funded, dictated regimes whether it's Saudi Arab, Kuwait, Bahrain or Iraq.

Bro, you are exaggerating in most of the points you make.. and seriously there was no connection in this case and Iraqis.. but you keep insisting..

Please, don't fall in the propaganda of Baathists.. You fit in a good definition of a "Shia Baathist" who can't wait for American's departure and a start of another chaos in Iraq, encouraging groups such as Sadr's to fight other groups and divide the country...eventually keep the dreams of bringing back the old Baathist and Saddamist dogs to power, then as a little Shia-Baathist get a position in one of Mukhbarat's sectors and spy and kill his own relatives.

Do not try to describe good and evil, right and wrong, up and down from the perspective of your empty emotional point of views!

Listen respected Bro:

Its Americans who have pushed, dictated Al Maliki to bring back Baathists in burning Baghdad, in whatever ways Al Maliki took stand, either he is being forced to withdraw decisions or deny his own statements" Remember when he said I am not Washington's Man in Baghdad"

Either that statement was for public consumption to get public sympathy, support to show he himself is against the aggression.

If your type of Knowledgeable users think that Americans will leave Baghdad to Shias after pulling out, its your dream. Obama has been forced by PENTAGON/NEGROPONT to keep at least 50,000 Combat troops on ground even after their so-called drum beated pullout.

Both Baghdad and As Sharqyah-Saudia need courageous acts like Hizb attack on Shaytanic marines which killed 180 soldiers.

what i find amazingly crazy...is having these oppressed shia in saudi suffering yet at the same time u have shia Iran closing hundreds millions of dollars in trade deals with saudi arabia. What is Irans response to this?

No, its Turkey. Saudia invited them to invest in many sectors. Iran is more close to Hammas and Hizb then Ash Sharqiyah Shias!

Saudi Cleric: Aggression against Shiites violates Islamic morals, HRs

By: Abdulali

AL-QATIF, Saudi Arabia: In an appeal posted Monday on his

Web site, Sheik Hassan as-Saffar, a prominent Shiite cleric,

said the treatment of Shiites at Al-Baqee cemetery violates

"Islamic morals and human rights" and the tolerance called for

by an interfaith conferences hosted by king a few months ago.

When contacted by The Associated Press, as-Saffar's office

confirmed the statement.

"Visitors are generally harshly treated ... and prayer books are

confiscated," said as-Saffar, adding that this makes pilgrimages

and religious visits "subject to sectarian tensions."

The hypocrite king of Saudi yet hosted the interfaith conference

There is no Gurantee, area reserved as walkways itself have prophets grave underneath. Respect/honor is in hearts and minds and sub-continent has enormous respect due to their mixed culture with Hindus.

The two sacred Mosques The House of Allah, Ka'ba and the city of the prophet Mohammad (scw)

the praises of Allah are celebrated and His Name is glorified

People who are obsessed with "AhlulBaiyt" can go to Karbala and Najaf

You didn't get the point here! Lets note some facts here

It is about "Just and Unjust"

It is about Shia citizens rights in every aspect of life in Saudi, Bahrain, Egypt...

They are treated as subhumans...

They have no rights to worship... or practice their faith...

Iran is 93% Shia, majority, yet I just read yesterday that SUNNIS from all over Iran gathered in their large mosque and center in Zahidan to hold conferences and gatherings.

Farsi Source By sunni-news.com

Sunnis have Sunni schools and centers for religious studies...

They call Shias Kafir and the Iranian government as unislamic and heretic...

They accuse all Iranian politicians as hypocrite and the system corrupt..

They do all the dirty works in the country, "Drug smuggling, going after Shia youths to spread heroin addictions and taking advantages of poor girls to get them to prostitution and transfer them to the Emirates"

Creating mistrust amongst Shias, people and the government..

Helping outsider Sunnis to commit terrorist acts and kill Shia Iranians and gov. officials or take them hostages sending them to Pakistan

Receiving funds from Saudi Arabia, America, MKO, and the exiled group of pro-Shah people.

And yet they always complain of not having a mosque in Tehran where no single Sunni lives there...

AND after all those... the Sunnies are still not prevented from having their ways, their ways of worship and politics.

BUT, in Egypt, Shias are not even allowed to build a mosque.

In Bahrain where Shias make up the majority, they can't have a Shia school to educated people in religion and each time they build a big mosque, the government refuses to recognise it and not allowing it.

In Saudi, where Shias (Imamia and Ismailia) make up around 20% of the population, they are denied almost everything,

not only that, but the Sunni government is always after Shias in every move, preventing them to pray, preventing them to walk the way they want, or breath the way they want to..

While Shias are not involved in any kinds of dirty work in the country against the other citizens, unlike Saudi-Sunni dirty networks, the Shias in those countries do not have any link with the Iranian government, but still they are always accused of being Iranian lackeys..

Sunnis in Iran are Suffering:

Could you bring a proof, not a video from the trashcan of youtube by some Sunni users who have no life but editing and placing unrelated pictures and subjects to make a video?

The video starts with a lie: The Baloch guy calls himself Al-Farsi..

It highlights all the Arab, Kurdish, Baloch and Turkmen regions and name them Sunni regions.

While in reality, Iranian Arabs are majority Shia, and the other 3 regions are mixed Shia-Sunni regions. Sunnis are not 1/3 of the population, but 3-7% of the country's population.

Admins/Mods: We follow the rules of your Forum, but seems you don't follow your own rules. The video this guy posted declares all Shia Iranians on the map as "Shia .... and Shia Majosi" Can I get away with it too by bringing similar videos and calling all Sunnis names and proofs that they are all illegitimate sons of their fathers?

Mummy, the problems began when a Salafist started videotaping women. There is no justification for this kind of animal behaviour (beating up of people because they want the tape seized) as you know. Videotaping pilgrims' wives because you are sexually frustrated and cannot interact with women or see them is very difficult but Shiites visiting your country are not responsible for this.

Also, in Iran only two weeks ago over 300 Iranian Sunni scholars attended Rahimpour Azghadi's lecture on Sunni and Shia Islam, some of them were interviewed and praised the revolution, in addition to Imam Khamanei's leadership. Sunni's in Iran have over 3000 mosques and over a thousand religious schools. This is not called oppression, this is your schizophrenic box of in a few braincells that cannot research anything your Salafite establishment tells you.

Also what you are programmed to think

Shiites worship graves

Shiism comes from a Jew

Shiites worship Ali

Shiites worship rocks

Strange how we know so much about you eh?

two wrongs do not make it right. what Saudis did was completely wrong but what is being done by shia kids in the video link i posted is also not something we should support as shias. That's clearly not showing respect to the graves at jannat ul baqi. It is sad that this the way we want others too see us chanting slogans of people we love and respect and follow and what are we doing .. making kids go and pick up mud from graves and run back n forth there are better wyas of getting our protest rehistered and our message sent out to the world. do you think sunnis who love Imam hussain and prophets family would be still in our support group if they saw this video. it gives the wrong message a wrong image - An image i do not want to be associated with. I'm a proud shia and i want it to stay like that I don't want to be questioned about my faith and my beliefs because some shia kid decided to go run crazy at the jannat ul baqi . this is not how this should have been done.

mummy , those kids where trying to take the mud , grave soil, to their mothers cuz saudis dont allow women to get in cemetry

and no one is saying they are not wrongly doing it , but this is indivisual mistake

what we have in saudi is that wahabi invent things to justefy their opression , killing, beating , humilating to us all the time

which keep us always alert to anything that might make approtunity to them to do so

what happen in baqi though was that women being exclusivly vedioed by wahabi is a suspicoise action so 5 members of her family went to ask him to give them the tape , he refused and the police took the five to jail

poeple got mad cuz they had enough of that

and i think wahabis worked it out to made them mad cuz their was a group ready for mad shia with white weapon

many were stapped and injured

for your own sake : dont belive any wahabi untill it is proven other wise

After Bahrain Khalifa surrenderd to the Shi`iete's regional power, we are getting the news that Saudi Shi`ietes want to make their own tiny oil estate due to their region is not getting any attention from the Saudi Salafic empire and they still live in a very poor condition.

Firebrand preacher Nimr al-Nimr, who breached a taboo to suggest in a sermon that Shi'ites could one day seek their own separate state.

"Graffiti like this underscores the fact that moderate Shi'ites are losing influence on public opinion,""Nimr was only expressing what the majority here feels ... While the option of secession is not on the table, you cannot stop people from thinking about it,"

said Nasrallah al-Faraj, a Shi'ite from Awwamiya who is among hundreds who have signed a petition asking police to stop their search for Nimr.

Several Shi'ite clerics and community leaders, including Sheikh Hassan al-Saffar, have tried to calm the situation down, issuing a statement rejecting Nimr's secession call.

"We reiterate our commitment to the unity of the beloved homeland and reject any ... threat to its unity or cohesion, standing as one behind our wise leadership,"

they said after a meeting with Interior Minister Prince Nayef last month.
