If I Should Die This Night?

If I should lay down in slumber this night

My soul then taken by He who has the Right

My life all laid out, sins now in plain sight

With nowhere to run to, no power to fight

So stained and unclean my soul is this eve

So dirty my heart is, unworthy of reprieve

Instead my heart now left helpless to grieve

Recollection of my deeds then all I could see

I sat by in silence while injustice had flourished

Small children's rights and lives were demolished

While I was cowering in fear of being admonished

No doubt deserving my soul to be punished

"If only I did more!" I would lament and cry

Instead of letting all of my time pass by

Not standing up for justice, with no excuse why?

Surely this night is the worst time to die..

very clever,

its all good and well, we recogniise what we should do, question is how many of us do somethin about it.

I agree! It breaks my heart to see our ummah so empathetic.. to the extent that I feel like going to all the Muslims who are asleep and slapping them until they wake up..

May Allah give me patience and give us all guidance inshaALLAH..

This is the problem. Silence. If only we shake ourselves up. Stop. Look. Raise our voices against oppression a beginning can be made. And this we have to do individually so that it becomes a collective responsibility by and by.

Great attempt. Makes you think.

May Allah swt reward you all..

I really try hard to create a difference, and people say I do enough.. But it can never be enough, not while there is injustice in the world.. Even if there were only one oppressed child left I wouldn't stop.. May Allah give me the strength inshaALLAH

That's the spirit! Keep going...

If only we Muslims used pens instead of Kalashnikovs ... sigh! I'm with you brother in this jihad. Good luck!

Assalaamu Alaikumm,

I thank you all for your comments and may Allah swt reward you all..

I think I might have to clarify my position on this comment though..

I believe that the pen is indeed important.. As is diplomacy and a peaceful solution if can be reached.. however I do also believe that sometimes violent resistance is necessary to defend ones life, land, religion and freedom from oppression.. It is everyone's born right to live in peace, security and prosperity and not be oppressed from another and while no doubt the peaceful solution is the best, there is no obligation to be peaceful with those who are not peaceful with you.. You cannot beat a person senseless and then blame them for hitting you back.. That is oppression and just a tool that oppressors use to take your right to defense away from you..

However I will say that as Muslims, every one of our actions is supposed to be for Da'wah, from the way we eat, the cleanliness of our hygene, the neat appearance of our clothing, the eloquence and love in our speech and even the freshness of our breath are supposed to attract people to us and Islam.. As is the way we fight.. If we have to resort to fighting in combat against oppression then we have to do so not with hate for our enemy, but hate for oppression.. and even when we fight we do it for the sake of Allah.. not for our own lusts.. when we fight we fight honorably, with dignity and respect. We don't kill innocent people nor rape, pillage nor create oppression..

The example of Ali :as: is a perfect example of this, had he killed the man who spat in his face he'd have done it in anger, not for the sake of Allah.
