pent 4 2.2 GHz from 2001/2002

512 MB RAM

NVIDIA GEForce 7300 GT 128bit

i upgraded the video card once a couple years ago, my current one is much quieter than the nvidia i had before. the performance-to-value ratio was impressive at the time, i think it was around $80.

is my processor that upgradable? i have noticed the speeds are not much different these days, is the new architecture significantly better? i figured i could increase the memory for cheap. the computer is fairly old (jan 2002), but it was relatively fast when i bought it. it is a dell and i have been real impressed. never had a hardware problem, and even now i would consider it an acceptable speed.

that new video card really increased my comp's performance against CivIV. this game believe it or not demands everything from your system (according to forums, even high-end systems get a workout), especially in the late game with modern megacities and modern warfare.

so what do you think, ram or processor for playing that new farcry?

I think u should more concentrate with RAM and add it up to 1GB judging by ur prefer to strategic gameplay such as CivIV. it's increase a lot if u make it up to 2GB. for game like RTS or turn-based strategy like CvIV, one thing u should know is put ur focus on CPU and RAM. but if you're more action player like far cry 2 or cod5, video card plays vital role for ur performance and for this recent generation, 8800 (Nvidia) or HD3800 series (AMD/ATI) is recommended. with those videocard, it would dramatically increase ur framerates

I've finished Far Cry 2. i give 8.9/10. the ending quite intriguing

Now, FALLOUT 3

Yeah I've read L4D is quite good. I haven't been looking for new games since a while, which is a great thing that can happen according to my book. I'm playing Age of Conan, Sins of a Solar Empire and, for my "shoot 'em up" cravings I play Far Cry 2. :)

Fallout 3 and the new Crysis 2 remain uninstalled for now and reside in my drawer while giving me the great satisfaction that my gaming needs are all set up for a good while into the future which is good and in "safe hands". :)

P.S.: Please tell me Far Cry 2 gets a dramatic twist to its story after a while, something like a sudden alien invasion over africa and all the militant factions unite to fight em or something? :)

Man, Far Cry 2 is so frustrating - the mouse sensitivity sucks!

Bro I think you need a better mouse with more resolution -- something made with gaming in mind. I have a Razer Copperhead. But I don't necessarily recommend it. There are plenty of gaming mice out there and you should take your pick. :)

Opps..i dunt want to spoiled it though. apart with its repetitive missions, i think Far cry 2 has good replay value coz it's open-ended game. and the ending, yeah, there's dramatic twist but not too bleaky, quite satisfied though. <this is my subjective opinion>

anyways, for Fallout 3, having play it in 4 hours, it seem a bits Bioshock's devastated retro-culture environment + Elder Scroll's engine and gameplay. i can't make any further comment since im not finish it.

Haha...yeh im wondering the same thing bro

don't you guys trip on the magic and such? i remember playing morrowind years ago, and after enchanting one too many of my swords, i said enough, this is just wrong. i know it is all make believe and everything, but it just gave me a weird feeling. have you guys ever gotten that feeling where it is like you are doing shirk? is the fact that i don't actually believe in it enough to make the difference?

You know I couldn't play Fallout 3 much either, although I consider myself a proper Fallout fan. I suspect its my old problem of not enjoying games having the elder scrolls' engine again. B) Its weird. But I do intend to go ahead and try to end the game some time in the future some day...

(salam)

If I had the time, I'd get PS3.

1. NBA 2K9 and NBA Live for the dunk off PS3

2. Call of Duty 4 - Modern warfare ..deleted it, got a little boring but think'n of re-installing. - PC

3. Shadow of the Collosus - for PS2 still a sick game.

4. Civilization - Sid Meiers.. sick game but a time killer.

5. Red Alert 2 .. perhaps Generals but never played it.

Guys if you don't like or hate video games, please don't let us know in this thread, thanks. :)

What I'm playing these days: (basically, replaying older games)

- Silent Hunter 3 + GWX supermod. WWII era submarine simulation perhaps the best there is, historically accurate campaign, highly immersive, makes it somewhat like living Das Boot movie. Recommended for simulation fans.

- Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Tactical/Military shooter.

- UFO Afterlight. If you have played the old XCOM/UFO games by Microprose, this one is recommended for you.

I've completed Fallout 3 and I think its my kind of a game. Shooting ghouls while listening to GNR radio is soo my thing!... I'm playing again and this time I'm exploring each thing and doing every quest. Next on the gaming menu are its expansions. I'm very happy to have left the enslaving mmorpg's, I knew that the single player games would always be a lot more convenient and interesting. They just need to keep up the good work and keep giving us quality titles imo. :)

Hmm guys are playing pretty boring shooting or strategy games. I mostly play Wii with my family. Exercising on Wii Fit (since I don't go to the gym :P), playing Mario Kart with my son, Mario Galaxy, Harvest Moon.. or playing The Sims 3 on my laptop with my son..

thats pretty much it :)
