Eh - my PC is made of failure and lose, so I can only retro-game it and play games that were made like pre-2004, or else my comp can't handle the graphics...

Red Alert 1 - An oldie, but a goodie. One of the first great games of its genre, Red Alert is a real time strategy game that pits the USSR against NATO in a fictional alternate time line where Hitler never rose to power.

Hearts of Iron 2: Doomsday - Not a game for those who put much value on graphics, this game gives you a large map of the world to conquer, containing nearly 1500 'provinces' in all, and several dozen playable nations during the WWII era. This game is incredibly addicting once you get the hang of all the menus and such.

Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots - Another RTS, you choose one of several dozen nations and progress it from an Ancient World civilization to a modern nation of the Information age, all the while staving off attacks from imperialist powers, and most likely taking out a few smaller countries to build your own empire.

This game is also highly mod-able, and has a fairly large online community.

Anyone else excited by the thought of Gears of War 2? That is the hardest game I've ever played, hands down. Merciless. And the revamped graphics and storyline and the smoother combat of the second chapter look something amazing.

I'm playing Age of Conan again. :)

I never liked blood and gore in games, but now I somehow like it. Perhaps its because AoC makes it too interesting and realistic with its fatality animation system? Now it makes me laugh each time I brutally hack someone to pieces in pvp (player versus player) combat. And I only kill those who deserve it. There are different kinds of fatality animations, and for a melee, especially barbarian, the fatalities are particularly brutal and bloody.

Despite this game being great fun, more fun than any MMO I've played (something even more captivating, worthy and beautifully interesting as the Pre-TBC expansion game in World of Warcraft), I do not really recommend it, yet. There are some technical problems with the game, as there are with any new MMO. When these problems are ironed out, I would definitely recommend this game to everyone. Right now they're patching the game servers to fix some of those technical issues (hopefully).

I have Fallout 3, Farcray 2, and the new Crysis games and I haven't even installed them to check them out. Because AoC is that good. :D (I did play some Farcry 2, pretty game). I don't know but a good MMO is always more addictive than the best single player games.

I play on european realm servers (Corinthia server - RP-PvP). If someone wants to try out the game, send me a PM and I'll remember you when I get a buddy key (invitation for friends). However, don't bother if your internet is slow because you will probably have to download the whole 25 GB of the game, unless you can arrange its full release DVD. Also, the game needs a powerful gaming rig and a DX10 capable card (soon -- they've almost implemented it).

yeah...game which less demanding hardware was few these days. I think it's better off if you upgrade the processor and VGA to prevent bottleneck. core 2 duo family with latest GeForce and ATI graphic card will suffice.

nevertheless, RAM is vital part if u wanna upgrading ur computer

pent 4 2.2 GHz from 2001/2002

512 MB RAM

NVIDIA GEForce 7300 GT 128bit

i upgraded the video card once a couple years ago, my current one is much quieter than the nvidia i had before. the performance-to-value ratio was impressive at the time, i think it was around $80.

is my processor that upgradable? i have noticed the speeds are not much different these days, is the new architecture significantly better? i figured i could increase the memory for cheap. the computer is fairly old (jan 2002), but it was relatively fast when i bought it. it is a dell and i have been real impressed. never had a hardware problem, and even now i would consider it an acceptable speed.

that new video card really increased my comp's performance against CivIV. this game believe it or not demands everything from your system (according to forums, even high-end systems get a workout), especially in the late game with modern megacities and modern warfare.

so what do you think, ram or processor for playing that new farcry?

I think u should more concentrate with RAM and add it up to 1GB judging by ur prefer to strategic gameplay such as CivIV. it's increase a lot if u make it up to 2GB. for game like RTS or turn-based strategy like CvIV, one thing u should know is put ur focus on CPU and RAM. but if you're more action player like far cry 2 or cod5, video card plays vital role for ur performance and for this recent generation, 8800 (Nvidia) or HD3800 series (AMD/ATI) is recommended. with those videocard, it would dramatically increase ur framerates
