What Video Game Are You Playing These Days?

Lets share the news! lol

By the way, please warn if the game you're playing is crappy since there seems to be an onslaught of them these days. Thank you.

I'm playing, or have recently played:

- Jericho (Good): First person shooter in DX10 with nice graphics and a good story. However, you might find the gore and diabolical details disturbing. So play a demo or read a review!

- Age of Conan (Average): MMO. I thought this would be my escape from WoW. Although a generally nice looking game at times, it lacks the polish that was needed to keep my long MMO career afloat.

- Sins of a solar empire (Good): A great strategy game (in space). Very balanced and fun. Free of unnecessary complications which is something rare for such games. Quite addictive too. Reminds me of the Starcraft days.

- Medieval 2 Total War: Crusades (Good): The expansion with some fixes and exciting new content. Good stuff. I love beating up the Templars playing as Saladin. @)

It's not an expansion, it's a full game, you play as "Psycho" from the first game, on the other side of the island, differents missions, etc.

CoD-4 is the best shooter around. Evar. Soooo good, I want to have CoD-5 already...

Jericho is pretty fun, but yeah, it's only good, not great. I like the horror, but the gameplay itself is nothing compared to CoD. Scary as heck, though - if you like horror, you'll love it.

I like tabletop RPGs over electronic ones, but *shrug* what can you do?

It's been a long time since I play games...

But, I'm waiting for Fallout 3 because I'm impressed with Fallout & Fallout 2...

To be very honest, I have little hope in Fallout 3 being that great. The new developer, Bethesda (or is it Bioware?), is using Oblivion engine for it. These games, Oblivion and Morrowind, only appeal to a certain, smaller minority among gamers. Its vast, empty spaces in the world that serve no purpose in my humble opinion, that ruin the immersion and the overall experience of it.

Developers today over emphasize on the excessive beautification of the ingame and get carried away with that because maximum utilization of all the powerful new computer hardware and graphics technology and filling up of all those GB's of RAM is deemed most important for their game to be successful, while the heart and soul of the game itself is not polished at all and often ignored these days.

Then they wonder why most games produced these days have no replayability. I'll tell you why. Because it had graphics as good as a real life movie, but a "soulless" movie that you watch just once.

This is another sign of too much materialism in people nowadays and the gaming industry is not an exception. They could develop a new engine for Fallout 3 and start from scratch, but no, they had to use oblivion engine to save on programming costs and because it has shiny graphics and thats what all the kiddies want. Everyone wants to sell their [Edited Out] and become millionaires.

But anyway, lets hope the Fallout series doesn't end like this.

Nah. Just kidding. I play World of Warcraft most of the time when I want to play games, I was thinking the other day on getting Warhammer Online or Age of Conan, but they both seem so lacking. Other than that my favourites include the whole Splinter Cell series at number one, Syphon Filter, Metal Gear Solid, Assassin's Creed, Gears of War, Final Fantasy, Fable, Call of Duty and any beat 'em up game that has to do with existing anime series.

Although I rarely have time for them these days :(

Respectfully, do you know how many people there are in this world who play video games and are not fans of Elder Scrolls or such games? :) Take this thread as an example.

Please don't get me wrong. Let me tell you why. For some reason I see no point in watching my stamina bar drop as I sprint through miles of desolate terrain only to climb a lone hill somewhere in the beautiful landscape, find skeletons inside to beat up, steal their toothpicks and a few coins of copper, some ingredients of armor or whatever, and continue my extremely long, absolutely lonesome and pretty much pointlessly "open ended" adventure in a big, unfamiliar and very quiet fantasy world. That's just me by the way. Sure it's very beautiful, big and different etc. More power to their fanbase.

But I have games like World of Warcraft if I want that vast freedom in a game thats infinitely more fun even with all the extreme social problems one can end up facing when playing with masses of not-so-mature younglings, cross dressers, scammers, corpse campers, whining and all the problems of MMO's. Worse of all, WoW has biased developers (Blizzard) who have made it a World of Castercraft/Darkcraft because of their personal likings. Kerrigan, Arthas, etc., all of Blizzard's hero who are converts to evil are there to stay, while having no "good" heroes like Uther, Grom, Alexei Stukov, who always die and the evil rule supreme, and the "good" classes like Paladin are kept underpowered and nerfed to hell and back with each patch. Take a guess, I've quit WoW. I'm in the process of finding the likes of those sensible people who were my buddies in Everquest but I guess they've quit MMO's too.

Hence my purpose behind creating this thread. I find some single player titles much better, peaceful and not as monumental time sinks unlike the MMOs (Massively Multiplayer Online games) are, which require huge amounts of time to make progress and enjoy the game. You gain too little for too much time. While Elder Scrolls is somewhat in the same category of time consumption, but it lacks the fun factor of multiplayer games, which makes it too boring for me.

I could be wrong but thats how I see it.

I just picked up Band of Brothers: Hell's Highway... it's good, but it's squad-based and, well, I dunno. Not as good as I'd hoped for for like $60.

I'm Currently playing Arua Rose Online it's an online computer game lol it's kinda alright, addicting.

and a bit of runescape LOL, Ive been playing runescape for about 3 years lol ( I'm not a nerd) . But i eventually quit because they up-dated it and basiclly ruined it.

The game is one of the best fighting games but I was disappointed with the last one that I am currently playing due to it's character, power and graphics.

Well, since finishing G.U. I've been running around trying to find a single person I know who has finished this thing. Other than random boards and the dothackers website, there is nobody out there. =)

I've read the some parts of it and many people are not satisfied with it being in real life instead of in the game but I like it especially the new character Tokio. ;)
