I remember in the late 80s and early 90s when Altaf used to be interviewed on PTV frequently. He sounded like an amateur, but still somewhat original. But now he has gone completely overboard with his 'majlis' accent. Rashid Turabi ke rooh tarap tarap jati ho gee. Iss ko kehtay hain khuda gunjay ko nakhun na day. Koi shia hota toe kam-az-kam normal life aur religious decorum mein farq kar sakta. Yeh toe gadha English mein bhee majlis jhaar daita hay..

Yes his speeches are losing originality at great speed.but Mqm second line leadership is making sensible statements and participating in channel-discussions in a more relaxed manner,ie like farooq sattaar etc.this is because they got " empowered " ministeries in this turn.they say that we are trusted more under an army general than we were under a civillian premier.

I think no political leader has made spontaneous speeches more than Z.A Bhutto did.his thoughts and words were fluent and it would be right to declare that he felt the pulse of the masses.

^yar public mein baat karnay ka tariqa aur hota hay, aur private interview mein aur. Altaf seems to have lost that distinction, which is weird. Plus the way he delivers english speeches is also bizarre.

If pakistani media was truly free, they would skewer him day in and day out. but they don't.. 1,2 mild jokes in Geo and that's it.. (I think its partly due to their fear of being labeled racist, because Altaf still holds the race card)

This dillema is not restricted to altaf only, other political parties are suffering too.sheikh rasheed pretends to the peer-pagara-II.chaudhry shujaat is a joke expressionwise.chaudhry nisaar ali khan nay channel par farmaya," kya yay mulk musharraf kay baap ka hai? " nawaz shareefs conversion isnt an inch better than a domestic house wife.

so in short all im saying is that its nothing more than a point scoring game.you take an edge/keep your impression whatever the method might be.among millions of educated karachiites, all we got is a manipulated/with low expression leader like altaf.what im saying is that its a hagemony and a compulsion.i really start to crack up when MQM workers clap ridiculously while they sing for altaf.

The point of this thread is justified, the problem of expression is there for the heads of the main political parties in this country.some do it intensionally to dramatise the situation and some of them are bound to joke out urdu because its not their mother language.

Here are some of the political figures who got appropriate expression with them.

asfand yaar wali

aietazaz ahsan

ehsan iqbal

javed jabbaar

riyaz hussain peerzadah

qamar-ul-zaman khagga

fakhar imam

shah mahmood qureshi

dr farooq sattaar

ghulam mustufa khar

farhatullah babar.

etc.

Javed jabbar was a senator and minister of state in PPP`s tenure.hes basically a karachiite and a man having his own vision about issues and happenings.lakeer ka faqeer nahi hai.aisay logon ki qadar karta hoon mein.

@seat...

At the level of masses, pakistani politics is still revolving around personalities/families,leaving aside the principles.so a genuine political figure has a little chance to hold a permanent stronghold(seat) in there.

(salam)

Jin logon ke nam liye gaye hein yahan, unn mein guftugu kay saliqay ke eitebar se Javed Jabbar baqi sab se meelon aagay hai -- jaise kisi ne kaha issues baaray uss ki raye bhi inferadi hai.

Banda hypocrite aur umoomi taur peh fauj kaa dallaal hai.

Apni elitist bearings kee wajah say kisi general seat peh iss ka koi election ayenda das bees saal mein jeetna muhal hai
