(bismillah)

(salam)

What is the ruling if a woman who earns money (known to her husband) and also saves up a "nest egg" for future emergencies (unknown to her husband) needs to give khums from that money? Is she obliged to give khums? Does she have to tell her husband about the money (even though it is NOT his money but hers entirely)? And what if the giving of khums exposes this fact to her husband (who wil summarily take control of the savings even though its not his money). Is there a way she can give khums and not tell him? Does she have to give khums at all then?

I've been trying to find out the ruling by Ayatullah Khoi but I can't seem to find his website. Is there any?

Thank you in advance.

I don't see why she would be exempt from khums. If the money came from income that she earned during the year, she would have to pay khums on it. And why would she need to tell her husband about paying khums on her own money?

Because if the husband were to find out somehow about this somewhat high amount of money stemming mysteriously as khums from his wife's supposedly non-existent bank account, high hell will be let loose.

Becos you have earnt the money, yes you must pay khums on it

What i dotn understand is why are you giving your khums to your husband, go to the mosque and pay it for yourself, or give it to a friend to pay it on your behalf

to stop any future problems pay your khums monthly as the year date is the max time before which it is due, that way you can save what you like after khums has been paid on all

Well just as this woman was kept her bank account hidden from her husband she can also be discreet about paying her khums. It's not that hard. Nowadays you can even pay it online through websites like al-khoei.
