Asalam Alaikum

I was wondering where does Meditation in Islam fit in ? I never seen a muslim, or yet heard of one that meditates. Is it integrated as a similar manifestation into our worship like salat, and dua ? OR If in fact its a separate kind of worship, is their any specific actions to follow ? What are the benefits behind it anyway? Someone care to tell me even how to meditate.. I believe meditation may be a passageway to a mysterious world ? Perhaps so, or i may be just expanding this question too far.

Looking forward to your answers..

How do you meditate?

Hmmmmm, sit for hours on end, locked in a room, without eating or drinking......all the while staring into a lit candle contemplating on your self.

What you will find close to Meditation in Shia Islam is ZEKR of Allah (SWT).
