Niyyat of Furada

Im not clear on what this niyyat means. When praying with sunnis, I must take this niyyat, but I dont understand. When in congregation with sunnis, do I pray just like them? What does this niyyat mean exactly? I know they dont pray entire surahs, just parts of it, is this how I pray it too? Also, their structure of namaaz varies a bit, how am I supposed to pray with them? Im confused. :huh:

Salaam alaikum,

Furada means individual or singly. In this case, it tells you that while you are praying in a group, your intention isn't for jama'ah prayer, it's for individual prayer. So you aren't making the intention for jama'ah.

Ayatullah Sestani mentions the following for it:

1432. If a person decides to separate himself during congregational namaz into the niyyat of Furada without any excuse, his congregational prayers will be incorrect, but his namaz will be valid. Except when he has not acted according to the rules related to Furada prayers, or if he has committed an act which invalidates Furada prayers, like having performed an extra Ruku. In fact, in certain situation, his prayers will be valid even if he has not followed the rules of Furada. For example, if he did not have the intention from the beginning to separate himself, and therefore did not recite Qira't, and decided in Ruku, his prayer will be valid when converted to Furada.
 

1434. If a person makes the intention of Furada during the congregation prayers, he cannot revert back to congregational prayers again. But, if he is undecided whether he should make the intention of Furada or not, and eventually decides to end the prayers with congregation, his prayers with the congregation will be in order.

For example, the jamaah is performing obligatory fajr namaz, and the individual while being part of the group, performs 2 rak'at with the intention of a mustahab namaz. In this case, one can recite surah al-fatiha only in both rak'at and go along with the group in motions if reciting a second surah would cause one to lag behind. On the other hand, if after reciting the second surah individually, they are still not finished, one has a choice to wait for them to go into ruku' together, though still with the intention of an individual namaz.

I want to ask a vital question from this community if a shia person can perform NAMAZ E JUMMA with Suni Jamaah with or without Niyyat e Furada?

I am getting the same queries for EID NAMAZ as well by those who are working in industrial areas where no shia jamaah is available...... Please anyone guide affably. Thank you!

niyyah means intention. You have to have the formal intention in your mind that you were offering such and such prayer.
 

Most modern scholars don’t consider necessary. Recommend recommended to make a verbal intention, however, for those to do or did in

It could be something like I make intention to make the morning prayer, which is an obligation and obedience to God

Or longer

In the name of God, praise be to God I make intention to make two units of obligatory and mandatory prayer for the morning prayer in full at home on time in congregation behind such and such prayer leader, facing the direction of prayer in obedience to God for the pleasure of God or praise is due to God or God bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad

For the majority of the living scholars, including Sayyid Sistani when you pray with the other school of thought you would need to do Jamat Furada in which you recite your own basamalla with 2 chapters and the recitation of the prayer leader does not suffice, also as per his rolling going to their Friday birds and their holiday purses is only necessary under the rest and if you have no reason to conceal your faith, there’s no reason to go

Sayyid Khamenei allows you to perform the Friday and holiday prayers with them if they meet the criteria of reliability. I haven’t seen him use the word justice because that would be problematic because our classical definition of justice includes be believing in the 14. He requires you to say basamallah before each chapter and recite a whole chapter if they don’t, but he is more lenient to allowing group prayer with them, and whether you can consider a congregation or not

A lot of the views on this have changed and evolved since I worked in the office so I’m not gonna go into deeper details until I look at what most recently he said

This tends to be the minority view, but there are a few other scholars who have this type of view

So generally, you can just make the midday in the late afternoon. Prayers at your job and the holiday prayers can be made at sunrise so you can just make the two units and recite something quick from the peak of eloquence eat something sweet and go to work if you can’t take the day off or you can even do a short program with the supplications and act with your family there’s no need to go to a large center
