Confused- career

Asalam Alaikum

Please can one tell me how one should pray for guidance ? Like i have no idea whether if i should take university or college, and even more i dont know what i like, what i should get into, what study i should strive for and such..

Is there a prayer i can do that'll show me the way and free me from this confused state??

For about a week now, i've been thinking much deeply about my future. Help would be greatly appreciated. Jazak alla Khair

Going to a university or college isnt much of a difference because both places you would be attaining a bachelors. A university is made up of several colleges and by definition is a place where one can get a PhD. Many people dont know what they will study when they get into college. I thought I had an idea. I was intending to major in political science, came to college, and then changed my mind. It is my second year now and I have finally figured out what I like: cultural anthropology. In my opinion, if you know you're not doing engineering or science, then its okay to not know what you want to do in life. I think the best part of going to a liberal arts school is that one takes various classes to be exposed to different modes of thought and thats how one "discovers oneself." Well, hope that helps. Dont worry so much about this. My cousin just graduated from college and still doesnt know what to do, and she's not worried at all. Its part of life. :D

You would need to purify your heart and soul by shedding a few tears in supplication to your Creator. Allah will answer prayers as long as they arise from a sincere heart. You can use one of the prescribed Dua's or ask for God's mercy in your own words. Good luck and let us know how everything goes.

im no where near attending either college or university, i have 20 credits, im just planning ahead, but still im really confused, ya3nee.. i have no idea wat to take, but thanks Moheb, im sure i tried some of that, but i guess i gota wage more war on the shaytan.... he's pretty goood at tricking me these days.. its either god likes me giving supplication, or that he's mad at me..

Bro/Sis mighty_servant, I was in a similar situation recently when I was having troubling deciding what to pursue my masters in. I considered doing istikhara but the maulana said you shouldn't do istikhara, instead you should research and ask the advise of those who are experts in the field (guidance counselsors?) and then use your 'aql to make the decision.
