How come a lot of Saying don’t have their sources? Are we forgetting that we need to source in order to keep it authentic or else anyone can come and attribute anything to Imam Ali (KAW)?

A very important saying of Imam Ali (KAW) that directly speaks to us Shia, lets be Shia not Ghullat (Extremists)

"Two kinds of people will be damned on my account, those who form exaggerated opinion about me and those who under-estimate me because they hate me".

-NAHAJUL BALAGHA:-

-Saying of Imam Ali #116

- There will be those who will Always Hate him and call themselves Muslims.

"If I cut a faithful Muslim into pieces to make him hate me, he will not turn into my enemy and if I give all the wealth of this world to a hypocrite to make him my friend he will not befriend me. It is so because the Holy Prophet has said: "O Ali! No faithful Muslim will ever be your enemy and no hypocrite will ever be your friend. "

-NAHAJUL BALAGHA:-

-Saying of Imam Ali #45.

- A true saying for competitive sports, debaters’ those who are about to compete in harsh/tough physical sports for competition purposes.

"When you feel afraid or nervous to do a thing then do it because the real harm which you may thus receive is less poignant than its expectation and fear".

-NAHAJUL BALAGHA:-

-Saying of Imam Ali #175

By my life there will be no regard for anyone nor slackening from me in fighting against one who opposes right or gropes in misguidance. O' creatures of Allah, fear Allah and flee unto Allah from His wrath (seek protection in His Mercy). Tread on the path He has laid down for you and stand by what He has enjoined upon you. In that case `Ali would stand surety for your success (salvation) eventually even though you may not get it immediately (i.e. in this world).

(bismillah)

(salam) to all brothers and sisters

My Great Imam Ali (as) said.

"Anyone who has been granted four attributes will not be deprived of their (four) effects; one who prays to Allah and implores to Him will not be deprived of granting of his prayers; one who repents for his thoughts and deeds will not be refused acceptance of the repentance; one who has atoned for his sins will not be debarred from salvation and one who thanks Allah for the Blessings and Bounties will not be denied the increase in them. I am not a rijal expert i am just a layman and follower of Shia school of thought. Most of the times we see that Shia present any hadith from Sunni sources in praise of Imam Ali a.s or any other Imam a.s like Imam Hassan a.s or Imam Hussain a.s. The Sunni scholars are always ready to first deny the authenticity of the Hadith or twist its meanings. The challenge in this thread to the Sunnis is not to prove hadiths in praise of Imam Ali a.s or any other Imam Hassan a.s being unauthentic rather otherwise. I want to see all the reports in praise of Imam Ali a.s, and other Imams (a.s) which are authentic in all regards according to Sunni school of thought.

The challenge for Shia rijal experts here is to prove that any such report presented by Sunni fellow is unauthentic before any of their scholar.

At the end of the day we will ultimately like to see whether great Sunni scholars were Nasibi or not.

I am going to make a post soon on Imam Dhahabi and his Corrections On Certain Narrations Inshalla. If you read Mustafrak al Hakem, you will find most of the narration he made correct Concerning the Ahlulbayt (a.s) and especially Imam Ali (a.s), But when Imam Dahabi comes into Correction, you will find he either criticizes the narration or tries to call it a lie, and blame it upon nothing. Its not surprising since he may have leaned towards the Nahj of Al Ummawiy'een.

السلام عليكم

This is a nice hadith from Amali Al-Mufid where you have a number of fadha'il of amir al-mu'mineen ('as):

Narrated to us Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn Al-Husayn, he said: Narrated to me my father, he said: Narrated to me Muhammad ibn Yahya Al-'Attar, he said: Narrated to us Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn 'Isa, from 'Ali ibn Al-Hakm, from Hisham ibn Salim, from Sulayman ibn Khalid, from Abi 'Abdullah Ja'far ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq ('as), from his forefathers ('as), he said: The Messenger of Allah (saawa) said to 'Ali ('as): Oh 'Ali, you are from me and I am from you. And your friend is my friend, and my friend is God's friend, and your enemy is my enemy, and my enemy is the enemy of Allah. Oh 'Ali, I am at war with he who is at war with you, and at peace with he who is as peace with you. Oh 'Ali, to you are the treasures in heaven, and you are at both sides. Oh 'Ali, you are the divider of heaven and hell, No one enters heaven unless they realize you, and you realize then, and no one enters hell, unless they deny you and you deny them. Oh 'Ali, you and the Imams from your progeny are upon a'raf on the day of qiayama, you will recognize the criminals by their marks, and believers by their signs. Oh 'Ali if it were not for you, the believers would not be recognized after me.

(salam) i think my learned brothers could not understand my query therefore i am setting a scheme of this thread.

1. Any hadith in praise of Imam Ali a.s.

2. Sunnis will prove that the hadith is authentic in all respects.

3. Shia will prove that Sunni scholors have denied the authenticity of the hadith in one way or the other.

The purpose of the thread is to bring into light this bitter fact that there is not even a single hadith in Sunni sources which is not declared weak and unauthentic by the Sunni rijal scholars.

Like take the example of hadith "I am city of knowledge and Ali (a.s) is gate of it". Now see Sunni response on the subject.

Ibn al-Hashimi of Team Ahlel Bayt writes:

In reference to the following Hadith:

It was related by al-Hakim, at-Tabarani and others. It was also related by at-Tirmidhi with the wording, “I am the House of Wisdom, and Ali is its Door.”

“I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate.”

Albani declared the Hadith to be Mawdoo (fabricated). Daraqutni labeled the Hadith as mudtarib (shaky), both in isnad and text. Tirmidhi labeled it is ghareeb (weak) and munkar (rejected). Bukharisaid that the Hadith has no sahih narration and declared it un-acknowledgeable. Qurtubi said about this Hadith in al-Jame’ li Ahkam al-Quran: “This Hadith is Batil (false)!” Ibn Maeen said that the Hadith is a baseless lie. Dhahabi considered it a forgery and included it in his book on forged Hadiths. Al-Hakimdeclared that it is weak. Amongst others who dismissed the Hadith are Abu Zur`ahAbu Hatim,Yahya bin Saeed, etc.

http://www.schiiten.com/backup/http://www.*****************.com/www.http://www.*****************.com/articles/hadith/city-of-knowledge.html

The author further says at the end.

Nawawi said in “Tahzeeb Asma wa Lughat” (p.480) that both versions of the Hadith (I am the House of Wisdom…and I am the City of Knowledge) are false:

وأما الحديث المروى عن الصنابحى، عن على، قال: قال رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم -: “أنا دار الحكمة، وعلى بابها”((1)). وفى رواية: “أنا مدينة العلم، وعلى بابها” ((2))، فحديث باطل، رواه الترمذى، وقال: هو حديث منكر

I am still looking for a Sunni response that whether they can present a single hadith which is authentic in praise of Imam Ali a.s and is not declared not authentic by their major scholars.

A sunni scholar IMAM AHMED IBN HANBAL undertook a research on THE HOLY QURAN and came to the conclusion that there were as many as 300 QURANIC verses specifically revealed by Allah SWT in the glory of MOLA KAINAT IMAM ALI IBN ALI TALIB AS ..... He further concluded that no one else matches that figure of 300 QURANIC VERSES......later on scholars like imam suyuti.... IBN asakir ..... And imam hakim concluded the same

Once THE PROPHET PBUH sent HAZRAT ALI AS in a sarya ( sarya is a war in which the holy prophet do not participate) along with other companions..... The narrator of the Hadith says that while HAZRAT ALI AS was away waging a war for Islam... THE HOLY PROPHET PBUH sitting alone in the room at night raised his hands in the air with tears in his eyes and said ...... O Allah I don't want to breath my last ie I don't want to leave this world until ALI comes back SAFE and SOUND from the war ...... ( When I heard this Hadith for the first time, I just could not believe the amount of love prophet had with ali and when this Hadith came to my knowledge , I concluded that the prophet loved no one more than ali ibn e abi talib) this Hadith is sahih and hassan which means it cannot be refuted.....tirmizi

When imam hassan as was born .... At first HAZRAT ALI kept his name " HAMZA" and when imam Husain was born ..... HAZRAT ALI kept his name "JAFFAR"..... THE PROPHET PBUH called upon HAZRAT ALI as and said that the names of ur sons have to be changed ..... HAZRAT ALI replied that as u feel good, I m happy with that .... Than THE HOLY PROPHET said Allah has kept the names of ur sons hidden in the curtains of heaven..... Angel Gabriel came and told THE PROPHET SAWW the names of both sons..... Elder son to be kept as HASSAN and younger son to be HUSSAIN..... Reference 1 ) book: al musnad, vol: 1, pg: 159, author: IMAM AHMED IBN HANBAL..... Reference 2) book: al mustadrak, vol: 4 , pg : 308, author: AL HAKIM..... It is also said that in 500 years of Arab history prior to THE PROPHET SAWW.... No one had given the names of HASSAN and HUSSAIN to their sons as Allah specifically kept them for the PROPHETS grand sons.....

"It is narrated by Barā’ bin ‘Āzib (RA): We were on a journey with Allāh’s Messenger (SAW). (On the way) we stayed at Ghadīr Khum. There it was announced that the prayer was about to be offered. The space under two trees was cleaned for Allāh’s Messenger (SAW). Then he offered the zuhr (noon) prayer, and, holding ‘Alī’s hand, he said: Don’t you know that I am even nearer than the lives of the believers? They said: Why not! He said: Don’t you know that I am even nearer than the life of every believer? They said: Why not! The narrator says that he said while holding ‘Alī’s hand: One who has me as his mawla has ‘Alī as his Mawla .O Allāh! Befriend the one who befriends him (‘Alī) and be the enemy of one who is his enemy. The narrator says that after this ‘Umar (bin al-Khattāb (RA)) met ‘Alī (RA) and said to him: O Ibn Abī Tālib! Congratulations, you have become the master of every male and female believer, morning and evening (for ever).”

Yes indeed their books are filled with many merits no doubt, However what our bother here Requested was to find an Unauthentic Tradition among the Ahlul-Sunnah Books, and prove that its Authentic to see if the investigator of the book is a Nasibi and understand why he would make such an Authentic Tradition Weak and so on.

To be honest I don't think u will find many..... This work asks for a proper scholarly research which is beyond the scope of my ambit.... But the ahadith presented above are SAHIH hadess in the glory of HAZRAT ALI AS.... Yes I know one thing for a fact that Sunni scholars were accused of being Shia.... When they praised and loved ahul e bayt.... Imam hakim was house arrested when he praised ahal e bayt..... Imam nisai was martyred because he praised imam ALI as in the mosque in Syria..... Imam shafae was called a rafhzi because he used to collect ahadith on ahal e bayt..... Imam abu hanifa was accused of being Shia because of his love for ahal e bayt

Actually Well...I don't know how much you have read our brothers Books and Works from Ahlul-Sunnah, but Infact many of them such as Al-Albani, Imam al-Dahabi, and for example Al-Arna'aoot, you will find many of them have Tried in one way or another to weaken some of the Narrations on Ahlulbayt (a.s), Especially the ones on Imam Ali (a.s) and Imam Hussain (a.s), One who reads enough well recognize, even if you read Imam ibn Hijir in his books he claims that Al-Nisai was a little of a "Shi'ee" because he has lot of merits on Ahlulbayt (a.s) and same thing with Mustadrak al-hakim who was Criticized for being Shi'ee by Imam Al  Dahabi, and also according to them if your a Simple "Shia'ee" you cannot be trusted and you are a liar and so fourth. So there are many my dear brother, but it take a lot of reading and effort to recognize the minds behind the Decisions made on certain narrations.

Imam Ali was the cousin of our Holy Prophet. He was born in the Sacred House (Ka'bah). Providence alone had a hand in bringing his mother towards the Ka'bah. When his mother came to Ka'bah, she felt weighed down by intense pain of pregnancy. She knelt down before the Holy Structure and prayed humbly to God. 'Abbas ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib, saw 'Ali's mother praying to God. No sooner had she raised her head from supplication, then the wall of the Sacred House split by a solemn miracle. Fatimah entered the Ka'bah and that portion returned to its normal position. 'Abbas and his companions flocked at the gate of the Sacred House which was locked, and tried to open it, but in vain. They then decided to give it up, considering the miraculous nature of the event and the Divine Will in action.

The news of this miraculous incident soon spread like wild fire in Mecca. 'Ali was born within the Ka'bah with his eyes closed and his body in humble prostration before the Almighty. Fatimah stayed in the Ka'bah for three days and as the fourth day approached she stepped out, carrying her gem in her arms. To her great surprise, she found the Holy Prophet awaiting to receive the newly-born child in his anxious arms. Imamate feeling the subtle touch of prophethood, 'Ali opened his eyes and saluted the Divine Prophet: "as-Salamu 'alayka ya Rasula'lldh" (Peace be on you, O Messenger of Allah). 'Ali's birth in the Ka'bah is unique in the history of the world. Neither a prophet nor a Divine saint was ever blessed with such an honour. He was brought up under the care and affection of the Holy Prophet. As 'Ali says: "The Holy Prophet brought me up in his own arms and fed me with his own morsel. I followed him wherever he went like a baby-camel following its mother. Each day a new aspect of his character would beam out of his noble person and I would accept it and follow it as a command. " (Nahju 'I-balaghah). Ten years in the company of the Holy Prophet had kept him so close and inseparable, that he was one with him in character, knowledge, self-sacrifice, forbearance, bravery, kindness, generosity, oratory and eloquence.

From his very infancy, he prostrated before God along with the Holy Prophet. As he himself said: "I was the first to pray to God along with the Holy Prophet." " 'Ali presented in the footsteps of the Holy Prophet," says al-Mas'udi, "all along his childhood." Allah created him pure and holy and kept him steadfast on the right path. Though 'Ali is undisputably the first to embrace Islam when the Holy Prophet called upon his listeners to do so, yet by the very fact that since his infancy he was brought up by the Holy Prophet and followed him in every action and deed including prostration before Allah, he can be said to be born a Muslim, just like the Holy Prophet himself. 'Ali, at all times, accompanied the Holy Prophet to help and protect him from his enemies. He used to write down the verses of the Holy Qur'an and discuss them with the Prophet as soon as they were revealed by the Holy Messenger, the Gabriel.

He was so closely associated with the Holy Prophet that as soon as a verse was revealed to him during the day or night, 'Ali was the first to hear it. The Holy Prophet has said of 'Ali: O 'Ali, you are my brother in this world as well as in the Hereafter. I am the city of knowledge and 'Ali is the gate. Nobody knows 'Ali except Allah and I. Nobody know me except Allah and 'Ali. If you want to see the knowledge of Adam, the piety of Noah, the devotion of Abraham, the awe of Moses, and the service and abstinence of Christ, look at the bright face of Ali. When the Holy Prophet reached Yathrib (Medina) and met his followers who had come from Mecca at his call, he immediately appointed for each such followers a person from the people of Yathrib known as Ansar (Helpers), who had accepted his prophethood, to be a brother to him. His appointment of brothers was a great act of help for the refugees known as Muhajirun (Emigrants), who left their home and come to Yathrib. He made brothers of people who followed the same trade so that the Muhajirun could be usefully employed immediately.

While the Prophet was appointing an Ansar a brother to a Muhajirun 'Ali who was present there, was not appointed as a brother to any Ansar. On being questioned as to why he had not appointed a brother for 'All, the Prophet said: "He shall be a brother to me." The character and calibre of 'Al; as judged by al- Mas'udi is, "If the glorious name of being the first Muslim, a comrade of the Prophet in exile, his faithful companion in the struggle for faith, his intimate associate in life, and his kinsman; if a true knowledge of the spirit of his teachings and of the Book; if self-abnegation and practice of justice; if honesty, purity, and love of truth; if a knowledge of law and science, constitute a claim to pre-eminence, then all must regard 'Al'i as the foremost Muslim.
