(bismillah) (salam)

My uncle says that this is the way SUNNI people say salawat to include the sahabas:

Allah humma salle Allah muhammadeew wa alla aale muhammadin kama sallayta Allah ibrahima wa alla aaale ibrahima innaka hamidum mujeed.

Allah humma bariq Allah muhammadeew wa alla aale muhammadin kama baraqta Allah ibrahima wa alla aaale ibrahima innaka hamidum mujeed.

(I might have spelled the pronounciation wrong)

But the case is that my uncle says that AALE IBRAHIM here is the sahabas and that the SUNNIS want to include Umar, Abu Bakr and Othmaan.

Same with Baraqta.

He continue by saying that the salawat is : Allah humma salle Allah muhammad wa aaale muhammad.

Sallam

The definition of the above Salawaat used in Salaat is:

O Allah! Shower blessings upon Sayyidina Muhammad and on the family of Sayyidina Muhammad as You showered blessings upon Sayyidina Ibrahim and on the family of Sayyidina Ibrahim. Surely, You are the Praiseworthy, Glorious.

O Allah! Bestow favours upon Sayyidina Muhammad and on the family of Sayyidina Muhammad as You bestowed favours upon Sayyidina Ibrahim and on the family of Sayyidina Ibrahim. Surely, You are the Praiseworthy, Glorious.

I dont know where the Sahab come from.

Wa alaikum asalaam.

Your uncle is right. In normal khutbahs and speeches, SUNNIS include not only sahaba, but the wives of the Prophet(saawaws) into the salawat. However, when they pray, if they include these in their salat, their salat is batil (invalidated).

Fee imanillah.

I have asked a very knowledgable person on PALTALK and he told us that the FULL SALAWAT end on AALE MUHAMMAD. Now it is NOT haram to add people after aaale muhammad he said but here on the long one which i have pasted he said the sunnis want to include the sahabas.

Salaam,

The way you wrote Salawat is correct in which there is no name of Sahabah or Wives of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh). This correct type of Salawat is clearly mentioned in many different sources of Sunnis book such as Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim and .... I put the Arabic hadith here for you guys. If you need translation, please let me know:

«Úä ˜ÚÈ Èä ÚÌÑÉ ÑÖì Çááå Úäå Þíá íÇ ÑÓæá Çááå ÇãÇ ÇáÓáÇã Úáí˜ ÝÞÏ ÚÑÝäÇå ݘíÝ ÇáÕáÇÉ ÞÇá: ÞæáæÇ: Çááåã Õá Úáì ãÍãÏ æÚáì Âá ãÍãÏ ˜ãÇ ÕáíÊ Úáì Âá ÇÈÑÇåíã Çä˜ ÍãíÏ ãÌíÏ Çááåã ÈÇј Úáì ãÍãÏ æÚáì Âá ãÍãÏ ˜ãÇ ÈÇÑ˜Ê Úáì Âá ÇÈÑÇåíã Çä˜ ÍãíÏ ãÌíÏ.»

Salam

Brother it is not a 'sunni' salawat. Here is the translation of the Salawa't you mentioned:

Allahumma! Send blessings upon (Holy Prophet) Muhammad and upon the followers of (Holy Prophet) Muhammad as You sent blessings upon Ibraheem and upon the followers of Ibraheem; indeed, You are praiseworthy and glorious. Allahumma! Bless (Holy Prophet) Muhammad and the follower of (Holy Prophet) Muhammad as You blessed Ibraheem and the follower of Ibraheem; indeed, You are praise worthy and glorious.

It is Wajib to include the Holy Prophet's (s.a.w.w) family (aal) in the salawa't but including the sahaba and followers is not haram or Un-shia =| The Sahaba and the followers are the true ones. So when you say Salawa't, you ask Allah to bestow his blessing on them. Allah knows who's righteous enough =]

That is Shalawat i was thought at school : Allahumma sholli ala muhammad wa alaa aali muhammad kama barakta alaa ibrahim wa alaa ali ibrahim, -repeat again-, fil aala minnal innaka hamidummajiid.

To me it doesnt matter, i prefer to understand the shalawat into my own language. The purpose it to respect Rasulullah, whether some want to add to respect Ibrahim, Umar, etc that is entirely doesnt matter. We all both love the same prophet and worship the same god.
