Salaam,

Excuse me for my igronance, but when we say "Ya Ali" in majlises (after someone else says "Narre Haidrey") or when we say "Ya Ali Madad, are we saying this in reference to Imam Ali  (as)  or Allah swt 's name?

I thank you in advance,

Fi Imaan Allah

Salamon Alaikom,

Dear brother,

We say it in reference to Amir al Mu'mineen  (as)!!!

Afterall, the rememberence of Ahlul Bait (as)  is the rememberence of Allah (SWT).

[24:36] In houses which Allah has permitted to be exalted and that His name may be remembered in them; there glorify Him therein in the mornings and the evenings.

Wassalaam

Imam Ali's name.

It is the sunnah of the Prophet. Whenever RasoolAllah (saww) was in trouble and needed help he called upon Ali (as) (e.g., Battle of Khaibar).

Imam Ali is not dead. According to the Qur'an martyrs do not die, they are alive.

When we ask for Imam Ali's help, we using him as a wasilah, intercessor. A simple example to explain this would be:

The day before a huge final exam, you call up the Maulana and ask him to pray for you so that you are successful. Why ask the Maulana, when you can pray yourself? Well, the Maulana maybe closer to Allah than you, and when a God-fearing and pious individual prays to Allah his prayers are answered immediately.

So, who better to ask to pray on your behalf than the 14 Masoomeen?

Wa Salaam,

Dhulfiqar
