A lot of our Sunni friends claim that Muawiyya is the uncle of the believers, he is a noble companion and that we should refrain from speaking on him. If anybody does say something about Muawiyya he is called a fasiq, Shiite and so on. Let us examine sunnis case for Muawiyya. I'm Gonna go through 6 ahadith our sunni friends use and show that they are either weak or not really virtues but in reality they expose Muawiyya for the man he really was. Claim of virtues for Muawiyya Hadith 1: Prophet Peace be upon him said " O Allah ! Teach Muawiyya The book, Math, and protect him from the Punishment " Musnad Shameen page 100 Here is the Arabic: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الدِّمَشْقِيَّانِ، قَالا: ثنا أَبُو مُسْهِرٍ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمِيرَةَ الْمُزَنِيِّ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ قَالَ لِمُعَاوِيَةَ: " اللَّهُمَّ عَلِّمْهُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِسَابَ، وَقِهِ الْعَذَابَ This hadith is weak however because of the narrator Ibn Abi Umayr who narrates directly from the Prophet(saw). Yet it is not established that he was a companion of the Prophet thus the hadith is Mursal. Ibn Abd al bar says the following about Ibn Abi Umayr. Ibn Abd al bar: His companionship is not proven. Here is the Arabic: قال ابن عبد البر : لا تصح صحبته Source: Tahdib al Tahdib page 403-404 Scan: Azadi also mentioned that his companionship is debated. Here is the Arabic: ويقال الأزدي مختلف في صحبته Source: http://library.islamweb.net/newlibrary/display_book.php?flag=1&bk_no=56&ID=7461

However, I have seventy virtues which none of them has.’ I asked, ‘O Commander of the Faithful! Please inform me about those virtues.’ Then Ali (MGB) said, ‘1- I never associated any partners with God - even for a twinkling of an eye. I never worshipped Lat and Uzza. 2- I never drank any alcohol. 3- I have been with God’s Prophet since my childhood when God’s Prophet (MGB) asked my father to become my guardian. From then on I have been with him, eaten and drank with him, associated and talked with him. 4- I am the first person to believe in and submit to Islam. 5- God’s Prophet (MGB) told me, ‘O Ali! Your relationship to me is like that of Aaron’s relationship to Moses (MGB) except that there will be no Prophets after me.’ 6- I was the last person who separated from God’s Prophet (MGB) and placed him in his grave. 7- When God’s Prophet (MGB) wanted to go to the cave of Sowr, he put me to sleep in his own bed and covered me up with his blanket. When the polytheists came to his house, they suspected that I was Muhammad (MGB). They woke me up from sleep and asked, ‘What happened to your friend?’ I said, ‘He (MGB) went to take care of something.’ They said, ‘If he had escaped, then Ali would have escaped along with him.’ 8- God’s Prophet (MGB) taught me one-thousand gates of knowledge each of which opens up to one-thousand other gates. 9- God’s Prophet (MGB) told me, ‘When the Honorable the Exalted God resurrects the first up to the last of the people on the Resurrection day, He will install a pulpit for me above that of all the other Prophets and install apulpit for you above that of all other Trustees. Then you shall climb up it. (To be Continued ..........)

What are the characteristics of those whom Allah loves and hates? For more than a billion Muslims around the globe, the Qurān reproduces God’s very own words. To find our answer whom are loved and what constitutes their important characteristics, let's turn the pages of the Quran. I searched the Quran with the keywords of یحب [whom He loves] and لایحب [whom He dislikes] and the result is somehow noteworthy. The numbers in the brackets signify the number of Chapters and Verses of the Quran respectively. In the light of the Quranic verses, one can find who are to be loved and who are to be hated by the most merciful Creator. Moreover, his creatures can follow the suit. Allah loves those who have beautified themselves with the following characteristics: 1. Indeed, Allah loves the virtuous. (02:195), (03:134), (03:148), (05:13), (05:93). 2. Indeed, Allah loves the penitent and He loves those who keep clean (02:222), (09:108). 3. Yes, whoever fulfills his commitments and is wary of Allah, Allah indeed loves the God wary (03:76), (09:04), 4. And Allah loves the steadfast (03:146). 5. Indeed, Allah loves those who trust in Him (03:159). 6. Indeed, Allah loves the just (05:42), (49:09), (60:08), 7. Indeed, Allah loves those who fight in His way in ranks, as if they were a compact structure (61:04). Allah does not like the individuals with the following characteristics: 1. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors (02:190), (05:87), (07:55). 2. Allah does not like corruption (02:205). 3. Allah does not like any sinful ingrate. (02:276). 4. Indeed, Allah does not like the faithless (03:32), (30:45). 5. And Allah does not like the wrongdoers (03:57), (03:140), (42: 40). 6. Indeed, Allah does not like anyone who is a swaggering braggart (04:36), (31:18), (57:23). 7. Indeed, Allah does not like someone who is treacherous and sinful (04:107). 8. Allah does not like the disclosure of [anyone's] evil [ conduct] in speech except by someone who has been wronged, and Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing (04:148). 9. And Allah does not like the agents of corruption (05:64), (28:77) 10. Do not be wasteful; indeed, He does not like the wasteful (06:141), (07:31), 11. Indeed, Allah does not like the treacherous (08:58). 12. Indeed, He does not like the arrogant (16:23). 13. Indeed, Allah does not like any ingrate traitor (14:38). 14. Do not exult! Indeed, Allah does not like the exultant (28:76). A man/woman with primordial and innate nature Loves and Hates whom his Lord likes and dislikes accordingly. May Allah grant us the blessing to fall in the first category. Thanks May Allah Bless Us All

Aban reports frm salim who said: With many others we were sitting in the mosque at Kufah, when 'Ali (a) said: Before you lose me (forever) ask me about anything about the Book of Allah. Abu dhar narrates that the Prophet (s) said: Whoever desires to live like me and die like me and to have his eternal abode in the Paradise created by my Lord, should acknowledge 'Ali as his guardian, after me. Ibn Abbas: The Prophet (s) said: If only people knew 'Ali was conferred the tithe of 'Commander of the Faithful' they would n0t hesitate to acknowledge his merit. Asalaam Alaikom I’d like to make a quick post regarding the virtue of the seeker of knowledge. A seeker of knowledge is essentially someone that attains knowledge whilst in search of it. I’d like to split the post into two sections. A) What is the need of seeking knowledge? B ) Hadiths regarding the seeker of knowledge I’d like to analyse from a logical perspective the need to seek and attain knowledge. As Muslims, especially living in the west, we are surrounded by many people who may have a negative view on Islam (which is usually out of ignorance) or are unaware of the limitless knowledge and teachings given by Islam. Many situations are encountered on a daily life whereby the solution has been provided by the Quran or recorded in hadith concerning the view of our Prophets (as) and Imams (as). You will be shocked with the amount of people that are enlightened and drawn to Islam by answers you give to certain situations. For instance, if someone comes to you and says “You religious people only worship God out of fear” if you have done your research you will know that the same question has been answered in an eloquent manner by Ameer Al mo’mineen (as) where he replies “there are three types of worshippers, the first is the one who worships out of fear of hell, this is the worship of a slave, then there is the one who worships for the reward of the next life, this is the worship of a business man, then there is the one who worships because he thinks Allah (swt) is worthy of worship, this is the worship of a freeman” If such a reply is given you will find the asker astounded at this answer. When mentioned you attained this through the knowledge of Islam, the persons view on islam if negative, will change to positive. And if unaware will be enlightened by this knowledge. Hadiths regarding the virtue of the seeker of knowledge are many. Just to quote a few. The Prophet (sawa) said “The seeker of knowledge among ignorant people is as the living one among the dead. The Prophet (sawa) said “There are two insatiable types of people who are never satisfied by their quest: the seeker of knowledge and the seeker after this world.” (i personally suggest you ponder over that hadith, its extremely deep) The Prophet (sawa) said “When death comes to the seeker of knowledge whilst he is in that state [of seeking knowledge] he dies a matyr. (look up the rewards of a matyr, it can count as you seeking knowledge) The Prophet (sawa) said “Verily the angels spread their wings over the seeker of knowledge and seek forgiveness for him” The Prophet (sawa) said “He who goes out to seek knowledge, Allah (swt) guarantees his sustenance for him ” (so no saying “oh I have work i can’t do any research”) This one really emphasises the status of the seeker of knowledge Imam Ali (as) said “He who is overtaken by death whilst he is seeking knowledge, there remains but a difference of one level between him and the Prophets” Ways to seek knowledge : the ways to seek knowledge is infinite especially with the internet at hand. Imam Jafar sadiq (as) said “Verily knowledge is a lock and it’s key is questioning” So ASK QUESTIONS, never be afraid that the question is too stupid if your intention is sincere. And if you have a question, ask people, and do independant resarch, then once knowledge has been attained..SPREAD IT. As the Prophet said to the people when they converted and knew the shahadah, he said to them now that you know the shahadah even go and spread that. And just think for every bit of knowledge you spread, and someone learns from you, you get the blessing, then they go and tell people, and you get the blessing and this continues til qiyamah. inshaAllah this article helped you all, May Allah (swt) make the path to knowledge easy so we may attain more. Wa Alaikum Salaam.
