Assalam u Alaikum There is a controversy surrounding this film. A senior member of Shiachat has shared his thought provoking views on his blog. I found his views to be balanced and well articulated. I encourage others to review the article and share their stance in a respectful manner. Please avoid posting content promoting the movie. This thread intends to raise the bar of intellectual honesty and truth seeking. As such, we expect that members will offer relevant comments with merit. ++++++ By Sayyid Ali @Ibn al-Hussain I’m sure by now many have seen the recent trailer for

Assalamu Alaikum, I was once told or perhaps heard in a lecture, that Imam Reza as helps the believers cross the sirat in the next world, on the condition that we visit him (shrine). Please can anyone give me the reference/source to this, it would be most appreciated? I need this for a project. Thank you.

Salam. I hope you're all doing well inshallah. To begin with, I was going to ask about magic and jinn. Whether magic is simply the act of deception, and whether jinn can actually communicate and cross to our reality. Personally, I do not believe in magic the way it is portrayed in movies and such, nor do I believe in the ability to communicate with jinn. Anyhow, as I started to read more, specifically regarding quran 2:102, I came across (forgive me) some ridiculous sounding tafseer. I can accept all regarding the story of Harut and Marut, but not when it tells that the woman they desire

Salaam Alaikum dear brothers and sister: I am currently enrolled in a course in my university called: Pathways to Enlightenment. This is a required senior seminar course, but the specific topic/course focus was allowed to be selected by us. For this class I am to write a 20 page research paper on a topic of my choice. Here is a description of the topic: Research Paper: Students choose their own area of interest that emerges from (or merges with) the course theme of Enlightenment, and then write a series of four 5 page essays that will eventually form into a whole. Think of this as a b

Hello, I am conducting research on the differences between how Shia and Sunni Muslims conduct their prayers. I am curious as to WHY these differences arose, and if possible please link your source (as I need to cite them). Also, if anyone would be willing to partake in an interview through email, either Shia or Sunni, it would be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards

Asalaamu alaikum. When one reads traditions of our Ahlul-Bayt (a.s.), the traditions come from sources that are considered to be "reliable" and "authentic". This leads me to ask, what makes a source reliable or not? For example, traditions from Al-Kafi are considered to be authentic to our Shia sect, and Bukhari and Muslim are not. Why is this, and what is the reasoning for it? Thank you.

Salaam wa alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh Does anyone here perhaps know where www.al-islam.org quotes the home page hadiths from? I've made it a habit to refresh the page to find interesting thoughts and hadiths - but it's started to click with me that I should perhaps seek some citations from some original sources. Specifically one that a colleague has asked about: "Do not keep the company of an evil person, for surely your character will take on something of his character without your even realizing it." Thanks and Salams Ali
