Was Maradona an anti-imperialist? I literslly lack any knowledge on this topic. But recently I have found a lot of Islamic and specifically shia channels honoring Maradona specifically. Not his game, but his humane part. Can someone share their knowledge regarding Maradona's political and social stances???

Salaam brothers and sisters, I see a certain movement of excessive socialist politicization of Shi'ism and I see it with some concern. Taking into account the similar process that occurred in Catholicism in Latin America, with Liberation Theology. What happened was an ideological instrumentalization of religion for partisan purposes, which only generated the secularization of Latin societies. Shiism has a message of liberation and justice, however, I believe, we run the risk of using the socialist worldview and thereby losing the transcendent reality of existence and summarizing all prophetic history in a dialectical materialism. Let us remember the position of Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Mutahhari, both critics of secular socialism and Islamic socialism. Regards,
