Peace be upon those who follow [divine] guidance, among the issues that evangelical Christian preachers of the US love to claim is that the Quran denies the noble Prophet Muhammad (upon whom be peace) - the Seal of all Prophets - to have been blessed with miracles. They use the following Aya - and similar Ayat - as a "proof": 17:59 وَمَاوَمَا مَنَعَنَآ أَن نُّرْسِلَ بِٱلآيَاتِ إِلاَّ أَن كَذَّبَ بِهَا ٱلأَوَّلُونَ وَآتَيْنَا ثَمُودَ ٱلنَّاقَةَ مُبْصِرَةً فَظَلَمُواْ بِهَا وَمَا نُرْسِلُ بِٱلآيَاتِ إِلاَّ تَخْوِيفاً ٥٩ And nothing has prevented Us from sending signs [i.e., miracles] except that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamūd the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning. ___ The one who studied the Quran with the intention to understand its teachings will however find that there is a distinction here: Allah ta'ala denied to show the disbelievers at the time of our noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) any signs / miracles UPON their requests (because this would lead to their destruction similar to the nations before them), but he did bless His Messenger with miracles on other occasions. Some of these instances are clearly found in the Quran itself. [Remember] when you were asking help of your Lord, and He answered you, "Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another." 8:10 وَمَاوَمَا جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِلاَّ بُشْرَىٰ وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ بِهِ قُلُوبُكُمْ وَمَا ٱلنَّصْرُ إِلاَّ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ ١٠ And Allāh made it not but good tidings and so that your hearts would be assured thereby. And victory is not but from Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise. [Remember] when He overwhelmed you with drowsiness [giving] security from Him and sent down upon you from the sky, rain by which to purify you and remove from you the evil [suggestions] of Satan and to make steadfast your hearts and plant firmly thereby your feet. [Remember] when your Lord inspired to the angels, "I am with you, so strengthen those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip." ___ The above Ayat are regarding the battle of Badr, which was the first battle between the believers and the polytheists and one where the number of believers was very little in comparison to that of the polytheists. In the above passage we find several miracles that happened. One of them is that God the Almighty sent down the angels to support the believers. Another miracle is the fact that God sent down rain on the believers and elevated their motivation and this happened in a region where rain is very rare and while the believers were in distress knowing that they would soon meet the enemy, who is much greater in number and better equipped.

The Qur’an and the narrations of the Infallibles (peace be upon them) point out a variety of signs that we Muslims should not only learn, but also incorporate into our everyday lives. This article will focus on the following narration that lists five signs of the believer: Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him) says, “[t]he signs of the believer are five: praying fifty-one Rak’at [including mandatory and optional prayers], Ziyarat al-Arba’een, wearing a ring in the right hand, prostration on dirt, and saying ‘Bismillah hir Rahman nir Raheem‘ in a raised voice.” (Wasa’il ush-Shi’a) http://www.islamicinsights.com/religion/the-five-signs-of-a-believer.html *Imam Muhammad b. 'Ali al-Baqir (as) once said to Muyassir: “O' Muyassir! Should I not describe to you who our Shia (true followers) are?” Muyassir replied, “But of course, may I be sacrificed for you (O' Imam).” The Imam continued: “Unquestionably they (our Shia) are like a fortified stronghold; their chests (hearts) are places that preserve the trusts (given to them such as secrets and private information) and are those who have a firm, dignified intelligence; they do not spread rumors that they are told (by others) and are not strict, severe people; nor are they people who show off. During the night time, they are as monks (they stay up in the night, busy in prayer and the worship of Allah) while during the daytime, they are as lions (active, energetic, and involved in the activities of the world and their community).” https://www.al-islam.org/ethical-discourses-vol1-makarim-shirazi/discourse-2-characteristics-shia-part-1
