Description: When and how was Shia sect founded? And how can we say that more than one billion Muslims are wrong and Shia that is in minority is right? Response: Dear friend, in Quran logic, majority is never the criteria of rightfulness, as god almighty has mentioned to this point in Quran, god says in Quran fifteen times: “أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ” Most of them do not know. Chapters: AL-ANAAM / 37 /// AL-ARAF/ 13 /// AL-ANFAL / 34 /// YUNUS / 55,… Or this verse: “أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ” Most of them do not understand. Chapters: AL-ANKABOOT / 63 and AL-HUJRAAT, 55 On the other hand if you take a look around, you’ll see that most of the people around the world are “Christian”. According to studies done by experts and global statisticians in 2005, 33% of people around the world ore “Christian” while Muslims have the second place by 21%. So, if we say that majority is the criteria of rightfulness, so you should become “Christian”, because in your opinion, is that possible 33% of people are wrong and 21% of people of the world are right? Source: Wikipedia If you’re fair, you’ll find out that you’re wrong. As for this matter that why the population of Sunni is more than Shias, it requires independent conversation and it has different reasons either, at this time it’s irrelevant to our discussion, but we’ll talk about it later if it’s necessary. But about this saying of yours that Shia sect was founded in “Safvid dynasty”, we take it for granted that you’re not aware of history and issues written in your own books {Sunni books}, to resolve any ambiguity, pay attention to following issues: قال تعالي ( إن الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات أولئك هم خير البرية ) . لما نزلت هذه الآية قال الرسول لعلي يا علي ( ع ) هم أنت و شيعتك . When this verse: “But those who believe and do good deeds are the best of all creatures” was sent down, Prophet Muhammad [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] said to commander of the faithful Ali [AS]: the meaning of this verse is you and your Shias. Sura AL-BAYYINA, verse 7 “ibn Hajar al-Haytam”, Al-Sawa’iq al-Muhriqah, p 96 /// “Al-Hakim Haskani”, Shawahid al-Tanzil, v 2, p 356 // “Al-Khwarizmi”, Al-Manaqib, p 62 and 187 // Al-Suyuti, al-Durr al-Manthur, v 6, p 379 // “Tafsir al-Tabari”, v 3, p 146 /// “Al-Shukani”, Fath al-Qadir, v 5, p 477 // “Al-Juwayni”- Fara’id al-Simtayn- v 1, p 156 and …. “... Commander of the faithful Ali [AS] said: prophet [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] told me: O “Ali” when day of resurrection comes up, some will come out of their graves that their clothing is made of light and are riding camels made by light and those camels’ tether is made of ruby, and angels will see them off to resurrection, then prophet said: they are those who have accepted your guardianship and Imamate, they’re your Shias, they like you because they like me and they like me because they like god, they get to salvation on the day of resurrection. “Ibn Asakir”- The History of Damascus, v42, p “Ibn Asakir” quotes from “Jabir bin Ansari” who said: I was with prophet [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] that “Ali” [AS] came to us, then messenger of god [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] said: your brother came, Then he turned towards “Ka’aba” and knocked it and said: swear by god that my life is in his hands, indeed, this man and his Shias get to solvation on the day of resurrection. Then prophet Muhammad [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] said: “Ali” is the first guy who believed in me, amongst you, he’s the most loyal one to divine promise and is the most steadfast one in divine orders and the most righteous one in dealing with subordinates and the fairest one and is better than all of you with god. “Jabir” said: then this verse “But those who believe and do good deeds are the best of all creatures”, was sent down about Hadrat “Ali” [AS], and whenever “Ali” [AS] would come, prophet [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] would say: the best creature of god has come. “Ibn Asakir”, The History of Damascus- v 42- p “Ibn Abbas” says: when this verse “But those who believe and do good deeds are the best of all creatures” was sent down, messenger of god [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] said to “Ali” [AS]: the meaning of this verse is you and your Shias, on the day of resurrection, you and your Shias will come while you’re pleased of god and god is pleased of you and your enemy will come while he’s angry and perished… “Zarandi al-Hanafi”- Nazm durari al-Simtayn- p 92 ... عن الشعبي عن علي قال : قال رسول الله صلي الله عليه وسلم : " أنت وشيعتك في الجنة " “Shu’bi” quotes from commander of the faithful [AS] that prophet Muhammad [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] said: {O Ali}, you and your Shias will go to paradise on the day of resurrection. “History of Baghdad”- v 12, p 284 “أن رسول الله صلي الله عليه وسلم قال لعلي أنت وشيعتك تردون علي الحوض رواة مرويين بيضة وجوهكم وان عدوك يردون علي الحوض ظمأ مقمحين” Messenger of god [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] said: O “Ali”! {On the day of resurrection} you and your Shias will come to me next to “Al Kawthar” {name of a river, its pool and springs} while you’re watered and your faces are bright and your enemy will come to me next to “Al-Kawthar” while he’s thirsty and perished. “Al-Tabarani”- al-Mu’jam al-Kabir- v 1, p 319, Hadith No. 948 There are about forty narratives with such contents in Sunni resources. Names of some of companions of prophet [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] who were Shia: “Al-Dhahabi” says about “Hujr bin ‘Adi bin Jabala bin ‘Adi”: “وهو حجر الخير ... أبو عبد الرحمن الشهيد . له صحبة ووفادة ... وكان شريفا ، أميرا مطاعا ، أمارا بالمعروف ، مقدما علي الانكار ، من شيعة علي رضي الله عنهما” He’s “Hujr bin ‘Adi”, his nickname is “Abu abd ar-Rahman” who was martyred. He’s amongst the companions of Prophet Muhammad [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] and he was honorable man and obedient ruler and would order to the good a lot and he was always pioneer in forbidding from the evil and he’s amongst the Shias of “Ali” [AS]. “Al-Dhahabi”- Siyar al’A’lam al-Nubala- v 3, p 463 “Al-Dhahabi” writes about “Wahab al-Hamdani al-Khaywani al-Kufi”: “من كبراء شيعة علي ... أسلم في حياة النبي صلي الله عليه وسلم” He was amongst great Shias of “Ali” [AS]… he became Muslim during prophet [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)]’s life. “Al-Dhahabi”- Siyar al-A’lam al-Nubala- v 3, p 180 “Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr” says about “abu al-Tufail al-Sahabi”: أبو الطفيل عامر بن واثلة الكناني .. وقد ذكره ابن أبي خيثمة في شعراء الصحابة... وكان متشيّعاً في علي. “Abu Tufail” …. “Ibn abi Khithamah” has said his names amongst poet companions and he was amongst Shias of “Ali” [AS]. “Al-Isti’ab”- Ibn Abd al-Barr, v 4, p 1696 “Ibn abi al-Hadid” says: “وكان سلمان من شيعة علي ( عليه السلام ) وخاصته” “Salman” was amongst Shias of “Ali” [AS] and his particular companions. “Ibn abu al-Hadid”- comments on the Peak of Eloquence- v 18, p 39 “Mas’udi Shafi’i” says: “أن الإمام عليا أقام ومن معه من شيعته في منزله بعد أن تمت البيعة لأبي بكر” After people swore allegiance with “Abu-Bakr”, Imam “Ali” [AS] and his Shias sat-in in Ali [AS]’s house. “Al-Mas’udi”- Ithbat al-Wasiyyah “Taqi al-Din Sabki” writes in the book “Al-Tabaqat al-Shafi’iyah” that “Mas’udi Sahafi’i” is one of the Shafi’i-faith scholars. “Al-Tabaqat al-Shafi’iyah”- v 3, p 456-457 “Subhi Saleh” says: “كان بين الصحابة حتي في عهد النبي ( صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم ) شيعة لربيبه علي ، منهم : أبو ذر الغفاري ، والمقداد بن الأسود ، وجابر بن عبد الله ، وأبي بن كعب ، وأبو الطفيل عمر بن وائلة ، والعباس بن عبد المطلب وجميع بنيه ، وعمار بن ياسر ، وأبو أيوب الأنصاري” even during prophet [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)]’s life, some of companions of prophet were Shias of Ali -trained by prophet- such as: “Abu Dhar Ghifari”, “Meqdad bin Aswad”, “Jabir bin Abdullah, “Ubay bin Ka’b”, “Abu Tufail ‘Amir bin Wathilah”, “Abbas bin abd al-Mattalib”, “Ammar bin Yasir” and “Abu Ayyub al-Ansari”. At the time prophet Muhammad [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)], many of companions would be known as the friends and followers of “Ali” [AS], such as “Salman” who said: we swore allegiance with prophet [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] to do good deeds to Muslims and accept the Imamate and guardianship of “Ali” and like him. Other guys such as: “Abi Sai’id Khederi”… and “Abu Dhar Ghaffari”, “Ammar ibn Yasir”, “Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman”, “Abi Ayyub Ansari”, “Khālid ibn Sa`īd” and “Qais ibn Sa’d” were amongst those companions as well. “Khitat al-Sham”, v 5, p 251 – 256 “Ibn Hazm” says: “وروينا عن نحو عشرين من الصحابة أن أكرم الناس علي رسول الله ( صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم ) علي بن أبي طالب” We have narrative from about twenty of companions of prophet [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] that “Ali bin Abi Talib” was the most respectable person with prophet [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)]. “Al-Fasl fi al-Melal wa aI-Ahwa’ wa al-Nihal- v 3, p 32 The foundation of Shia in Sunni scholars’ quotation “Ibn Khaldun” says about the beginning of the appearance of Shia: “مبدأ دولة الشيعة: اعلم أنّ مبدء هذه الدولة، أنّ أهل البيت لمّا توفي رسول اللّه صلي اللّه عليه وسلّم كانوا يرون أنّهم أحق بالأمر وأنّ الخلافة لرجالهم دون سواهم من قريش. وفي قصّة الشوري أنّ جماعة من الصحابة كانوا يتشيعون لعلي ويرون استحقاقه علي غيره ولمّا عدل به إلي سواه تأففوا منه وأسفوا له مثل الزبير ومعه عمار بن ياسر والمقداد بن الأسود وغيرهم” “Ibn Khaldun” says about the beginning of the appearance of Shia: Know that the beginning of founding Shia is that when prophet Muhammad [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] passed away, “Ahl al-Bayt” [AS] would say that caliphate is our inalienable right and believed that men of “Bani Hashim” deserve caliphate and other men of “Quraysh” tribe have no right in caliphate. In the matter of “council” -in which Abu-Bakr was selected as caliph- some of companions were considered as Shias of “Ali” [AS] and they believed that no one deserves to be caliph other than “Ali bin abi Talib” [AS] and when another guy became caliph they express hatred, such as: “Zubayr”, “Ammar bin Yasir”, “Meqdad bin Aswad” and others. The history of Ibn Khaldun”- v 3, p 171 Master “Muhammad ibn Abd Allah Anan” says: “من الخطأ أن يقال : إن الشيعة ظهرت ولأول مرة عند انشقاق الخوارج . بل كان بدء الشيعة وظهورهم في عصر الرسول ( صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم ) حين أمره الله بإنذار عشيرته في الآية 214 من الشعراء : (وأنذر عشيرتك الأقربين) ولبي النبي فجمع عشيرته في بيته وقال لهم مشيرا إلي علي : هذا أخي ووصيي وخليفتي فيكم فاسمعوا له وأطيعوا” It’s wrong if someone says Shia was first founded at the time of “Khawarij” sedition, but the beginning of appearing Shia was during prophet [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)]’s life, the beginning of prophetic mission, it means the same time that god said to his prophet [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)]: “Warn your tribe and your near kinsmen”, then prophet [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] gathered his relatives in his home and pointed out to “Ali” and said: this person is my brother, ad my successor amongst you after me, so listen to him and obey him. Shia was the title of those who were the friends of commander of the faithful at the time of prophet [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] and would be known as those who like “Ali” [AS], guys such as: “Salamn Farsi”, “Abu Dhar Ghaffari”, “Meqdad ibn Aswad”, “Amamr ibn Yasir”, and they were called Shia of “Ali” and companions of “Ali”. “Muhammad bin Sajestani”- the book of al-Zinat, p 65 /// “Saleh al-Wardani al-Mustabsar”- Shia in Egypt, p 10 “وكان عامّة المهاجرين وجلّ الأنصار لا يشكّون أنّ عليّاً هو صاحب الأمر بعد رسول اللّه” Most of “Muhajirin” {those who emigrated with Prophet Muhammad [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)] from Mecca to Medina, the event known in Islam as The Hijra} and “Ansar” had no doubt that after messenger of god [(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)], “Ali” [AS] is the caliph. “The History of Ya’qubi”- v 2, p 103

The ongoing clash between the Nigeria Army and the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, popularly known as the Shi’ite movement, took a more dangerous dimension as soldiers yesterday raided the residence of the Shi’ite leader, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and arrested him. Insiders within the Islamic sect told LEADERSHIP that Zakzaky’s wife, Malama Zeenat; his son, Sayyid Aliyu, and over 300 members of the Shi’ite, including senior members, were killed by the soldiers. Others killed by the troops, according to the president of Media Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim Musa, in the over 24-hour long raid, included the leader of the Kano Centre and Zakzaky’s deputy, Sheikh Muhammad Mahmud Turi; the movement’s medical director, Dr Mustapha Sa’eed; the spokesman of the group, Malam Ibrahim Usman, and a top female leader of the group, Jummai Gilima. The late Mahmud Turi was a columnist with LEADERSHIP newspapers and wrote every Friday. Salam Alaikum everyone, There is a Hadith regarding the use of Nigella Sativa in the Sunni traditions, narrated by - you guessed it, Abu Hurayra - and I know what Shia believe regarding his character. The Hadith states that it is good for general well-being - or for treatment of diseases in general. There is a large amount of Shia Literature and I don't have the time to go through it, but is there any mention of this Plant being good or useful,or anything that agrees with Hurayra's narration? I want narrations from shia sources only and also can it even cure HIV...?? Thanks in advance to any informed reply!

video Shi'a Islam and Contemporary Pakistani Education
Muntazir e Mahdi posted a topic in Urdu /
I made a video recently on how the current content of education material plays a role in the oppression of Shi'a Muslims. I posted the video in General Islamic Discussion before, but just now realised that since it is so focused on Pakistani education, I should post it here. JazakAllah- 2 replies

as salaam alakim!!! Ive notice in the west especially the US, theres not alot of shia centers like sunni(probobly because shia community is small here), anyway, i had a hard time getting accepted in to the community, and others as well, i know Sunnis and Salafis welcome reverts, and had better resources, and lit and more tools, but when it comes to the Shia communty its not all there, i mean its a small community and its hard to get in contact with a maulana or shaykh. Ad some seem unwelcoming, i head about some converts getting the cold shoulder, i know in other wester coutries shias accept reverts, but what do foriegn and born shias think?

This is my story on how I became a Shia Muslim. I became a Shia Muslim recently with help from friends and from ShiaChat. To begin with, I grew up in a heavily Anti-Shia society, where loads of allegations were stirred up against Shias. Some of these allegations were like Shias mixing blood with food and spitting in water etc. At first I began to believe this until I was in 7th grade, where I met a Shia person for the first ever time in my life. I had a long conversation with him about Shia Islam and he cleared many doubts, which Inclined me to be more kind to Shias. However, Some of my Sunni Friends told me that Shias are like Hindus and they whip themselves and etc, and because of this I became Anti-Shia for a while and I avoided Shias in my School. Eventually, I made many Shia friends and Sunni friends in 8th grade, yet we rarely talked about Sects in Islam, until 10th Muharram of this year. My Shia friends debated with some Sunnis over Ali (AS)' Imamate and how he should have became the first Khalifa. And I was surprised to see that My Sunni friends were Cursing Ali ((عليه السلام)) and praising Khwarij groups. They started to label people as Kafir and Munafiq and they eventually broke ties with my Shia friends. I was shocked that they insulted a Member of the Ahlul Bayt and I remained in confusion for quite some time, until my Shia friends told me to read Kitab Al Kaafi and other Shia books so I could understand them even better than what I heard from Sunnis. As I started to read Kitab al Kaafi, I became so interested in it, that I preferred some of its Ahadith over Al Bukhari. I eventually told my Shia Friends that I wanted to become a Shia. I took their advice and they told me to search online. I returned to them and I told them that I became a Shia and I believe in the Wilayat of Imam Ali ((عليه السلام)) and in Usul Ad Din. (Thanks to Shia Chat.) They told me to stay in a State of Taqiyyah and to not tell my family until a few years later when I move out. Ever since I have became Shia, I have adapted the Shia Method of Praying and I have talked a lot about Shia Islam with them. May Allah bless them for helping me see the Truth and may Allah Bestow his mercy on us all. Ameen.

Salam Alaykum. I am a Sunni Muslim who has been interested in Shia Islam for ages. I have adapted the Shia way of Praying, and I follow many other Shia Beliefs as well. Upto this stage, I was wondering if there was anything I should to do to make me a Shia Muslim? Kind Regards. Qasim.

Salam Alaikum Ok guys, this may sound odd but if you read on Albert Einstein, you'll find some people claim he was communicating with Ayatollah Borujerdi (ra), and learning about Shia Islam. Albert Einstein was an extremely intelligent and wise man, so it doesn't fascinate me that he was searching for the truth, or worried about his afterlife. Now the thing is, many claim he was an atheist. I think he has his own quotes that support he doesn't believe in the afterlife. However, if the grand Ayatollah wanted to keep this little communication a secret, because Einstein may have been assassinated, is there truly a possibility this occurred? Could it be that he changed his agnostic views, and turned towards Allah but kept it a secret? I want to hear your opinions because this is very interesting.

9 misconceptions about Shia Islam that need to stop! AYAApril 15, 2016, 2:41 pm 93 203309 “O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.” (The Holy Quran 49:13) As Muslims, we already have enough Islamophobia and religious misunderstandings to occupy our lives until the end of time. Therefore the misunderstandings and bigotry that happen within our own communities is baffling and honestly quite sad, often targeted at the smaller and often more marginalized Shia Muslim communities. The amount of times I’ve come out as Shia to my non-Shia friends and have them either explode in anger or silently shake their heads in disrespect is uncountable, and unfortunately this happens to many of us on a daily basis. In a small attempt to clear out the misunderstandings and help foster a new environment of dialogue and open discussion, here are some of the most common misunderstandings of Shia Muslims that I’ve come across: https://themuslimvibe.com/faith-islam/in-practice/9-misconceptions-about-shia-muslims-that-need-to-stop

Asalamu aleykum wa rahmatullahi wa baraktuh brothers and sisters Its have been a while that I was visiting ShiaChat again. I want share some experience I made between the realtionship of Shia Islam and Orthodox Christianity and especially also in the eastern world. Orthodox Christians are well know as people from Eastern Europe like Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, etc. or in the Balkans like Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece etc. and also in the MIddle East in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Iran, Armenia, Georgia, Turkey. I sometimes talk with a friend of Bulgaria and seems to have a very symphathy for Shia Muslims. He told me that both religions share similiarties in many views of practising religion itself and as also the suffer of the crusades (Orthodox Christians suffered from the 4th crusades, there have been in many centuries a conflict between Orthodoxy and Catholicism). Aswell he appreciate the support of shiite militias helping christian minorieties like Hezbollah many times did. Also take a look into this webpage from a Orthodox community which talk about the relation between the two religions: https://souloftheeast.org/2016/01/22/the-orthodox-shia-alliance/ What text impressed me really of this page was that part: " From the first, in the Shia-Sunni split, there have been interesting parallels with Christendom amongst the followers of Ali. Martyrdom is treated very seriously by the Shi’ites on account of the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali at the Battle of Karbala, which, in particular, is of a Christian type. The seventy-two followers of Husayn, who were hopelessly outnumbered in the fight against an army of five thousand, behaved chivalrously, riding out one at a time to draw the fighting away from their main camp, in order to protect the women and children who were with them; Husayn himself did the same thing, and fought in personal combat against the armies of Yazid, and was killed. His body and those of his followers were mutilated outrageously. But in that battle, they laid down their lives for their friends in the same way many military saints of our Church have done. This is not to say, naturally, that the Islamic theology they held to, with its Arian presuppositions, is correct or justified, or that Husayn (or Sheikh al-Nimr) should be treated as a saint by Christians. Only, rather, that the Shia Muslims have for their own prominent spiritual model, a type which (whether consciously or not) recalls the self-sacrifice of Christ." It was also a pleasure to read the comments and some are very interesting how they view us: "Mark Citadel says: January 23, 2016 at 2:34 pm Powerful article. I am very much interested in this topic, as Russian Christian Reactionaries are reaching for alliance with the Shia resistance in the Middle East. I think one can also draw a parallel in the semi-aristocratic nature of the priesthood. Sunni Islam is far more akin to Protestantism than anything else, in which anyone can become an Imam. Shia understand the need for the Traditional structures of warrior and priest in a far more authentic way. I was amazed to find the Alawite sect celebrate Christmas as we do!" "AriusArmenian says: January 26, 2016 at 5:12 pm I rejoice in the victories of the Syrian people over the head choppers and liver eaters that are backed by the US and its Anglosphere and EU vassals and its Middle Eastern proxies. For me it is personal. I will never forget that a Syrian army of mostly Muslim young men fought and died to liberate and protect Christian Kessab after the Turk vermin opened the border to allow the Western backed jihadis to enter and kill Armenians. What did the West do? It backed the Turks and jihadi vermin. The US will back Turkey no matter what it does." Note i dont want to make any conflict because the man metioned Turkey. The relationship between Shia Islam and Orthodox Christianity is very common in the Middle East likewise the relation between Armenia and Iran especially during the time were the Ottomans persecuted the Armenians and they were accepted by the Iranians and also by Syrians and Lebanese. In Lebanon the famous founder of the Amal Movement Musa as-Sadr (R.I.P) had a good relation with Christians. On February 19, 1975, fathers of the Saint Louis Capuchin Cathedral in Beirut was the first time in the history of Islam and Christianity that a Muslim cleric was carrying out a Christian religious rite and that was Musa as-Sadr! During the disastrous civil war in Lebanon, he said in an interview: “One of the most important objectives behind the plots that struck Lebanon was to destroy the form of coexistence and national unity in Lebanon. When coexistence is targeted by a plot, the symbols of coexistence will definitely be the first to be attacked." “I do not suppose anyone in Lebanon to be a symbol of national unity as much as I am, because in addition to the cultural, social, and political contacts and all-out relations I have with all Lebanese sects, I reached a point that, three years ago at Saint Louis Capuchin Cathedral, I preached Christians during the Lent. No one in the world has reached such a position. That was just like a Christian clergyman preaching Muslims during the Friday prayers. So I became the symbol of national unity, and thus, the plot directly targeted me,” “We have gathered for the human being; the human being for whom religions came; the religious which were of the same origin, and each promised the emergence of the other, and acknowledged each other,” "Every bullet that is shot at a Christian town is as if it is shot at my home, heart, & children." - Sayid Musa Sadr A similiar untiy can be also find in Syria between the Alawites or the Shia minority toward the Orthodox Syrians. Since the independence of Syria againt the colonialist power of France, unity was a very important symbol even today with the government of Assad. In my opinion the eastern world is more open when its about the dialogue between Islam and Christianity (besides from any secretarian group). Instead in the western world it seems difficult to talk about it since the media and authors are potraying Islam far from Christianity. We really should be open about it instead of giving us judgements which nowadays sadly happen many times. Thats all what I have to say Wa aleykum salam

So I just wanted to share my story with the world. I'm a 16 year old who grew up in a Sunni family. Once I was just scrolling through my newsfeed when a quote popped up, "learn your religion, do not inherit it -Imam ali (as)" I pondered the question as to why there's an (AS) written next to Hazrat Ali's name. This happened in February. Slowly and gradually I started searching for Shia Islam. Some of the things I read were very shocking as I'd never even heard of them. Days passed and I kept searching. Somehow I refused to believe the event of ghadeer as it condricted my belief. But then I started going in depth of it and it all made sense to me. So then I started searching for the details about battle of Karbala, because I'd never been taught about Karbala in depth. Even at school it wasn't one of the topics people would discuss in length. After watching countless documentaries on the battle of Karbala and Shia Islam I felt really disturbed. I thought that maybe there was something wrong with me, I could hardly sleep at night because half of the time I would be researching. Before all this I would barely ever pray in fact I was not at all religious. But after all the confusion I went to Allah and prayed to him. I prayed to him to show me the right path, whether Sunnism or shi'ism or any other sect. And Allah showed me signs in my dreams TWICE and that was a really big thing which helped me convert. And after that I started praying. I tried my best to be punctual. For some weird reason I had always been attracted to Shia Islam. When I was young and the day of ashura came there was this line that always popped up on the the tv which was "YA HUSSAIN" and at that time I didn't know but I was still really interested in learning. Well this this is my story, maybe it doesn't make sense but I just wanted to share it with someone. I've talked to this about my family and alhamdullilah they're all very supportive. Now that Muharram is here I wish I could attend a majilis or something to continue my love for ahlulbayt, but for now I just listen to nauha's and pray as I don't know what exactly to do but IA I'll learn. Labaik Ya Hussain

I have just joined this site though I should introduce myself here.I was raised as Muslim and I left Islam a year ago.As I was raised a Sunni I had no idea what are the core beliefs of Shia Muslims and how they are different from mainstream Muslims.Only thing I knew about Shia was that they abuse sahaba that was my knowledge about shia.I am curious to know about shias.I would be very grateful if anybody can help me understand shias. These are few of my questions. Does Shia beleive that Sunnis are Muslims ? please don't give your personal opinion.I wanna know about what Shia theology says about sunnis. Are they gonna go to "Jannat" ? And more important is it part of shia religion to abuse sahaba or just they curse first three caliphs out of sheer hatred ?

Hi everyone, I have a question for my Iranian brothers and sisters. What is the view of Iran's Islamic revolution by Iranians? By Iranians I mean those living in Iran.

Hi everyone, I was wondering, how did Shiism spread to the Indian subcontinent? By Shiism, I am referring to Twelver Shiism. I know that Ismailis were spread throughout the subcontinent before Twelver Shias, most notably in Multan (until they were exterminated by Mahmud of Ghazna). I believe that Twelver Shiism only became popular in the subcontinent after the rise of the Safavids in Iran. Is it possible that the rise of Twelver Shiism in the subcontinent was due to Shia missionary activity and migrations from Iran to Mughal India? I believe this to be the case as there were many Persians in the Mughal Empire and almost all were Shias. Another interesting thing to note is that Bangladesh has a very low Shia population, what is the reason for this? I'm curious as there were Bengali Nawabs who were Shia, but I guess they didn't enforce their religion on their people. Muhammad XII

Salaam Dear Brothers and Sisters, So, i have started looking for a suitable match recently for myself. And i have come across this real problem. Maybe, i am thinking too shallow, or maybe that is how our society has turned out to be. There are 2 things i want to state here and get your opinion on what's going on here. 1. There are profiles of people where they mention, they are VERY religious and would want someone to be religious and who is striving to be perfect and what not. However, in their profile, they have mentioned that they are not willing to relocate to another country. Although, at first this seems like a non-issue. However, if someone is actually looking for someone who is very religious; then the choice becomes quite narrow. So, when someone from a country other than the potential "very religious" person's home country comes across their profile, there is this almost impenetrable barrier; geographical location. There are a plenty of examples in Islamic history that arabs married non-arabs, quraish married hashimis and so on., then why would this location thing become a barrier for a very religious person? they may have their reasons and everything BUT still, why? Now, i am not saying that it is wrong, nonetheless, this becomes really very irritating for us living here in Pakistan. 2. There are many mentions in our religion that if we can find someone pious; that should be enough of a decision parameter in terms of marriage; But no, today everything else matter BUT piety in most cases. Parents want their son-in-laws to be on the higher side from the perspective of this world and least care about how they are for the next world. Someone who owns properties and a number of cars would be preferred over someone who is just able to make ends meet and earn a lawful living. Where does the pious man go then when all he wants to do is save his half of religion? P.S: the website i am referring to is www.shiamatch.com
