Assalam Alaykum, my name is Basheera and I am a Shia woman. I was born into an incredibly strict Sunni family, but happily I converted a few years ago when I was 18. I had severe depression trying to figure out my identity and purpose of life until I found Shia Islam, and luckily now I am much healthier, mentally and physically. However though, I have a big problem. Please please read this whole thing before you comment and don't insult me because I've been seeking help for years, from imams (all Sunni though) and Muslim friends. This may be a bit long but I am seeking answers and help. While I am a Muslim, I am lgbt. I have known since I was 11, almost 12 years ago. I tried to stop it and told myself that I was only attracted to men, that this was a phase and I'd get over it, and I tried to force myself to look into husbands. I break down thinking about it and cry over my future. I have known for years and it wasn't a problem at first, but because now I am a practicing muslim I feel... fake? I'm not sure how to feel but I cannot stop my feelings. I know now, 12 years later, that it is not a phase and I cannot ignore it no matter how hard I try. People told me that I choose the way I feel, but wallahi I would never ever choose to feel like this. I worry about my future and if I truly am a Muslim. I talked to imams and read the Quran and many Hadiths regarding lgbt. The imams told me that lgbt muslims do exist, however they must hold back their feelings to stop themselves from committing haram, and in a way it is a form of Jihad. I understood that and I have done that for years, holding myself back and hiding in secret. As I said before I am a convert and a practicing muslim, I love islam but this problem has always been in the back of my mind and I don't think I can hold it back/ignore it anymore. My question is, does being lgbt automatically mean I'm not a muslim? Does it contradict Islam? (Wallahi I've been lgbt for many years and I swear on the Quran I would not feel this way if it was a choice. I hate it so much). Would I ever be accepted as a muslim by a Shia scholar? Am I haram? Even when I keep my feelings to myself? I am crying writing this, I have talked to many Sunni imams, but now that I'm Shia I want an answer from Shias. I hope nobody thinks ill of me or insults me, I am trying my best. Please someone help me and answer me, do I contradict Islam? Am I a fake muslim? Should I leave Islam (am I making Islam look bad)? Thank you so much for reading and please give your honest opinion, shukran.

For the past couple of weeks, I have heard about how Sheikh Jaffer Jaffer has said something controversial about some Pakistani cultural practices. In my community, there has been a huge uproar from the Pakistani side. Anyways context aside, does anyone know what he said and as well what are your opinions on it. (I personally think that you should not be getting so mad about it because it is culture not religion)

حوزة الامام الحسين (ع) في وندزر كندا Imam Hussain (A.S.) Hawza in Windsor, Canada *Message is in English and Arabic* بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم تعلن حوزة الإمام الحسين (عليه السلام) عن قبولها لطلاب جدد للعام الدراسي 2017-2018. تدرس في الحوزة مواد مرحلة المقدمات ومرحلة السطوح. تستغرق هاتان المرحلتان ما يقارب عشر سنين. Imam Hussain Hawza would like to inform of its acceptance of new students for the year 2017-2018. The Hawza provides its students with the first two stages of Hawza: Muqadimat (introductory stage) and Sutooh (intermediate stage). Both of these stages require about 10 years to complete. INTRODUCTION Due to the increase of Muslims in North America, there is an urgent demand for Islamic scholars. Hundreds of Islamic centers and mosques are in need of clergymen (ulama) to teach and preach them. The demand is more for ulama who speak the language of the country i.e. English and French. All these needs necessitated the establishment of a Hawza in North America to help meet the needs of individuals interested in studying Islam instead of them having to be forced to migrate to Iraq or Iran for their higher religious educational needs. Imam Hussain Hawza For Islamic & Arabic Studies Imam Hussain Hawza was established in January 2006 and had its opening ceremony on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadeer1426H. Asalamu Alaikum, Are there any scholars who answer questions online? I don't mean fiqhi questions, but any question related to Islam e.g. philosophy, theology, ethics etc etc In the 21st century I think we have to understand that many people just don't go to their local moulana for whatever reason. Many people would rather ask questions online and we should try and make this available. So are there any scholars who do this? If so, can I have their emails or websites please. And if not, I urge anyone who knows a scholar to try and make this happen. Thanks :)

Salam alaykom brothers and sisters! I am a shia myself and right now I am trying to find the right by myself instead of just being born as a shia and accept it that way. My problem here is, why is there so many videos like this one below? Are scholars like this just talking like this because they dont know better? This makes no sense to me. Why are these scholars saying these stuff? Can someone please help? I just want to know the truth. This video maybe is something that the enemy has created to make shias look bad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=z--2O_hzqLw

(salam) Recently there has been much discussion about the rights of certain scholars to be on the pulpit and whether they are qualified and so forth- Especially in regards to the wrong thing being said in lectures. Please vote in the poll and answer the following questions: 1. How much formal knowledge in your opinion should a scholar have before he is allowed to recite on the pulpit? Would you trust a scholar who had studied In Hawza more than the one who self studied even if they studied the same books. 2. At what point does it become acceptable for a scholar to wear a turban (amama)? Thank you Also I just edited the post to make it anonymous. If it didn't work kindly inform me as I am new to this. Thank you.

I believe the Quran says --> (2:163) And your god is one God. There is no deity [worthy of worship] except Him, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. In other words... We do not worship or pray to the prophets, imams, khalifa's, scholars, or any human being! JUST GOD!
