  1. Someone recently told me that we males NEED to wash the peeing organ with water after peeing, and wiping it with paper is not enough and it will make all my past salah not accepted and i have to re do the salahs. i did NOT know that. this got me thinking now, i have no idea how many years i have done that, and how many salahs that is not accepted now because of that. can someone with knowledge please help me and tell me if I need to RE do the past years salahs? if i don't need to redo them? if just wiping is okay?
  2. Bismillah irrahman irrahim please advise me how to pray 34 rak'ah of nawafil salah, because I have never been taught of how to pray them. I know the timings though, but not how to pray them, meaning how many rak'ah is one salah. Jazakumullahu khairan shukran afwan
  3. Salem aleykum brothers and sisters, Please bear with me as I have afew things to get through. Discussing this topic is quite intimidating and embarrassing, hence why I haven't managed to pluck up the courage to seek out help and knowledge untill now. And I would like it if you were a little considerate with your answers please, Thank you. So, my topic is Janaba from masturbation. It all started around a year ago when I first started this bad habit, it was out of curiosity initially but eventually became an addiction. At that time of the year I was in a very depressed state, often thinking about suicide ( for no particular reason.) The urge was strong but I never went ahead with it because I did not want to think that I have become hopeless of my creator. I was aware that suicide was haram and it is irreversible. So, i would often just try and find ways to feel better to get rid of those thoughts. and I guess that's where the idea of masturbation came from ( since medically it's seen as stress relieving etc.) Though I knew masturbation is haram but I had to weigh up the odds of it taking me out of that mindset of suicide (which is irreversable)(and yes i know there are better ways but barely anything worked for me at the time) And it was only intended as temporary thing. But it became a horrible addiction pretty soon that continued for the past year. It started to make me depressed even more because I knew I was disobeying Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì and prayed for help +repented. But after a while I gave up. Because even after I would repent out of guilt and said I wouldn't do it, I did it again. Nonetheless, I eventually managed to cut down the activity (pretty much stopped it) but then again I can never be to sure of myself. All I am sure of is that I want to do whatever I can to compensate for my actions so they may be pardoned. I know that closeness to Allah (Praises be to him) is the only thing that can give me peace in its entirety. Alhamdulilah, this Ramadan has been a blessing and really healing for me so far. However, I made the mistake again last night after a streak of going quite a long time without it(for me.) If there is any time of the year to kick evil habits it is Ramadan. Inshallah, I will continue to try. If you if you have any Duas, recommendations etc for this sort of thing, that would be really helpful. Now for my real question: all of this past year that I have been praying etc is without ghusl of Janaba. My fasts up untill now were without them too. Its not that i lack islamic knowledge generally, I do often seek it and practice it. However, I never came across Janaba in regards to woman doing them. I didn't know State of Janaba was a thing! Im not that old to be married. it's not a topic that is taught to young girls because I guess it is assumed they will do not masturbate. (Unlike males where it is kind of expected of them so they are prewarned about it.) Even online there isn't much about females in this sort of area. Firstly I'm still unsure and confused, can a female enter state of Janaba through masturbation? If so that means that I have been impure while doing my fasts and prayers up untill now. I am concerned as to what I should do about the fasts i have kept this Ramadan so far. Do they count? Should I make up for them? What about my salah? A whole year worth of my salah is invalidated? Do I have to redo them? Bearing in mind I didn't start regularly praying till like 14/15 or so. (Wasn't religious/ didn't understand my religion well) though alhamdulillah God guided me eventually and discover the sweeteness of salah. I have always intended to makeup those 5 years but don't know how and never got around to it. And now will another year's worth be added on to it? How can I make it possible to complete them with every day responsibilities like School, work etc. I apologise for the lengthy post but the reason why I described everything was maybe if any of you find faults in my thinking or ways maybe able to point out and help. Help a sister out of ignorance. Thank you for your time and may Allah send his mercy and blessings on all of you and your families this Ramadan. Inshallah
  4. Salam aleykum, I was wondering how one can pray on an airplane when one cannot do it standing? I have heard many different things and I would just like some clarity regarding how it is done. In the past I have been lucky with prayer times but I have a flight coming up iA where I think my prayers will become qadha if i dont perform them in the air.
  5. Assalamu Alaikum, I have a question regarding the combination of salah. Note : Kindly answer with reference to actual rulings from the scholars and if it’s the same with all marja’s Question : When we combine prayers ( Ex : Dhuhr and Asr ) , Shias consider The time from the beginning of dhuhr to end of asr is considered as a common time to pray both the prayers, but sunnis cannot pray dhuhr during asr unless as qadha after asr, correct? But this doesn’t apply to the shias, as they consider it a common time, correct? Now, Let’s say Dhuhr is between 12:30 to 3:00 and Asr is between 3:00 to 5:30 , ( As per sunni rulings ) , Can i pray dhuhr at 4 ( inside asr time ) and pray asr seperately at 5:15 ( inside asr time ) as well. Or is the ruling for combination is one prayer after another and no long gap inbetween? Thank you in advance
  6. I recently watched this Youtube video (which is in Urdu). I watch these type of videos now and then. But this video has stressed me so much. As I know that Shirk is unforgivable and the biggest sin, I am scared of even practising Salah. During Salah or Prayer, millions of things and thoughts come and go through my mind. In this video, the scholar says that 99% of people are committing shirk, because people who think of someone else during prayer, are doing shirk. I just THINK he is wrong(Its just my opinion, so please correct me if I'm wrong). Shirk is simply worshipping someone else besides Allah, or compare someone else with Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى). I do not think that I am worshipping of whom I am thinking (Naa'oozu billah). I cannot stop myself from thinking other things. I know I am standing in front of Allah during prayer, but thinking of someone or something else during prayer doesn't make it shirk. If I am wrong so please correct me, I will really appreciate it, and I will try my best to think of nothing but Allah during Prayer(Salah).
  7. Salam, im confused with the subject ‘Ziarat’ Was it added in after the Prophets time and why do we do it after Salah. I dont see the problem with it but i dont understand why we do it specifically after Salah. Some say we shouldn’t prostrate to anyone other than Allah. Can i have any hadiths regarding Ziarat or can you make me understand how its permissible because if the Prophet didn’t do it why should we?? JazakAllah
  8. Hi all, I've many questions which I'd like to ask in this thread, please bear with me and I'd kindly ask you, please please please, try not to judge me as much. Before I get started, I'd like to let you know I'm a 14 year old boy who has fallen DEEP into committing the sin of masturbation. I'm not trying to return back to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) and I'd like some advice and I had some questions. Firstly, I'd like to know how I can quit of doing this sin. It's become very extreme, even to the point where I'm doing it even when I'm fasting in the holy month of ramadan. I've tried many ways, different techniques, but to no avail, I could barely go up to a week without pornography and/or masturbation. Furthermore, I follow sistani as my marja' so please when answering try to show as much proof. Secondly, I had 2 questions. Regarding the masturbation that I did in ramadan and while I was fasting during daylight hours, no ejaculation has happened and when masturbating, I had no intention of ejaculation. This actually happened, so does that mean I have to do qaza fasts AND kafarah, or only qaza fast or even none of the above? Thirdly, my other question is this. Because I used to masturbate before, I tried to keep in the ejaculation and most of the times it happened. I was also ignorant at the time, and I just searched my questions and based rulings and my sins and etc of a sunni basis. According to them, if no ejaculation happens, ghusl is not required and only wudhu would suffice, I'd like to know if it's the same for Shia islam too or would you have to do ghusl even when no ejaculation took place? I'll be looking forward to your answers, please please please, once again, try not to judge me, I'm already disappointed and embarrassed enough. Thanks.
  9. Hello, I used to masturbate before - I held in the semen and then did a wudhu and proceeded to read salah, for the times which ejaculation happened I did a ghusl - I'm unsure if I should read all my namaz as qadha again as I'm unsure if masturbation with no ejaculation invalidates salah that has been done with no ghusl before it - please guide!
  10. Assalamualaikum, I always do the azan for my prayers loudly(In my room) but my mum likes to put the azan on the computer so that it can echo around the house. Is it wrong to do this? The way I think of it is the angels come to your house when they hear the azan but doing the azan again is like calling them for no reason. If it is wrong to do this, how am I supposed to tell her?
  11. I am living in a hot country now and when I'm in my bedroom a lot of the time I don't wear a shirt. When I went to pray yesterday I put on a t-shirt and I started sweating and felt uncomfortable and distracted while praying. Then I thought for the first time - is it actually obligatory to be wearing upper body clothing? (for men OBVIOUSLY!)
  12. So, for a while now I've noticed that ny skin dries up after wudhu and I don't particularly like the feeling and I feel bad for my skin; I avoid using lotion tho cause I've read on some Sunni site that it invalidates your Salah and not your wudhu either. I know it's better to use non alcoholic lotions but it's hard to find and also why shouldn't you use alcohol containing products after wudhu? Is it fine if you wait a little and let the alcohol evaporate (like perfumes for examples)?
  13. Wasalam, Do you guys have any tips for those who struggle with praying at adhan time, and instead they keep delaying it? How is one able to rid themselves of such procrastination? Thanks!
  14. If you get your period while praying, should you stop the prayer or continue? Do you have to make it up later or no?
  15. Salaam, I was wondering if you were allowed to wear pyjamas or other clothes with images on them and covering them with a long kurta while doing namaz

    Salah

Hi, I'm learning about Shia and would like to know how you do Shia Salah? thank you
  17. Bismillah i Rahman i Raheem Salaam un Alaikum I was recently told that the proper time to perform the Asr prayer is 2 hours after the Zuhr, according to Ayatollah Sistani. However, many Shia apps often tell me the time for Asr, about 4 hours after the Zuhr. I would like to know for sure what Ayatollah Sistani says about the timing of the Asr prayer. JazakAllah Alaikum us Salam
  18. Salaam I have a simple question to ask. Is it alright if one cries while performing their prayers (Salaah)? As in, does it invalidate the prayer or no? JazakAllah W. Salaam
  19. Salaam everyone, inshaAllah you are well. I am 20, female. Baiscally, I have missed around 11 years of prayers (counting from age 9). I have prayed in between but not regularly. Also I doubt my prayers were right/accepted. I finally learnt my salaah properly recently. So now I have around 11 years of missed prayers. What is the quickest and simplest way of catching up on these prayers? I follow Sistani if that's any help. JazakAllah Khairun !!!!!!!!
  20. I learned how to pray when i was a child. But I had forgotten over time. I can't even remember how it happened. I feared telling my parents, because I did not want to get in trouble (I was still a child) and to much time passed by. I could not ask people around me, as they would get me in trouble, and I mean, I would have been in such a huge amount of trouble, and I wont list the details. It's just bad. So I tried and tried to search online, but i was still to young to know words and terms to search and when i did, it was in English roman letters, i could not understand the pronunciation. And if it were in Arabic, it would be people making false prayers for Shia's. (By the way, I am shia). Eventually, i made friends with good people who did not judge me or spread rumors about me. And helped me through with praying again. Alhamdullah, i have worked hard to be a good Muslim during the years I did not pray. But I began to feel like a complete Muslim when I started to pray. Here is another problem, the way my parents teach Salah, its forceful and not good. In fact, I don't think any of my siblings pray and don't care. During the time i did learn, it was horrible. I don't blame myself for how things came to be. And my Arabic is absolutely terrible, i did not know how to read or write and lacked speaking skills, so i could not even search in Arabic. Or in the end, i was just terrible at it. But I did put effort, and it did put me through a depression throughout the years, id cry in secret, because I did not know how to pray. Again, I worked hard to be a good Muslim, while telling Allah to forgive me and promising ill start eventually and never miss another salah. What I am curious about is, do I need to make up those prayers I had missed? I don't even remember when it happened, how it happened. I don't mind making up all the salahs, because they were salahs i wanted to perform to begin with, i never tried to miss it on purpose, and now that I pray, I don't miss a single one. Still, if I do not need to make any up, I would like to know. I follow Sayed Sistani if it helps. I thank anyone in advance for responding and helping
  21. I have learned that there are significant differences between the videos I have seen on Shi'a salah as compared to what I have been practicing as a Sunni, following the Shafi'i Madhab. These differences include: combining prayers, prostrating on a Turbah (prayer stone), not saying Ameen after al-Fatiha, the recitation upon standing from Jalsa, different words in Tahhajud, saying SubhanAllah, Al hamdu lillah, la ilaha illAllah and Allahu Akbar 3X in 3rd and 4th rakats instead of al-Fatiha, saying salam once straight ahead instead of to right then left, and 3X Allahu Akbar to end salah. I have similarly recognized differences between the 4 Sunni Madhabs and chose the Shafi'i as it seemed to me the most authentic as being based on Hadith collections.. The questions I have are, "What is the basis for the Shi'a way of offering salah and why is it significantly different?" Is it based on Shi'a collections of hadith or passed down by word of mouth and demonstration? Should we not follow the way that Prophet Muhammad (saaws) prayed as closely as humanly possible?
  22. Assalamualaikum, I will be traveling to the Middle East in a couple weeks in shaa Allah, and I have a bunch of questions regarding prayer. Keep in mind I am a relatively new convert, so please be patient with me. 1) I read that all prayers during travel are 2 rakat. What counts as "travel"? I will be traveling for around 14 days, going in between cities, staying a couple nights in each and going around either to nearby cities or exploring the city I am staying in each day. Is "travel" simply the plane rides and bus rides, or the whole trip, since I am not staying in the same place the whole time? 2) Part of my trip will be in Jerusalem, and I plan to pray at Al Aqsa in shaa Allah. I was warned by a Palestinian friend of mine, however, that it is very dangerous if I pray like a Shia there and I should do taqiyyah and perform my prayers like a Sunni. Given recent events, it is even more dangerous to be praying noticeable differently at Al Aqsa, as people might suspect me to be a Zionist actor and become violent. Do I have to make up prayers later that are performed in taqiyyah? 3) Just in general, what are the rulings on praying salat at a Sunni mosque with Sunnis? The nearest Shia mosque to me is 3 hours away, and I cannot drive. The nearest Sunni mosque is 15 minutes by bus. If I prayed Jummah there, would I follow the imam or do it the way we do it? Would I stand in line with all of the others, or just quietly do my own thing in the back? Background note, I am a woman, so since congregational Jummah prayers are not obligatory upon me, I have not been going to the mosque. 4) If I am in a situation where I am unable to find pure water or dust for wudu, should I pray anyway, or would they not count? Is impure water better than nothing? 5) What's up with sutrahs? Do we use those anymore, or does a prayer rug essentially outline the space necessary for salah? JazakAllah khair and thank you for your patience with me.
  23. Alaikum Salaam Brothers And Sisters, Allah's Blessings Be Upon You All!! So I'm Hoping I Can Be Directed To A Online Store That Sells Shia PrayerMats? I Appreciate Any And All Assistance! Alaikum Salaam! Allahumma Salli Ala Muhammad Wa Ala Ali Muhammad!!
  24. Can the nafila rakats for the prayers be offered after fard for dhuhr, asr, maghrib, and isha. And is there nafila prayer for Salat Al Jummah
  25. Salam, I have observed different ways how Shiite end up Salah. end up with assalam alaikum wa rahmatullah... and supplement with Allah akbar thrice alongside raising both hands end up with assalam alaikum wa rahmatullah... and supplement with Allah akbar thrice alongside raising both hands + second and third "Allah akbar and raising hands" is accompanied by successive turning of face right and left end up with assalam alaikum wa rahmatullah seeing on right side only... and supplement with Allah akbar thrice alongside raising both hands facing front (qibla) Please share what is right and most authentic, and if right thing is missing from above, I want to know that and correct my way of doing so. Jazakum Allah
