Salaam everyone, I recently witnessed a family member playing a video loudly on the TV of a really bad quality Quran recitation on youtube this morning. It was not an old video, therefore of lesser audio quality, but a newly uploaded video which obviously has had issues with sound being digitally set to very high with the persons voice making microphone pops in the speaker and reverb set to a extra long delay which means it was a constant stream of high frequency scratching noise in the back ground due to the low quality. I usually don't mind and even enjoy the soothing atmosphere that someone reading Quran emits. This, however, was disturbing me as it was uncomfortable and literally felt it was hurting my ears and I felt it was not properly portraying the beauty of the Quran, hence not making it sound good. I find this unlucky for the video as the person reciting is probably doing great. I asked the person to please find another video as the quality of this specific video was bothering me. This seemed to offend the person a lot and I was told to leave the room and close the door. The person took it as a some insult and I feel my faith is perceived by him to be weak somehow as he compared it to another person that is not a believer. I need help to understand what to do here. Am I wrong for wanting a clearer and better quality of audio from a video? Is it wrong that I feel disturbed that the Quran is being read with such low quality loudly? How should I talk to this person? He is older then me and his ears have started to lose a bit hearing. Thank you for your help.

S/w, In the recitation of Surah Duha why does everyone completely pronounce the last word of the 3,4,5,8, and 9th aayat Even if there is a 'to' over it? As far as I know, we have to stop(not completely pronounce) the last word if there's a 'to' over it.Am I wrong? @Simra Abbas

This is an experiment and not a competition. I would appreciate if individuals would join and try it out for the results. It is merely an exercise in knowing the possibilities and potential of reciting the Quran in that given time frame with due diligence. Time limit is 15 minutes. Recite the Surahs that are around the 20 Ayat mark. Meaning, the maximum they should be, is around the average of 20 Ayats and go down towards the smaller ones or the other way around. High to low - or - low to high. One may start with Surah al A'ala then skip some and start with Surah al-Balad and skip more, and head towards the smaller ones like al-Asr Further information is on this page http://www.al-islam.org/fawaid-e-quran-sayyid-mustafa-musawi/benefits-recitation-chapters-holy-quran#surah-al-fatihah-opening - Also it may push towards it, regarding the benefits. Thanks.

(bismillah) This Dua is very helpful for a person who recites it daily between Maghrib and Isha Prayers.(for Safety and Protection) A person in his dream saw the Holy Prophet of Islam, very sad and the person ask him the reason of sadness and he said: that during Mehraj he saw many believers being led towards hell and the reason was Iman. His umma was very weak in their Iman and He recommended this Dua for protection of his umma and it will help them in the world, after death and also in the Barzak (resurrection). This Dua is recommended by the Prophet. http://www.duas.org/Misc/dua_amaan.htm eltimas-e-dua (wasalam)

Some videos about the Sayed (this is a biography but it is in arabic) Here is one of his final last lectures, but with arabic subtitles: Here is a shorter biography with english subtitles: Brief biography of: Grand Ayatollah Imam Muhammad Shirazi - Grand Ayatollah Imam Muhammad ibn Mehdi al-Hussaini al-Shirazi is the Religious Authority, or Marje', to millions of Muslims around the globe. He belongs to a distinguished family deeply rooted in Islamic sciences, literature and virtue. The Shirazi family has produced many great scholars and Marje's (a Marje' is the highest religious authority) as well as renowned leaders. Two of the best known leaders are Grand Ayatollah Mirza Hassan Shirazi, leader of the constitutional, also known as the "tobacco" movement in Iran , and Grand Ayatollah Muhammad Taqi Shirazi, leader of the 1920 revolution in Iraq , which liberated Iraq from colonial powers. The Shirazi's father, the late Grand Ayatollah Mehdi Shirazi, has been a famous and a highly respected scholar and the Marje' of his time. He is a descendant of the holy prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. - Along with his father, Muhammad Shirazi settled in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq , at the age of nine. After primary education, the young Shirazi continued his studies in different branches of learning under his father's guidance as well as those of various other eminent scholars and specialists. In the course of his training he showed a remarkable talent and appetite for learning as well as a tireless commitment to his work and the cause he believed in. His extraordinary ability, and effort, earned him the recognition, by his father and other Marje's and scholars, of being a Mujtahid; a qualified religious scholar in the sciences of Islamic jurisprudence and law. He was subsequently able to assume the office of the Marje' at the early age of 33 in 1961. Through his original thoughts and ideas he has championed the causes of issues such as the family, human right, freedom of expression, political pluralism, nonviolence, and Shura or consultative system of leadership. - Imam Shirazi believes in the fundamental and elementary nature of freedom in mankind. He calls for freedom of expression, political plurality, debate and discussion, tolerance and forgiveness. He strongly believes in the consultative system of leadership and calls for the establishment of the leadership council of religious authorities. He calls for the establishment of the universal Islamic government to encompass all the Muslim countries. These and other ideas are discussed in detail in his books. - As a leader of the world wide Muslim community, Imam Shirazi has always opposed despotism. In 1971 he was exiled to Lebanon by the Ba'thist regime of Iraq . He later stayed in Kuwait until 1979 when he migrated to the holy city of Qum, Iran . - Imam Shirazi has established many Islamic centers, medical and charitable financial services, educational, welfare and social foundations, libraries and Hawzah's, or universities for Islamic Sciences, in different regions of the world. These institutions are found in scores of countries around the globe. - Hundreds of individuals have graduated from his school as scholars, lecturers, authors and intellectuals. - A number of books have been published in which the relative authors study Imam Shirazi's visions as seen through his vast works and publications.
