  1. Salam Alaykum everyone inshaAllah you are all well. It's been a while that I'm looking for a good Islamic reading list, which covers various topics (basic introduction, theology, laws, history, spirituality and philosophy, family, women, etc.) and is practically readable and usable for an English speaking person (doesn't matter, a Muslim seeking more information about Islam, or a non-Muslim wishing to know, or a revert etc.) so my request is two: 1- if you are aware of any Islamic reading list, can you please share it here? 2-what book about Islam have you personally read or even just browsed and found it fitting in such a list? feel free to add the name of any book you read about Islam and you liked. that is very precious to me and my list. inshaAllah together we can come up with a good and practical reading list. WSalam

  3. al-Salaamu 'Alaykum, Ramadan Mubarak! Since the holy month of Ramadan is the month of revelation, and the very first word to be revealed was "iqra!" "read!" I decided to do something worthwhile in this holy month and try to share my hundreds of Islamic books by giving short reviews of them, one Islamic book review per night of the holy month of Ramadan. So 30 Nights 30 Books! I have decided to select books at random, covering various Islamic topics, hopefully this project of mine will be of benefit. Please give me comments and suggestions for this is the very first time I'm making such videos. Night 1: The Holy Qur'an, Abdullah Yusuf Ali translation
  4. Salaam all, So I am a student. I feel like I have this block. I feel as if I don't have the capability to be successful in my project and general reading. When I want to read, I feel like I need to know everything. It is just overwhelming me. So much so that I can't open my work and just want to run away from it. I have a major exam in exactly one month, and a deadline for my research project mid month. I don't feel that I know my subject well and just really want to know and understand it. pleeasee someone give me some tips or something
  5. Hello everyone, I recently converted to Islam and I'm looking for good reads about traditions (hadeeths), philosophy and laws in English, French or Spanish. I'm looking for books with a Shia bias; Sunni stuff is interesting too for intellectual reasons, but that's not what's on my mind these days. Also, I'm studying Arabic and Persian, so if you can think of children or teenager level books that address these topics in these languages, I'm interested! :-) I'm guessing I'm not the first one to ask this question, so if you would be kind enough to direct me to the forum where I can find a good reading list, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for your help!
  6. What books by Ayatollah Mutahhari and Ali Shariati would you recommend?
  7. (bismillah) (salam) InshAllah everyone's fasts are progressing well. I have been struggling with certain letters and was hoping that you good people on ShiaChat could provide a helping hand. ha ح A sound not found in English, but like the Hebrew ח as in חלב, vaguely like h as in have ha هـ /ه h as in havedhal ذ th as in this dha ظ A sound not found in English. Pronounced like th as in this but with phonological quality similar to ص za ز z as in zebra Most of my confusion is between ذ and ظ. ح and هـ  Thanks for your help! 8. Salaam again brothers and sister's .. well i was just wondering if the same thing that happens to me happens to anyone else.. so sometimes i have a question that i dont want to ask anyone or i just dont look into it that much and usually every night after i pray maghrib/isha i read the quran , at least one surah a night and i find my self reading and i get an answer to the queston i think about (btw im not talkiing silly questions, they are real serious questions i wonder about) .. and this has happened to me a lot! subhanallah everytime it happens i find myself wanting to be closer to Allah swt, so i was wondering has this happened to anyone else??? Thank you! wasalaam :)
  9. Salam, How many people here are reading the Quran and planning to finish it this month? If you are, how you do you plan on doing that because started a bit late like 3 days ago because I just wasn't able to start before for specific reasons. I am reading around 20mins or more after each prayer so a total of 1h 40min a day because I'm praying my prayers separate in Ramadan. I read it quite slow because I have to read the transliteration while listening to it and the person reading the Quran is quite slow if you get me. Am I over doing it or do I need to do even more? I done the first 4 Surat's and I am on the 5th now.
  10. In His Name, the Most High Salam My blog has gone through a slight transformation and is now titled "The Spiritual Path of Ehsan" with the new "Journal" category as its main section of updates. As lovers of Ahl al-Bait(A) and seekers of the divine presence we come across many ideas, thoughts and inspiring literature in our journey. The idea with the journal is to collect all of these thought provoking gems in (mostly) short and simple to read posts as a point of reference for myself as well as others who might find it interesting. It could be a quote I stumble upon and wish to write down, or a thought which I'm reflecting upon, or something I've listened to etc etc. Basically a spiritual journal. The first post has already been made and I will inshaAllah put up new posts in this thread as they are published. The need of a spiritual master http://www.ehsan.me/...iritual-master/ Please feel free to comment and discuss the posts as well as share your thoughts and give feedback. Salam Ehsan
