  1. Pino Menos, Turkish, living in Turkey 200 Views Nope. I am a Turk and I am an atheist. I know many atheist people living in Turkey but they are not so free to express it publicly. Turkey is a secular country, but there is always a pressure you feel if you are an atheist. For example, you cannot have it written in your identity card, which is itself a comedy. Apart from this, other religious groups are well tolerated. Written Dec 12 • View Upvotes Ayse Elvan Gunduz, Was raised as one, in a Muslim country. 687 Views No, I'm not for instance. Historically speaking, the dominant religion was Shamanism until 8th century (not sure about the date). Some Turks (especially is Middle Asia) continued to practice it. There are still some Turks who do. There are also Orthodox Turks in the North, although I don't quite remember which country they are mostly in. The statistics are inflated too. I doubt percentage of Muslims in Turkey are over 80%. Still a large percentage though. Written Jan 8 Link/source: https://www.quora.com/Are-all-Turks-Muslims
