  2. Hello all, I am a female going to Karbala and Najaf for the first time from the USA. I was wondering if someone would be able to answer some of my questions. It will greatly be appreciated. Thanks: 1) I know that makeup is not allowed. But what about eyelash extensions? These are fake individual lashes that are placed on your real lashes. They look natural. I just don't want anyone giving me a hard time for having them. 2) I am going to be on my menstrual cycle. Is there any advice regarding this? 3) Any other advice will greatly be appreciated. Thank-you.
  3. I didn't believed until I saw with my own eyes people disrespecting and disregarding the soil of Karbala. At shrines of Imam Reza (a.s.) and Imam Ali (a.s.) in particular you will more often find yourself dodging the turbah/Khake Shifa/mohr. I was really appalled to see a man at one of those shrine tossing a piece of turbah to the ground and that lazy fella adjusted it's position using his feet. Such a contemptuous behaviour! https://www.al-islam.org/greater-sins-volume-3-ayatullah-sayyid-abdul-husayn-dastghaib-shirazi/fiftieth-greater-sin
  4. Salaam all, If you've seen the touching videos of people around the world trying out VR-Karbala, you must have been very moved by it. This is just an example of a demo day in Copenhagen. VR-Karbala's demo has been presented in many other cities including Mashhad and Karbala (in Baynul Haramayn). The team has gone really far to this stage. Now, they need your support to take it further and be able to deliver it this Muharram to all. This is a where the community can come together and support the production of one the most innovative and valuable projects of our time. Your support is highly appreciated. 5. Hi.. it has been narrated from imam sadiq a.s that the soil of karbala( khake shifa) can heal all the disease... My question is can it heal Hiv also???
  6. So i came across this rather peculiar hadith when i was reading the famous shi'i hadith book by ibn Qulawayh you all know about, called Kamil al-Ziyarat, the hadith goes like the following: "Imam Sadiq (a.s.) said: One day Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w.s.) was in Fatima’s house with Husain (a.s.) on his lap. Suddenly, the Prophet began to cry and went into prostration. Then he said: O Fatima, O daughter of Muhammad! Just now Allah the Most High and Exalted just appeared to me here in the most beautiful form and asked me, “O Muhammad! Do you love Husain (a.s.)?” I replied, “Yes, he is the light of my eyes, fruit of my heart, fragrant flower and the skin between my eyes.” Allah said: O Muhammad! – and placing His Hand on Husain’s head2 – Blessed is this newborn upon whom I have sent prosperity, blessings, mercy and pleasure. My curse, wrath, chastisement, disgrace and punishment are upon one who kills him, is inimical to him or rises up against him. Indeed, he is the Chief of Martyrs from the first to the last, in this life and Hereafter." hmm... i am really confused now, is this hadith reliable, is it not? Does this hadith have a particular meaning? Is it metaphorical? Lets assume this hadith is fabricated and has no origin, then we would have to admit that Kamil Al-Ziyarat is not completely reliable... But what if it is reliable, but the likes of Allah "putting His (AWJ) hand" on Hussain or Allah (AWJ) coming to the Holy Prophet (SAWS) in a beautiful form is nothing more than a metaphor. What is your take on this? Jazakum Allah khair jaza'

  9. Assalam o Alaikum Hope you are all well? InshALLAH by the grace of Allah I will soon be going on ziyarat in Iraq. I feel so lucky and blessed to have this opportunity to go and visit imam Hussain (as). Although wish I could have gone for Arbaeen but will inshALLAH be going in December during the xmas holidays. I am a revert shia (from sunni) and inshALLAH I will be going with my husband (who is a born shia), who has also never been before. My family is still all sunni, so I cant ask them as they'd have no idea. So i just thought you lovely members could help me out a little bit. So, i don't really know how to dress, i am a female, and I know I will have to be in full hijab. I already do hijab and will take some abayas with me, but the question I would like to ask is, as i will be going after Arbaeen would i be expected to wear black? I dont mind wearing black as most of my abayas are in black (and would be convenient). However then I wonder as its not Muharram and it will be after Arbaeen and even after Eid e Zahra...would it be bad to wear black. What colours should i wear/be expected to wear? what colours are a no no? Any advice on what I or my husband should wear and any other advice on what we should take with us? Many thanks for all your help Iltemase dua
  10. The tenth The universe mourns The chaos that stirred, Was it the Quran that fell? Walk me to Karbala! Let my vision hold the enigma, As it unfolds. And for what I saw there Choked on my tears, as I struck my head Noor of Zahra’s eyes, Sibt-e Rasool In a bed of arrows, held still. Wa Muhammada! Wa Aliya! Pages of Qur’an-e Natiq Scattered it lay Some torn, some burnt Some trampled, it lay. And Zahra, with a despaired heart Collected each page Held it close to her heart, The heaven was in rage! © Sahar H. 9th Muharram 1437
  11. The last steps, When the world ended for him His vision fogged with tears One step forward, Then, seven steps back. With the child Still nested in his arms, His eyes met with Rabab’s. How could he return the infant? With a throat slit, from ear to ear! Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un Only Hussain’s heart knows How with each of those steps, Rabab’s eye searched for her child And Hussain had no answer. © Sahar H. 8th Muharram 1437

  14. The Path of Imam Hussein is The Path of The Messengers of Allah There were similarities between al-Imam al-Hussein’s revolution and the legacies of the Messengers of Allah. Allah had sent His Messengers to guide people to the right path and save them from the misconduct of the oppressors who humiliated the offsprings of Adam. These oppressors broke Allah’s covenant, rejected His signs, slayed His prophets, spread mischief and shed blood. The Messengers of Allah spared no effort to challenge those oppressors. The same position had been taken by al-Imam al-Hussein when he witnessed that the truth was concealed and falsehood was not prohibited. He observed Yazid the Umayyad ruler rebelling against Allah’s (Shari’a) and went on transgressing the Message of Islam and placing the book of Allah (al-Quran) behind his back and commanding what is evil and shameful. Karbala embodied the struggles of the Messengers of Allah and posed the greatest challenge to the Umayyad dynasty. Yazid exercised his authority in cruel, unjust and oppressed manners to compel al-Imam al-Hussein to choose one of two things: either to put him to the swords of his army or to accept humiliation. The aim of this plan was to distort al-Imam al-Hussein’s stature among Muslims in order to undermine his revolution. It is worth mentioning that it is impossible for al-Imam al-Hussein to accept humiliation for being the Vicegerent of Allah (khalifatul’Allah) on His earth, the proof of Allah (hujjatul’Allah) to his creatures who upholds the command of Allah, the most noble obedient to Allah, and the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) who is superior to all the angels who are near to Allah, the best of mankind and the leader (sayyid) of the sons of Adam. On the contrary, he denounced the tyrant rulers and held them responsible for permitting what had been forbidden by Allah, turning away from the traditions ( Sunna ) of the Messenger of Allah, and acting amongst Muslims sinfully and aggressively. He welcomed death and sacrificed his life for establishing justice. Death to him was nothing but happiness and living with tyrants was nothing but abject. According to this statement al-Imam al-Hussein’s happiness was correlated to the voice of justice to free the Muslim nation which was captured and imprisoned. Certainly, he was fully aware about the consequences of the battle. He made many statements in this regard. It was a divine mystery which was revealed at the battle of Karbala. It revived Islam, liberated Muslims from the hands of the oppressors and “provided them with determination and strength to defend their principles and live with honor and dignity” The swords which faced al-Imam al-Hussein at the battle of Karbala did not shake his stance. His purpose was stronger than them and greater. They made deep cuts in his sacred body but they did not subdue the inflammation of his revolution. From his wounds Islam overflowed again and his martyrdom changed the course of the Islamic history and sowed the seeds of freedom to enlighten the future Muslim generations to reject humiliation, save humanity, fight for justice, and spread love and peace. Every word al-Imam al-Hussein uttered on the sand of Karbala revealed the principles of his revolution and narrated to us that every unjust ruler and oppressor will come to an end. Those who fought against al-Imam al-Hussein and his principles vanished, but al-Imam al-Hussein remained alive in the consciousness of the Muslim nation. His legacy as well as in the consciousness of free men and women throughout history and became the symbol of freedom and the conqueror who wanted to establish the Divine justice (al-tawhid) on earth. That was the goal of the Messengers of Allah and al-Imam al-Hussein. Note: We are the International Media Unit in the holy shrine of Imam Hussain.
