Assalamu alaykum everyone and Eid Mubarak!! This is mainly directed to the hijabi sisters but anyone is free to offer advice. Brief context: I started wearing the hijab at 17 (Now going onto 19) alhamdulilah and I didn’t know before hand that it was fully obligatory, coming from a non practicing and more so spiritual family. Also, that apparently one should start wearing hijab (khimar) at the age of 9/10 (correct me if I’m wrong). Since I’ve worn the hijab I’ve been receiving a fair share of Islamophobia (living in the West kind of makes you a target). Specifically even today on my way home which inspired me to write this post. However alhamdulilah my convinction for the hijab grows stronger after each event and I’ve gotten over that phases of uncertainty about hijab a while back thanks to clear evidence and logic. Do any of the sisters observing the hijab have any advice on dealing with such situations? Also, if anyone wants to share their stories your more than welcome to. Jazak’Allah.

I heard things from people that women don't like me, that ill never get married, and Some even said Shia girls said things about me to( although I will have to investigate these allegations as required by Islam!), any way they said some Shia women saw my brothers and said they were hot and looked better then me!! I had bad experience with non Muslim women before I reverted and when I was Sunni, even though I didn't persue them!! They keep making a mockery out f me for no reason!! I was told by my gradfather that I was cute like a girl, but these kafir women and fasiq women keep being mean and cruel to me for no- reason!! What have I done, will Shia women hate me too?

As`salamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh everyone, I just came across a thread on a forum where someone was saying that a revert moderator from Shiachat left Islam and converted back to Christianity. Too bad most of us didn`t get a chance to talk with her in order to help her out. It made me think why do a good number of ex-shi`as quit Islam altogether instead of looking at the other major sect (i.e Ahle Sunnah wal jamaah) ? And without a shadow of a doubt immense hatred of Sahaba is one of the main reasons behind it. So In`sha Allah I would like to know the opinions of people on this forum about this issue.

Asalamu Ailakum, There has something that has been bothering me for quite some time about Muslims in general. Which is about all the stories where when some Western cartoonist decided that they want to draw a caricature to make fun of the prophet Muhammad (pbh) and then Muslims all around the world go insane over it. To the point where they want to kill this person and some times hold signs where they want his or her blood. Its just like with Charlie Hebdo who got shot and killed along with six other cartoonists for the cartoons they made of the prophet Muhammad (pbh). Why do Muslims have to go to such violent extents to try and defend their prophet when some one makes fun of them. Its like the infamous book The Satanic verses which discussed three verses that are said to be spoken out of the prophet's toungue but not form Allah which makes them false and the whole Muslim world was in upheavel because of it. So many violent demonstrations happened because of it, the West and middle eastern relationships were getting worse, Ayotallah Khomeni himself issued a fatwa to assassinate the man who wrote the book and other associated with it who were actually killed. Now I'm sure that most of you don't agree with what these Muslims did but I ask as to why does it happen in the first place. Christians barely do anything about it (maybe since they have no choice since they have already lost their momentum in the west and just have to accept it if they want more followers) but we have to go to the point as to kill these people for making fun of our religion when they in fact do the same thing about every other one. perhaps we should react peacufully through demonstrations or just confront that what they are saying is wrong since these people are trying to address some issues about islam through animation instead of words so that it can catch our eye and we can discuss how to deal with it.

Salam everyone, I made a blog with the intention to "answer" the common criticisms of Islam by Islamophobes using evidence, rationality, and references. It has answers to the following questions so far: Does Islam promote violence towards peaceful non-Muslims?Are there verses in the Quran that allow violence towards peaceful non-Muslims?Was Islam spread by the sword? What's the Jizya?Does Islam say all non-Muslims will go to hell? What's the penalty for apostasy in Islam? Is Islam misogynistic?Does Islam promote domestic violence?Does Islam allow pedophilia? I provided evidence for my answers using evidence from Quran and hadiths. If you have any further evidences (hadiths/Quran/statistics/science) that may be helpful in answering such questions, or other common questions that should be addressed, please tell me! Any feedback would be much appreciated! I hope this blog is helpful to anyone defending Islam against common criticisms and accusations. Please feel free to use any content in it.

Salam, First of all i want to say thanks to the admins, mods/chatmods for doing a great job. We aren't perfect but we try our best. Secondly i want to thank the dev team for updating the FAQ and working on keeping things up2date. Thirdly, i specifically made the title of this thread to provoke people to read. Even though we have rules and regulations here, once in a while when we notice certain trends it's good with a reminder. In the past couple of months we have noticed an increase in racist comments, hate comments and also increase in violence promoting comments. So let me be perfectly clear: 1. Any hint, promotion, suggestion to any form of violence is strictly prohibited, member will be suspended on first offence and banned on second. And we won't negotiate these terms. 2. We do not care what you have been learning from you parents. Any racial nonsense against the Jews will be awarded with a suspension first then a ban. We have valuable jewish members in this site, and we also have converts with jewish background. Same goes for Christians. 3. Calling sunnis that do not agree with you for illicit son of Yazid and comments of equal quality has only led to that sunni responding in kind. And i don't blame him. Both of you will be suspended and then banned. 4. Finally, racial slurs, in any shape or form will be rewarded like above. Please obey the rules and increase the quality of posts.

Salam Aleikum to you all! In this post i want to know why "a part" of the shiites hate the sahaba's of the prophet (saws). I know that the shiites think that a big part of the sahabs were disbelief or deviants, which offcause is not the truth.. Why does you talk bad about the wife of the prophet, Aisha (ra) ?? Do you really think, that the prophet (saws) would be happy about your behavour? Do you think Allah (SWT) is pleased with your cursing over the sahaba's? Do you think your a better muslim than the people closes to the prophet (saws)? How would you stand in front of Allah (SWT) at the judgments day and say that your not acknowledges the people that he has protected and blessed? Wa Salam

Is hate for non-Sunnis being taught in today's masjids? I don't see this "hate" going on in the masjid I attend. I'm in the south (Alabama) and the masjid I attend is Sunni but there are Muslims from all backgrounds there. This weekend the masjid had a "Day of Dignity" in the park & there were Sunnis and Shias serving the homeless together: spreading dawah, brought food and the medical doctors of the masjid came out and offered medical screening to the homeless. From my eyes this is the work that muslims should be doing. Meanwhile I was in GA listening to Shaykh Tahir ul-Qadri and Shaykh Ninowy. Shaykh Ninowy is Iraqi-Syrian and lives in Georgia. He is Sunni & in the past gave this lecture on the Ahlul Bayt: http://youtu.be/QacDiZHyrzs?t=35m14s It's long but if you start @ 35:14 you will hear him talking about how the Sunni vs. Shia rivalry is intellectual terrorism and that the differences between the two is no excuse for hate, and how other Sunni scholars tried to discourage him from talking about the Ahlul Bayt. When I first started learning about Islam I did not understand the animosity between Sufis and Shias and Sunnis. In my mind it's all Islam and we are all Muslims. I'm seeing that a lot of "information" on Islamic forums is leaning more toward extremist indoctrination/Jihad recruitment. And those who hold these extremist views tend to be cut from the same cloth: mostly males, reverts or next generation immigrants, walking, young (under 30), poor/low income (don't work, underemployed and angry), lives with parents, uneducated/undereducated, unmarried They ( who ever is the system orchestrator of extremist indoctrination) apparently knows who to target. Young males who don't have anything. No independence, no job, no money, no education, no car, no woman. They present them with the greatest gift given to man: Islam. Society has rejected them from higher education and these people present them with knowledge that is greater. I can see now how brain washing these young people can be easy and profitable for their cause.
