  1. As'salaamu Alaikum, I am a "Sunni" Muslim and am interested in authentic narrations on the Mahdi narrated by the Shia Imams such as Muhammad al-Baqir, Jaafar as-Sadiq etc. Are there any reliable sources I could find ? And if so, where ? I appreciate any help.
  2. I have researched and this question has not been addressed as I am asking here. Recently I heard an audio lecture of a person in Urdu here where he says Syeds are entitled to more respect because they are from lineage of Prophet Mohammad (sw) with one thing in mind 'A non-syed can attain more spiritual highness through Taqwa'. He gives references of Ahadis from Shia books, I will mention just few Lawamay Ilahiyah by Shaikh Miqdad Uyun ul Hikam wal mawaiz Fawaid ul Ulama and Faraid ul Hukama Manaqib by Allama Ibn e Shahr e Ashub Mir Baqir Damad He says those Syeds who don't have good character, they should be respected just like we respect those verses of Quran who are no more valid now (I don't know which Ayah of Quran are so). Interestingly whenever he quotes a Hadis from books, he uses the word 'Zuriyat' first and them implies it on Syeds (descendants of Prophet). I don't have extensive studies of Islam, but my question is that if it is true as this person says, then what about story of Prophet Noah (as) where God told him that his son is not from him and is not worthy of to be protected. Also narration of Prophet (sw) where he said 'Salman is from Ahlulbayt'. Is respect linked to lineage? Positive discussion is awaited.
  3. Background : Nature with its creature (human, animal, vegetation etc), thought/conceptual (philosophy, religion, culture, ethnic etc) is vast/huge, abundant variation. With tawhid, human (only human in nature) should understand that human can not exist by itself, there must be "something" that initiate, control of everything in nature which Arab says Allah (from the word al and ilah, al = the, ilah = idolatry). Question : 1. There is opinion to keep, to strengthen the huge, abundant variation of things (materially and conceptually) in nature without mentioning Allah (submission to Allah inconsciouly). 2. There is opinion to unite things (thought/conceptual) of nature into submission to Allah consciously Could you imagine/figure out and make lists of what is the steps/schedules in accomplishing these 2 opinion ? Which one of the two do you agree (1 or 2) ? Can we reconciliate these 2 opinion ? and how ?
  4. Please guide me as i am new to al Kafi. I would like to ask about the meaning only of all hadis from Al-Kafi of Al-Kulayni beginning with 1st based on English translation by Muhammad Sarwar : H 1, Ch. 1, h 1 Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ya’qub has narrated from a number of our people of whom one is Muhammad ibn Yahya al-‘Attar who narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Hassan ibn Mahbub from 'Ala' ibn Razin from Muhammad ibn Muslim from abu Ja’far (a.s) who has said the following. " When Allah, God, created Intelligence He made it speak and then He said to it, ‘Come forward’. It came forward. He then said, "Go back." It went back. Then Allah said, "I swear by My honor and glory that I have not created any creature more beloved to Me than you. I will not perfect you in anyone except those whom I love. I, however, will command only you to do things and prohibit only you from doing certain things. I will grand blessings (rewards) to you only and will subject only you to punishments." Intelligence here i think come from the original Arabic word, 'aql. (correct me if i am wrong) 1. Does intelligence here means a concrete things, i.e. has a body ? If not, what is the meaning of 'it came forward/went back' when Allah said to it, 'Come forward/Go back' ? 2. What is the meaning 'I will not perfect you in anyone except those whom I love' ? 3. Does Allah create Intelligence separately from human being ? If yes, how do they (intelligence and human being) come together ? If no, does it goes to no 1 above ? 4. What is the signs/indications of Allah's most loving to intelligence ? Thank you.
  5. Please accept my apologies; my intention with this post is not to offend or inflame anyone but to have a sobering discussion. Although I have heard my fair share of absurd ahadis, both shia and sunni, over the years; this one moved me to the point that I had to write about it. The hadis in question is stated as follows: Making love bare (without a covering) It is narrated that Muĥammad bin al-Ais asked Imām as-Ŝādiq (as): “Is it permissible to go near my wife naked (i.e. make love naked)?” Imām replied: “No, don’t do such a thing…” This hadis appears on the well-known shia website: http://www.al-islam.org. On this web site, there is a book titled "From Marriage to Parenthood The Heavenly Path". This hadis is stated in the second chapter titled "Sexual Etiquette". Here is the link the relevant section: http://www.al-islam.org/from-marriage-to-parenthood-heavenly-path-abbas-and-shaheen-merali/chapter-2-sexual-etiquette#makr%C5%ABh-discouraged-acts The question here is not about the authenticity of the hadis; I think that any rational person can see the irrationality of making love without getting naked. The disturbing thing here is that this hiadis appears on http://www.al-islam.org, which is supposed to be a mainstream shia website, providing authentic knowledge. Is there no refuge from these absurd ahadis? When truth is mixed with untruth and authentic is mixed with unauthentic in hadis books, then is there anything to be gained by studying or learning about hadis?
