How come the hoor al ayn, or houris, get to be born and live in eternal pleasure in Paradise? How come we have to go through life and all, and then we finally get Paradise as a reward for our actions, but the houris are all just sitting there from the beginning, waiting to have infinite sexual pleasure with their upcoming husbands? Salam, Imam Ali says in the first sermon of Nahj al-Balagha that God doesn't have any attributes. Imam Reza reiterates this in Sheikh Saduq's al-Tawhid. Shia Islamic scholars have interpreted this as meaning that all the traditional attributes of God (e.g. omniscience, omnipotence, etc.) are identical with God and are not distinct or "accidental properties" of God. But this creates the problem of mercy and freedom. If mercy is an essential property of God, and not an "accidental property," then that means God must be merciful (or else He wouldn't be God anymore). This seems to contradict with the Shia Islamic traditions which say that God "chose" mercy for Himself (i.e. He could have not been merciful, but He chose to be merciful). This also makes the whole concept of thanking God meaningless, because he had to be merciful to us all the time because reality couldn't have been otherwise (he's a Necessary Being, couldn't have not existed, and couldn't have not been merciful). Why thank God for being merciful to us when things simply could not have been otherwise? It was not possible for God to have not been merciful to us, so why should we thank him for being merciful to us? Unless there is a rational way to solve this problem, this problem demonstrates that the whole concept of a merciful, free, and "worthy of being grateful to" God is incoherent. And hence the Islamic concept of God is logically incoherent and should not be believed in.

Scenarios to liberate Mosul city, military sources Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: Iraqi military sources reported that the forces moved this morning towards Nineveh province to participate in clearing the province from Da'ish (ISIS) gunmen, particularly in Shirqat and adjacent areas. The new military movements are part of the plan made and supervised by the international coalition to liberate Mosul city. The sources disclosed that 70 tanks were moved to Nineveh provincial areas from Salahal-din province. Military expert Staff General Mohammed al-Jbouri pointed out that the Iraqi forces were moved for two directions, the first is the international highway that connects Tikrit with Mosul cities and the second to the west through the desert to reach Hatra areas. Iraqi military expert Staff General Mohammed al-Jbouri, ex-army officer, pointed out that the Iraqi forces heading for Mosul city is moving into two main directions, the first towards the international highway that connects Tikrit with Mosul city and the second towards the west desert till reaching Hatra area to cover the rear of other armed forces from Da'ish attacks, then to move to the east towards Qayara cross-section, 50 kilometers to the south of Mosul city. General Jbouri added that the Iraqi forces will encounter a problem for reaching its targets in Qayara area, because the area is desert-like with no population concentrations or towns, except the areas to the north of Beiji city. "The international coalition took Qayara air base as the center for Mosul Liberation Operations", he clarified. Qayara air base is one of the best air bases in Iraq which was used by French Mirage planes. It overlooks the main four routes that lead to Nineveh province, as well as connecting with the bridge that leads to Arbil city. General Jbouri clarified that the Iraqi forces in Tikrit areas will control the western side of the Tigris River, while the forces coming from Makhmour area, south east of Mosul, will control the eastern side of the river. "In other words, it is possible to build a bridge between the two sides to facilitate the movement of the forces between the two banks", he elaborated. "Da'ish gunmen will not be able to threaten the Iraqi forces, except in minor cases like the bombed vehicles or long-range bombardment from the artillery gained when occupying Mosul's city two years ago", General Jbouri added. As concerning Shirqat area, 110 kilometer north of Tikrit city, General Jbouri pointed out that the area will collapse because Da'ish supply lines will be completely cut off, as well as for Haweeja area in Kirkuk province. About a year ago I downloaded Microsoft Office for free (for those of you who don't know, it costs a hell of a lot of money). Now I am a little concerned though, having not paid for something is just like stealing it, and considering how all of my university work is done using Microsoft Office, is it fair to to say ALL the work I have done in the past (and will do in the future) using the downloaded Microsoft Office would be haraam? I understand I may just be being a little over the top but I thought I should ask this question anyway, just to be sure. Thanks for any replies :)
