  1. There is a group site on facebook, where they have mutah discussions and even a match making part if any one is interested
  2. In Iran, currently the Suprem Leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Hussain Al-Khamenei ( May Allah Lengthen His Life )banned the practices of online chatting and other protocols following the same aspect. Many ignorant lads are going against this jurisdiction. But if they could use their brain for once in a while instead of their naked eyes, they could've easily understood the eligibility of this system. In Facebook, there are many private groups which are made in terms of inappropriate and illegal means. They are not only illegal according to Islam but also violating the general human resources. Like, when I had a Facebook account, I saw a group named “ Teen Friendship 13-19 ", as I was 16 at that time, I joined in that group. But hilariously, this group was a stock of images of the members there with captions like “ I'm 16, inbox me " and the other one gave me that much shock that I couldn't get rid of it for a number of months. It was “ I'm 13, rate 1-10 ". Most of the group members were Indians, Philippines etc. No doubt, there were Muslims too. This corruption is developing a nuisance which is harmful to all children. So Facebook is illegal as it looks likes a city where you can find both bars and mosques. This disturbing mixture makes the entire city ethically and rationally impure. Indeed, Twitter has its own criteria, abode of fake news generated by Western officials and non-veiled pictures of female celebrities. So there doesn't need any further discussion about why Twitter is Haram. For the same reasons, when Iran should also ban others like Instagram, Pinterest, VK, okdoklassniki, Reddit, Tumblr, one Iranian official started to light her cigarette with a text covering the smoke “ Not only Facebook, but also other services should also be provided without any restriction. " I mean what kind of official of an Islamic Republic country talks like this. These [Edited Out]ed up officials including Rouhani should add further restrictions on the social media sites which give youth the opportunities to commit zina, bettings and other ethically illegal activities like these. 1st Imam- Imam Ali bin Abu Talib once said, “ Don't be seen in places that are suspect, otherwise you yourself will look suspect. "

  4. I am human, I make mistakes, therefore please correct my reasoning with references if possible, as I have separated from my partner over the matter of "displaying one's beauty", and perhaps I am wrong in my thought process. In the situation of a woman who does not observe hijab, but covers her body well; My reasoning: it is wrong to post your photos on social media where men are able to view your photo. Allah says in the quran do not display your beauty. You are a woman with beauty, you are posting a photo on social media, you are displaying yourself on social media, by posting on social media, it is an act of displaying yourself. I don't know how else I can say it. It is not the same as going to work. The thought here is "I am going to work". It is not the same as walking down the street to get somewhere and people see you, because the thought is "I am going to x place". When you post a photo, the thought is "I will post a picture of myself on instagram " in other words "I will display myself on instagram". You are therefore unnecessarily displaying your beauty to men. Even if the woman observes proper hijab, it is an act of "I will display myself on the internet by posting this photo"; it isn't a charity photo, a conference video, you giving a lecture, it's simply to share a "fun" or "precious" or "happy" moment with the people on social media (which includes male cousins, friends, strangers, etc.). Am I wrong in my thinking? Can someone explain it in a more articulate way rather than my caveman explanation?
  5. Why is that Shia Muslim content is lacking on Social media platform such as Facebook and Youtube. Hardly there is any Youtube channel or Facebook page with Shia content where followers are above 10k. On social media shia admins mostly share conflicting issues or lectures of non-shia scholars who seconds some of our ideology. But unfortunately there are hardly any shia pages or channel which talks on common ground to attract people towards shia islam. On the other hand youtube channel and facebook pages with non-shia content and speakers are growing day by day. Every other non-shia facebook page and channel has followers near 0.1 million. Even if you don't want to listen to non-shia speakers or lectures, somehow they come infront of you. Often their content is so misleading but people do get convince what ever they are saying is true just because those speakers don't talk on conflicting issues. Majortity of these speakers are wahabi or deoband. Don't you think Shia social media team need to be more smart and active on youtube and facebook? We need to produce shia speakers who can spread basic Islam without talking on conflicting issues and educate people what shia islam is.
  6. People are been screened continuously on Facebook. Many of my friends who share anti-mainstream content is banned frequently. I myfelf got banned twice just because I was writing against Saudi.. The so called sleeping muslims are now awaken and sharing fake news, articles and pictures from CNN, BBC, Euronews etc and crying like [edit]. Moreover I couldn't share a thing but just sit and read them. I'm loosing my self control and don't know what to do to stop this [edit] fake news. What is your story?
  7. https://gizmodo.com/former-facebook-exec-you-don-t-realize-it-but-you-are-1821181133 Last month, Facebook’s first president Sean Parker opened up about his regrets over helping create social media as we know it today. “I don’t know if I really understood the consequences of what I was saying, because of the unintended consequences of a network when it grows to a billion or 2 billion people and it literally changes your relationship with society, with each other,” Parker said. “God only knows what it’s doing to our children’s brains.” He went on to explain what “this” is: So we are in a really bad state of affairs right now, in my opinion. It is eroding the core foundation of how people behave by and between each other. And I don’t have a good solution. My solution is I just don’t use these tools anymore. I haven’t for years. Speaking more broadly on the subject of social media, Palihapitiya said he doesn’t use social media because he “innately didn’t want to get programmed.” As for his kids: “They’re not allowed to use this [Edited Out].”
  8. I can relate to it in the context of a couple of discussion boards (which I've outgrown) but I can't relate to it when it comes to popular social media platforms like those mentioned in tags. I don't have twitter or instagram or viber or whatever. I have a very old FB account which remains idle most of the year except lately when I've needed to use frequently to administer a travel group and do only and only that. But it seems social media is fast becoming a health hazard and a social crisis. I'm sure there are people among the readers who suffer from the addiction. How do you tackle it and what do you think about "social media addiction?"
  9. Salaam Alaykum. Well, a friend and I have created a page called Mourning For Husayn and we would ABSOLUTELY appreciate it if everyone who has a Facebook can like and follow it. 10. MULTAN, Pakistan (AP) — A minority Shiite Muslim was sentenced to death in Pakistan for sharing blasphemous content about Islam on social media, a government prosecutor said. Judge Shabbir Ahmed announced the sentence for 30-year-old Taimoor Raza on Saturday in Bahawalpur in eastern Punjab province, according to Shafiq Qureshi. Raza was arrested last year for allegedly posting derogatory content about Sunni Muslim religious leaders and the wives of the Prophet Mohammed on Facebook. Qureshi said Bahawalpur's counter-terrorism force arrested Raza in April last year following a complaint that he was showing onlookers objectionable material on his cell phone at a bus terminal. He added that Raza had previously posted other blasphemous material on Facebook. Pakistan is a predominantly Sunni Muslim country and the rivalry between Shiite and Sunni Muslims dates back to the seventh century when they had a disagreement who should be the heir to Islam's Prophet Mohammed. Under Pakistan's harsh blasphemy laws, anyone accused of insulting God, Islam or other religious personalities can be sentenced to death. Pakistan last year arrested 15 people, 10 Muslims and five non-Muslims, on blasphemy charges, according to a report issued by the independent rights group Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. Raza’s defence attorney said his client had been charged with two unrelated sections of the law to ensure the maximum penalty. “Initially, it was a case of insulting remarks on sectarian grounds and the offence was 298A, which punishes for derogatory remarks about other religious personalities for up to two years,” said Fida Hussain Rana, the defence counsel. Raza was later charged unde section 295C of the penal code, related to “derogatory acts against prophet Muhammad”, Rana said. Social media represents a new battleground for the Pakistani fight against blasphemy. Authorities have asked Twitter and Facebook to help identify users sharing blasphemous material, and have distributed text messages encouraging Pakistanis to report fellow citizens. Human rights defenders have expressed concern that the country’s blasphemy laws, and the authorities’ zealous application of them, provide a tool for people to carry out personal vendettas, particularly because nobody is ever punished for making false accusations. Interesting fact :Raza was arrested last year after a debate about Islam on Facebook with a man who turned out to be a counter-terrorism agent. He was one among 15 people arrested by the counter-terrorism department last year, accused of blasphemy, according to the HRC, Pakistan. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jun/11/pakistan-man-sentenced-to-death-for-blasphemy-on-facebook How easy it is for anyone to frame people by doing this. Start a facebook discussion and shias will say what they say about the three caliphs and Ayesha and you can sentence them to death for blasphemy.

  15. (bismillah) (salam) This article describes one of the many ways how data generated from our Facebook accounts (or any other social media website) can be used to try to 'understand' us. Specifically, the article mentions how data scientists at Facebook found patterns in the frequency of status updates between a couple, such that these patterns reflected whether the couple were courting, or if they had started a relationship. Hopefully, the very brief article would be fond useful by those of us who would like to know what these big companies do with our data. (wasalam)

  18. Something similar was reported last year as well. The program is covert i.e. students are to hide the fact that they're being paid to write positively about the Israeli regime. Students offered grants if they tweet pro-Israeli propaganda In a campaign to improve its image abroad, the Israeli government plans to provide scholarships to hundreds of students at its seven universities in exchange for their making pro-Israel Facebook posts and tweets to foreign audiences. The students making the posts will not reveal online that they are funded by the Israeli government, according to correspondence about the plan revealed in the Haaretz newspaper. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, which will oversee the programme, confirmed its launch and wrote that its aim was to “strengthen Israeli public diplomacy and make it fit the changes in the means of information consumption”. The government’s hand is to be invisible to the foreign audiences. Daniel Seaman, the official who has been planning the effort, wrote in a letter on 5 August to a body authorising government projects that “the idea requires not making the role of the state stand out and therefore it is necessary to adhere to great involvement of the students themselves, without political linkage or affiliation”. According to the plan, students are to be organised into units at each university, with a chief co-ordinator who receives a full scholarship, three desk co-ordinators for language, graphics and research who receive lesser scholarships and students termed “activists” who will receive a “minimal scholarship”. Mr Netanyahu’s aides said the main topics the units would address related to political and security issues, combating calls to boycott Israel and combating efforts to question Israel’s legitimacy. The officials said the students would stress Israeli democratic values, freedom of religion and pluralism. But Alon Liel, the doveish former director-general of the Israeli foreign ministry, criticised the plan as “quite disgusting”. “University students should be educated to think freely. When you buy the mind of a student, he becomes a puppet of the Israeli government grant,” he said. “You can give a grant to do social work or teach but not to do propaganda on controversial issues for the government.” http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/students-offered-grants-if-they-tweet-proisraeli-propaganda-8760142.html
  19. Assalamu Alaikum Warahmathullah Dear Islamic Scholars, Brothers and Sisters. Today FaceBook has became a society requirement for majority of Muslims around the world. Even though many scholars gives fatwa to stop using FB, people are getting addicting to it faster than getting rid of it. Let me pointed out some facts that I see on FB - FB is user friendly, can connect with similar interest, browse interesting subjects, share similar thoughts and learn anything interesting. - FB has "targeting ads" based on Age, Sex, Religion and Location, where If you are a Muslim girl of 17, you will get boys images of 18+ of all kinds and vice-versa - Most Muslims working on Islamic Dahwa withing FB communities, and its looks like they keep failing due to the fact 99% of dirty environment. My Question is, Why cant we Muslims have a SAFE ISLAMIC SITE similar to FB providing all features it has ? Is that Muslims are illiterate to do so ? or is it Muslims has no money to invest on it ? Having said, with my limited knowledge of Islam, I just started a sample site for MUSLIMS ONLY. Its at Jeeem.com neither Im saying my site is perfect nor promoting it. But my point is, why we cant do something similar in large scale ? What I really wanted to see is to take off ALL Muslims away from FB providing them a site with similar features. If you have any positive ideas, please elaborate. Jazakallah hair
