Salaam all. So, I made a thread a while ago, talking about the state of the existence of universes where we make different choices. Like a movie scene that a director decides not to use in the final cut. Does that "scene" exist? Somewhere? So, imagine a world where you go jogging 5 miles a day. What is the state of the existence of THAT you? Does that you "exist" at all? Then, I just saw Coherence. And there is some interesting science in it that I really need to look up. It's a movie about a comet that comes and warps time and space for guests at a dinner party. You should skip this paragraph because of spoilers... So, the comet knocks out the power to the house. And they basically walk outside and realize that there are several different versions of themselves. In one house, they break open blue glow sticks. In another house, they broke open red ones. When they would leave their house because a house down the street has lights on, they eventually come and knock on their own door. Crossing paths with their identical selves. The main girl goes around and notices how one house is really vibrant and they enjoy their company. Another house is full of fighting. All the same people. So, what is the state of the existence of different universes? One where you stayed in bed an extra two minutes today? Another where you took an extra shower? They must "exist," right? Since time and space is created by God, the Most Merciful, is it really just a question of the difference in existence between the Creator and the created? https://www.al-islam.org/nahjul-balagha-part-1-sermons/sermon-1-praise-due-Allah-whose-worth-cannot-be-described " and whoever mistook Him pointed at Him; and whoever pointed at Him admitted limitations for Him; and whoever admitted limitations for Him numbered Him. Whoever said: ‘In what is He?’, held that He is contained; and whoever said: ‘On what is He?’, held He is not on something else. " He is a Being, but not through phenomenon of coming into being. He exists but not from non-existence. He is with everything but not in physical nearness. He is different from everything but not in physical separation. He acts but without connotation of movements and instruments. He sees even when there is none to be looked at from among His creation. He is only One, such that there is none with whom He may keep company or whom He may miss in his absence." Imam Ali as describing Allah swt. At some level, there are just two categories of existence: the Creator and the created. And so, all the unused scenes from a movie and the used ones both have the same status, really, so to speak. And you just chose/are choosing which scenes to put in the final cut. IS this legit thinking? And what would you do if you met several alternate versions of yourself? The trailer does not show how amazing this flick is:

Salam can you explain the following quote from allamah tabatabai: "The universe is temporal (in constant change and movement) and each particular part of it can become nonexistent. Therefore, it (the particulars) are not the existence that cannot be made nonexistent. This world depends on a reality which cannot be made nonexistent and it is in the light of that reality that the world becomes existent. If that reality did not existent, this world and whatever in it would not have existed. Of course, it does not mean that the reality unites with the thing in a way such that they become one thing. It does not permeate or indwell in them either or that a part of the reality separates and joins things; in fact, it is like light with which dark objects become bright and without which they remain dark." How does cosntant change and movmenet mean that things become non-existence, if I throw a ball, how does the change of ball make stuff go from existence to non-existence. "Therefore, it (the particulars) are not the existence that cannot be made nonexistent." If they can't become non-existant then why did you say particular parts of it become non-existent "This world depends on a reality which cannot be made nonexistent and it is in the light of that reality that the world becomes existent. If that reality did not existent, this world and whatever in it would not have existed." How did he reach that conclusion

Salam everyone, i had a question revolving in my mind for much time and so today i decided to share my question so that i may find satisfying answers from the knowledgeable users of the forum From the time we are young the elders tell us that nothing perfect can come in to existence by itself and so that is the proof for the existence of god but the question that arises is that how can God come to being all by himself?

https://www.quora.com/profile/Abbas-Naderi/all_posts "If we look around us, everything is possible-to-exist (and can exist as well as can not-exist). If everything was so, there wouldn't be anything existing at start, and nothing would follow. So there should be some must-exist to have created all of this." Can someone explain in depth (using easy language and examples) what this post is trying to say

Let's help a few brothers and sisters strengthen their iman. It is quite hard to hold onto religion in our time, especially in the west as all finds explanation through science. All while divine books are explained as part of the evolution of our intelligence/knowledge (God of the gaps). Even the moral lessons and actions are no longer viewed as divine but barbaric or simply ancient. Rather than arguing which religion speaks the truth, let's start with the origin of it- the Almighty. My proof is fitra, though for many this isn't proof enough. Even for myself at times my feelings sway, though thankfully my rope to God never snaps. Some claim it is caused by indoctrination/condition from a young age. However, if so, why do many members of non-religious families turn to religion? Then comes the idea of cultures and our way of thinking. Anyhow, what is yours?

I have just finished two "documentary" videos on separate topics. I want us to use this thread to talk about our thoughts and views on the road we are headed as "man". How our intellect, ability, and faith play a role in this...Viewer Discretion is advised... One is on man-made food source in which we can possibly live on. It is foretold that man will surpass its resources due to higher and higher population rates. One software engineer experiments and makes this powder to liquid base content in which keeps you full, so that you do not need to waste lots of money and the need for food is pretty much gone. He says that why should man depend on agriculture and such. It is a thing of the past and soon to be unavailable. It has not been tested by the FDA except that it has been called as a dietary supplement. So a man takes it as an experiment and uses it for 30 days. Is such a thing possible to help sustain mankind's existence in the future? I tend to believe Allah will always provide sources (i.e. natural foods) for mankind regardless how the future may be headed. But then again, verses in which Allah says "I will not change the situation of mankind, until they change themselves" comes to mind. In this video, they bring a man which has done a study to show how food shortages and high prices correlate with revolts and social disruption such as the arab spring. This makes me wonder too.... The next video was a man who takes a biochip and implants it into his arm. He takes about how he wants man to live and if we have to intellect we can make it possible. He believes biochip implants, turning man into half robot as the solution. One thing in the video that makes me wonder was how it mentions that the health organizations do not let these people do these implants because the society of the time does not consider it "normal". The man then uses the notion of breast enlargements as a joke towards the norm of society. I think to myself, what if society enabled testing of such sorts on humans, how far would we go? What might the norm be then? That is how far we might already be going if everything was truly open to us. Yes Allah has given us intellect, but of course there is no way man could become immortal. This is what a believer’s logic is put at. These videos some what put me off edge. It makes me uncomfortable. Its kind of like going against Allah, fighting his system. The video about the creation of a new source of food doesnt play a huge role in trying to go against Allah. But more of how might we survive and such. Also how the oppressed plays a role in mankind. Just my thoughts.... (wasalam)
