I'm looking for a marja: 1. Who knows English and delivers public lectures. 2. Explains rationale/sources behind his fatawa to public when asked. 3. Who must have a good presence on social media. He must be conducting Q/A on live video stream at least once a month. 4. Besides dialogues with Sunnis, he must have penchant for interfaith dialogue (with Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, Atheists, Agnostics, etc). And he must be ready to answer any questions raised by adherents of these faiths/ideologies. If anybody knows a marja with some of above qualities, please do inform me via this thread. PS. All these things mentioned above are need of this modern globalised world. A good scholar should have all of these qualities.

I'm doing some research on different Maraji and I'm having trouble finding Jannaati's rulings in English. On his site, there are only select rulings. Does anyone have a link or PDF?

Today I dreamt that I was in a house near the sea with my closest freind and a group of unknown people. I then went out to the balcony we’re I was looking at the sky when suddenly a huge transparent clock appeared. After a brief moment the clock started ticking somehow i knew that when the clock finishes it’s cycle it meant that whoever is Muslim stays Muslim and whoever is kafir stays kafir and I started to do istighfar and my friend was telling people to become Muslim before it’s late. before the clock reached it’s full cycle I started to tell my friend to do istighfar in which he preceded. The moment the clock finished it’s cycle the sky turned red and a huge battle happened in the sky I don’t know what or who it was but the battle intensified till it reached the ground were i was pleading to Allah to forgive me then I placed my head onto the ground as if I was praying and I woke up I hear its makrooh to speak about dreams but i just want a tafsir is this bad or good and should I do something about it

Chapter 5 aya 6- The changing of `wipe' وَامْسَحُوا to 'wash' your feet and ankles: O believers! When you rise up for prayer, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, wipe your heads, and wash your feet to the ankles (5:6) https://quran.com/5/6 Chapter 4 aya 24 - The changing of 'muta' اسْتَمْتَعْتُم to 'consummated marriage' with their due dowries: Also ˹forbidden are˺ married women—except ˹female˺ captives in your possession.1 This is Allah’s commandment to you. Lawful to you are all beyond these—as long as you seek them with your wealth in a legal marriage, not in fornication. Give those you have consummated marriage with their due dowries (4:24) https://quran.com/4/24 This is misleading to non-Arabic speakers and converts. Quran.com is the most popular website to pop up on Google when searching for verses in the Quran, but as you can see they mistranslate to suite their agenda. When am debating with non-Shia's it becomes very difficult as I am forced to use Shia websites, which then they accuse me of being biased and deceiving for using something that is Shia. Debating becomes a very lengthy process because I first have to explain what the real translation is, which then they have to double check and do their own research on etc etc. understandably the opponent is very dubious. Also, these are obvious words. There is no way that wipe in Arabic should translate to wash in English. I understand that there are (Sunni) traditions that say for example that the Prophet (عليه السلام) washed his feet, but how can a tradition/hadith have more significance that the Holy Quran? These are clear orders and words, nothing ambiguous about them. So if a tradition contradicts the Quran then it should be thrown out. Or at least it should be taken with a grain of salt. We shouldn't resort to hadiths when we have the Quran - with clear verses. Can someone please explain, what are the reasons behind this, and what is their justifications?

video Shi'a Islam and Contemporary Pakistani Education
Muntazir e Mahdi posted a topic in Urdu / اُردُو
I made a video recently on how the current content of education material plays a role in the oppression of Shi'a Muslims. I posted the video in General Islamic Discussion before, but just now realised that since it is so focused on Pakistani education, I should post it here. JazakAllah- 2 replies

Just curious, for those who are used to reading my posts, do I sound more British or American ? If that's even noticeable of course. I know, a bit of a silly and selfish question. We were mainly taught British grammar/syntax (words like realise, programme) but I feel the Yankee influence is strong on my speech. Cheers, Thanks !

Hello, I have a question. So I have an issue in my life and have been advised to read surah Yasin 40 times for my troubles to be fixed. I agreed to do it and started to read. My problem is that I dont speak arabic and can barely read it. After some practice through the years I am able to 'read' it...as in I know the alphabet and how it works and can sound it out....but I am really bad at it. For example it can take me a full minute or two to read a line. Not only am I veryyyyy brutally slow, I also make mistakes, and I also dont understand it - Like I have no idea what I am saying! After a gruelling 3 times of reading it in arabic (and it took me an hour each time to read something that takes people 10 minutes to read!) I got really frustrated and stopped. It literally has no meaning for me and I felt it was useless. Then I decided to read the english translation of it and thought wow! how beautiful! Got Chills! So now I am wondering if I could just read it 40 times in english? would that 'count'? Or does it *need* to be read in arabic? My reasoning is: - It takes forever to read it - I am probably making a million mistakes and dont even know it - I don't understand anything I am reading - if I am going to go through all of that should I not at least LEARN something from it? I feel I can LEARN the message of the Quran by reading this over and over (it is the heart of the quran!). But if I read it in arabic it literally does nothing for me aside from give me a really big headache. SO what do you guys think? Can I just read it in English? Or does it HAVE to be in arabic for it to 'count' ? :/

bismihi ta'ala assalamu alaykum, In case someone doesn't know, Tafsir Al-Mizan is a momentous exegetical work written by Allama Muhammad Hussain Al-Tabatabaei (ra), the great philosopher. His work consisted of 20 volumes which he wrote in Arabic, and the style of his Tafsir was Ijtihadi - a commentary of the Qur'an by the Qur'an, this work took him twenty years to complete. Syed Sa'eed Akhtar Rizvi had taken the task of translating this work upon himself and had translated up until volume 12 (which corresponds with about volume 6 of the Arabic) and had begun translating volume 13 when he died about a decade ago. Since then there have been new projects which have started translating the work again but Syed Rizvi's work remained incomplete until his son, Syed Muhammad Rizvi, completed volume 13 (corresponding to the first half of volume 7 of the Arabic). It is being published at the moment however is available online (on the publisher's website) for downloading as a free PDF along with the rest of the book. http://www.wofis.com/Publications.aspx?bookID=8&partID=57 May Allah bless the souls of Allama Al-Tabatabaei and Syed Sa'eed Akhtar Rizvi, and give a long life to Syed Muhammad Rizvi. wa assalam

Salam, I have taken an interest in the Shia way of Islam and learning about it has brought back my faith (I come from a Sunni background). However, in the process I feel a bit lost and don't know where to turn, it would be nice to meet some sisters so I have some guidance on some of my questions. I have gone to some gatherings but they are mainly in Farsi, and I feel very left out attending! Are there any other sisters in London facing the same thing? Thank you
