  1. SALAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM YA ALI MADAAAAAAAAD OK OK OK so as u may know its currently GCSE season. we are coming to the end of the season with just 2 weeks remaining INSHA'ALLAH PLEASE DUA AND PRAY FOR ME AND MY EXAMS AS IM VERY VERY STRESSED JAZAK ALLAH
  2. Salaam all Currently, im in year 11, finna sit my GCSE's in a month Insha'Allah wish me luck and do DUA!!! However, the unis i wish to apply for after college in 2026/2027 academic year are asking for a grade 5 (uni of York) and grade 6 (uni of Nottingham)in GCSE Maths, I'm doing foundation maths so the highest i can get is a grade 5. currently im working at mid-high 4 / low 5. My query is that: If I get a grade or two below their GCSE requirement but in college i meet / exceed their National extended diploma requirement of DDD (so say I get a D*D*D* or smth insha' allah). Do I still have a good chance of getting into either of these unis? I'm planning to do Finance, accounting and management (nottingham) and finance and accounting (york) would prefer nottingham but wouldn't mind york too much either insha'allah as for college im planning to do Business and Finance L3 National Foundation/EXTENDED diploma for 2 years before uni insha'allah i need DDD for york (distinction distinction distinction) and D* D D for nottingham (Distinction star). so yeah thats my question Jazak Allah Note: for a career im trying to get into investment banking Insha'Allah, so i need to go to a prestige uni!!!
  3. Salaam Alaikum! This is my first post here! How is everyone ??? I am hoping to work in Investment Banking either in mergers and acquistions or Sales and trading Insha'Allah I don't have much experience besides some daytrading I did a while back? What tips you have for an aspring invesment banker? Hopefully I can work in Goldman Sachs or JP one day Insha' Allah ? (as for college i will be attending UK college but after college for UNI i'm unsure whether I wish to attend British or hopefully US Universities for better grad opportunities but I'm unsure how to go about going uni there!) Ya Ali (عليه السلام) Madad
  4. Salam, I was wondering if anyone had contact information (email or phone number) for English-speaking maulanas (like Syed Asad Jafri, etc), or anyone educated (student or teacher as long as they have knowledge, also sisters or brothers) who is open to answering questions. If you think it is better to privately message me the contact information rather than post it on a public forum, please do so; my inbox is open inshallah. Duas.
  5. Salam, I am wondering, does anyone know any good Shia books that are related specifically/mainly to perfecting your character? Thank you in advance.
  6. I made a video recently on how the current content of education material plays a role in the oppression of Shi'a Muslims. I posted the video in General Islamic Discussion before, but just now realised that since it is so focused on Pakistani education, I should post it here. JazakAllah
  7. In the name of Allah, I have made a video touching upon my country's education system and how it effectively contributes to Shi'a oppression. JazakAllah
  8. Bismillah i Rahman i Raheem Assalaam o 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah i Wa Barakaatuh I am currently a student in high school. I've had an interest in mathematics and physics, but I may not be able to pursue that interest due to some past incidents where some cruel people sabotaged my academics and due to some other financial issues. My life plan was to initially study these two subjects and then after that attend the Hawza at Najaf and study the faith there. However, it seems unlikely for this to be the case, so I have been thinking about turning the plan on its head, such that I study at Hawza e Najaf instead first, and if I live long enough, study physics and mathematics at some institution separately. I am aware of how different life will be if I choose to live in Najaf and how I'll need to make a living there, especially due to language issues considering I am from Pakistan, and my understanding of arabic/farsi is essentially absolutely zero, but I have heard it isn't impossible to live there even with these issues. I write this post in seeking guidance as to how to apply to the Hawza, how to essentially get admitted there, and study there. I would sincerely appreciate this help. JazakAllah Wa 'Alaikum Assalaam Wa Rahmatullah i Wa Barakaatuh
  9. Assalamu alaykum everyone. I hope you are all in the best of health insha'Allah. I'm in a dilemma. Despite the obvious stress of going to university this September during a global pandemic there's another problem. I come from a low economic background and the idea of me being able to pay tuition (£9000+ annually) is unrealistic let alone having to pay for university equipment i.e a laptop (especially since university is going to be online for half the year if not more). In a normal situation someone would take student loans and a maintenance loan. However, both of these include interest being added each year (not in my benefit but to them when I pay the university back). I know that interest and riba is a great sin which is why I'm asking for everyone's advice/help. I've tried applying for Muslim loans and charities however they either to be too little to match my cost or are bias in what degree you must take to be eligible. For context I'm looking to study Middle Eastern Studies combined with Arabic at a prestigious university. This in mind, I wanted to make a big impact insha'Allah through this degree. I've been told that it doesn't matter therefore that there is interest added as I am insha'Allah going to be able to give back to the community. However, I also realise that I can acquire such knowledge without going to university and I don't care too much about the experience. Additionally, I am much more interested in going to howza in the future (maybe in Iran) when I become independent in the future insha'Allah as I am very much interested in Islamic studies/theology. With all this said: 1) What was your own experience with university? 2) How to tell one's parent? Jazak'Allah brothers and sisters.

  11. Sallam Alikum, I have an America friend who would like to read more about Islam, and she wants me to recommend her books. The books I am reading right now, are a bit more complicated and go deeper into Islam, but I want to give her easier books to understand Islam. I do also wish they're more Shia based books. Which books to you all recommend I tell her about? Thank you so much.

  14. Salam everyone. I'm interested in studying Shia Islami Tibb and Hijama, and pursuing a career in it. I have searched Google for information related to the institutes which teach these subjects but I couldn't find much information. I would appreciate information about cheap tuition fee institutes which offer courses/degrees/certifications in Hijama, Shia Islami Tibb. Please help.
  15. Interested to know what your interests are in academia/ line of work! Personally I study science as a Futuremedstudent
  16. Salam Especially asking parents, but I'd appreciate input from young people too. My seven year old is a math wiz, and pretty quick to pick up science concepts too, but she is reluctant to pick up a book and read. I'd like to encourage her to develop her natural math ability, but I'd also like to encourage her to become a reader. If a person can read, they can teach themselves anything, and through fiction we experience scenarios we would never encounter in real life, increasing wisdom. She likes books that involve cats and magic, but there are (as might be expected) a limited number of those, especially when it's further limited to second/third grade reading level. Any suggestions for books, or even puzzle or math books or games that might get her reading but are still fun and age appropriate? @Haji 2003? Any expertise to share?

  19. Salaam, I am an American Shia Muslim, raised Sunni. I learned about the Ahlul Bayt and read some more then came to the conclusion that to be the Shia of Ali was the right path. I only really know the surface levels of Shia Islamic practices, but just like the Sunni Madhabs, there is a lot of variance in opinion on several things. Ayatollah Sistanis website has been very helpful, and I tend to refer to his judgement for consistency, but is there anything in the west or online where one can get a foundation on Shia fiqh? (Since I live in America, going to Iraq or Iran really is not an option for now.)
  20. Hello! My family is planning to move back to Iraq after 20 years in Sweden and I have accepted that. My only problem is that I don't know how the education system for Iraq's high school work and how many subjects they have and what kind of subjects. Also, is the education good there? Every answer is much appreciated.
  21. Salam Alaikum my dear brothers and sisters, I'm starting college in two days please make dua for me to succeed in all of my classes and pass with straight A's. jazakallah khayr
  22. Salam, Is there anyone here who completed their undergrad in science or is doing it? What major exactly? What are you doing with your degree in science or what do you plan on doing with it? Are you doing a masters/phD now? I would love to know. I'm really grateful to have the privilege of getting an education, but I'm feeling really stuck and a little bit hopeless tbh. There's too many options as to what you can do, but everything is just so competitive and demanding!! Also, everyone talks about going into med/pharm/dent/optometry etc after their undergrad... but is there ANYONE who went into industry? Like work in a lab or something? If so how's it like? I don't want to graduate and still be deciding on what to do ._.
