Assalamualaikum Recently I have been listening to this lectures reviewing the book of adabus salat by Ayatollah Khomeini. Maybe I misheard or misinterpet some part of the lecture because I feels like the lecture main focus is full detachment for dunya, and having no thought except for Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى). If a person cant occupy their heart with God consistently, then they will not be suluk and they will be distracted in their salat. Therefor their salat will be rejected. Atleast thats what I got from the video. Problem is, I dont know what to do, I still "like" this dunya, I still likes to play games, watch youtube, etc. People said these actions are fine as long as its halal and one said bismilah. But which part of playing games count as remembering God? I am pretty sure God would be happier if I read the Quran instead. I also have a passion project of writing stories and books. This passion project is solely due to myself, this isnt ibadat, nor is it for God. I dont know if I should continue the project now. After all, anything not for God is useless and should be abandoned, right? I am confused.

Assalamualaikum. I've been watching self-improvement content but not taking any action on it for a long time. I watch Hamza, Captain Sinbad, Tim Ferriss, Dan Koe, Alex Hormozi, Jordan Peterson and Chris Williamson. I've also read over 40 books on self-improvement, some of which suggested haram practices which I didn't engage in that would supposedly get me results in a particular pursuit. I've read books on relationships, quitting vices, psychology, fitness, habit formation, improving your mental health, making tough decisions and mental toughness. Mentally, I have gotten stronger from reading these books. I have a lot of discipline now outside of one or two haram vices that I'm trying to quit. I have been inspired by these content creators to pursue entrepreneurship and I've found philosophical wisdom that I can apply to any situation to maintain a positive outlook on life. I've became an optimist thanks to these videos, but I'm not being grateful to Allah. I watched a couple of videos today; one of them called Self-Improvement idolatry, the other claimed that it ruined his relationship with Allah. I could barely sit through both videos because I have a greater purpose with self-improvement, which is providing value to my family. It's providing value to my community. I wouldn't have found out how to without self-improvement, or is that a limiting belief because those videos have shown me how low my iman is? I don't believe that I can live a purposeful life without those books and videos. I feel addicted to self-improvement and that addiction has left me feeling kind of empty. I felt empty anyway. Did Allah lead me to Islam, or did self-improvement lead me there? I have no idea. You're arguing with something nebulous that most people can't see. I feel as though Islam promotes an external locus of control, meaning that it promotes giving in completely to circumstance. Admitting that improving your life is hopeless when you weren't the one that created yourself. You act as though you can create yourself, when it's Allah who created you and you're just trying to metaphorically draw yourself a new face. I'm scared of believing in Allah 100%, meaning that my last Shahadah was probably invalid inshallah. I don't want to give up my internal locus of control, my self-belief, unless there's a how to guide which gives convincing evidence by contrasting facts about mammals. I'm stuck in this dunya. Help.

Some say he walks between us just like a normal human being but he isnt getting recognized that he is the imam. In the time of Adam he was told: 'Ascend!' And, until now he is ascending. He has not set himself free from the worldly attachments and the filth that sticks with them. He has not reached the clean atmosphere yet. Thus, here it is all darkness. In darkness a human being is searching for a religion and is performing deeds. He has a set of beliefs. When he frees himself from the dust of the traditions and enters the clean space, he will see the brilliant face of the friend of God [= wali = the twelfth Imam] and benefit from his presence without any obstruction, in public. At that time ordinances of religion will become something else, and religion will attain its original form and everything will be different. The word refers to the mythological universe known to the mystics as very difficult world requiring the strength or courage of Hercules to encounter or accomplish. Tr - The Promised Mahdi is among my descendants. His name and patronymic will be the same as mine. In creation and conduct he will be the closest to me. He will live a life of occultation during which people will become confused and lost. At that time, like a brilliant star he will appear and fill the earth with justice and equity, as it is filled with injustice and tyranny4. "Allah the Exalted ordered Musa [Moses] (a.s.) and Harun [Aaron] (a.s.) to go to Pharaoh. Well, it was a big task for two individuals to go and confront – on their own – a great power that existed at that time: Pharaonic power was a great power in terms of politics and social affairs and even in terms of his influence on the people and his bureaucratic resources. There are many things to be said about the Pharaonic power. Pharaoh was an shocking phenomenon. He was a tyrannical power who did whatever he liked with abundant resources at his disposal." "Allah the Exalted entrusted two individuals with the task of confronting and fighting against that person. Hazrat Musa (P.B.U.H) said, “If we go, they might kill us and thus our task will remain half-finished.” They were not afraid of being killed. They said that their task would remain half-finished. “He said, ‘Fear not for I am with you. I hear and see everything” [The Holy Quran, 20: 46]. God said that He was with them. Notice that this is divine assistance: “For I am with you. I hear and see everything.” When God says, “God is with those who observe piety” – as I said, if we have piety, God is with us – this divine assistance and accompaniment means that one can send two individuals empty-handed so that they fight against a Pharaoh." "Elsewhere in the Holy Quran – of course, this has been repeated in the Holy Quran many times and I am narrating another part of it – when it came to public confrontation and challenge and when Hazrat Musa (P.B.U.H) gathered Bani Israel so that they would get out of the city at dawn, very early in the morning or at midnight, and get rid of Pharaoh, Pharaoh’s spies said to him in the morning – when the sun had risen a little – that Bani Israel have evacuated the city and that all of them have gone. Pharaoh became agitated as he thought that they would go somewhere else and would create a nucleus. He ordered his army to gather. They gathered the army and chased Bani Israel." "I do not know the interval between Bani Israel’s departure and the gathering of the Pharaoh’s army. Perhaps, it took that army one, two days – more or less – to advance. Well, Bani Israel were walking on foot without enough resources. They were a bunch of ordinary people comprised of women, men and children, but the Pharaoh’s army had military equipment, large troops, horses and everything. They would naturally reach them soon and they did so. When Musa’s followers saw them from a distance and when they saw that the Pharaoh’s army was approaching, they became nervous. In the Holy Quran – Sura al-Shuara – God says, “And when the two bodies saw each other” [The Holy Quran, 26: 62]. When the two groups – Prophet Musa’s (P.B.U.H) group, which was ahead, and the Pharaoh’s group which was chasing them – saw each other from afar and when they got so close that they could see one another, “The people of Musa said, ‘We are sure to be overtaken’” [The Holy Quran, 26: 62]. Bani Israel, who were with Musa (P.B.U.H), became terrified. They said, “Oh Musa, they will catch us soon.” The Arabic word “mudrakun” means overtaking, reaching. They said that the Pharaoh’s army would capture and massacre them shortly." "What was Musa’s (P.B.U.H) answer? Prophet Musa (P.B.U.H) said in response, “He said, ‘By no means.’”. He said that such a thing would never happen. Why? It is because “My Lord is with me.” This is divine assistance. He said that God is with him: “My Lord is with me. Soon will He guide me” [The Holy Quran, 26: 63]. Notice that divine assistance has such significance. When they say, “For God is with those who observe piety, and those who do good” the value of this assistance should be appreciated. If we can preserve this divine assistance, you should know that even if some people in the world have a kind of power which is 10 times more than that of America – let alone the power of America itself – the divine power which accompanies us will overcome them." بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم Assalamu alaykum, My friend once told me that he views me as a best friend and he calls 3 other people his best friend. I told him I would never be able to have him as a best friend, not because he's a bad person or there is anything wrong, but because I believe you only have one best friend - that's why it's called best friend(singular) I also told him I don't know if I am being too idealistic in this world, but this is what I see in friends and ranks: 1. Best friend 2. Close friend 3. Good friend 4. Friend 5. Acquaintance He of course is not offended and completely understands however... Am I being too idealistic in this dunya? Is this realistic? Islamic? I would be grateful for all your ideas. JazakAllah.
