I feel very heartbroken often when traditionally I've been told several times that men are greater than women in Islam just because they are PROVIDERS or BREADWINNERS. I understand that men work exceptionally hard to provide for the family & I truly respect that & that they are physically stronger than women but just because their position is questionable in Islam. she is a grown woman but can't leave the house without the permission of her husband (other than in exceptional cases), there is no discussion about sexual consent in marriage just that she has to sexually please her husband, women have to wear veil YET men can take off their shirt for matam, men can HIT women according to one ayah in Quran yet women can't hit them BACK, heritage is not equally distributed cause of brothers, men can marry non-Muslim women & women can't, men are not obligated to fulfill his duties if wife persists in sexual activities but women ARE. I am extremely disappointed due to these ~MiNoR~ things that make me feel like it's hidden patriarchy in Islam which is unjust. It's impacting my relationship with Allah. mentors I need your guidance because I don't want to ruin my relationship with Allah. jazakallah

I need help, I have a best friend who has gone through a lot in her life has had major surgery from a young age and is beginning to crumble, things aren't going well and shes giving up, shes loosing the want for god and feels like hes put too much for her and she feels the only way to find happiness is when she gets pleasure from a guy , not sex though. I tried to tell her all her troubles are a test and she will leave this world without them, I tell her to turn to Allah but shes obviously hurt and lost hope, she said she was perfect as a child but the had major health issues and her life went crumbling down after that through family, friends, money, education. this is heaps deeper but you cant explain 6 years in one paragraph, any advise on what I can tell her to get her back on the right track.

My mom always refers me as her bad son, because I like restaurant food more than home cooked meals.. Every night she calls me and ask me about my plans that where am I going to have lunch; home or restaurant... Is that an inappropriate thing to get your meal from restaurant/hotel?

I know I am making generalizations here but I have noticed something. Girls are better than boys in education, since on average in the UK statistics show that girls do better than boys in school. Girls mature quicker than boys Girls can take more pain And the reason why Islam has banned women from some professions (being a Judge) is because men lack some gender specific qualities that women have and this lacking is what makes them suitable, e.g. Men are not as caring as women and so a criminal cannot sway their hearts with tears and sad tales because the men simply don't care that much about tears and feelings but women are caring and more caring than men, which makes them better. The only feature in which men are better is physical strength, however this can't really be a strength today, Horses are physically stronger than men yet men ride horses. So physical strength is obsolete. Also nothing makes me cry worse then angry words from a women, some time ago I jokingly made fun of a certain woman's teapot and she did not even reply with bad words but it was the way she said it and the way she looked at me that nearly made me burst into tears. I can get beaten up but I won't cry but a women can make me cry just by looking at me and speaking in an intimidating way, and my cries at that point would not even be an angry one which causes retaliation, it would be one which causes me to crawl up and cry like a pathetic kid in a dark corner. So I have learned to not confront women or speak in any form whatsoever which would displease them.

Salam alaykum brothers and sisters. It´s hard for me to start this topic but i´ll try not to say too much! I´m a teenager girl and I have this habit of falling in love pretty easy without even knowing the "guy" and i hate it soo bad! "Todays society" i really want to get away from this "habit" and recently i´m developing feelings for a guy which is not shia, he is sunni and I think about him all day and all night, I kind of love him soo much I want to marry him but I can´t see a future with him and me because it will cause problems. It´s just soo wrong and i can´t control myself. I need to become more religious and i need to know how? If someone could link some lectures it would be nice. I need a life change and I know that Ahlebayt/Islam is the way, I want to depend everything on Allah and just know that he is the one who will never dissapoint me. Jazakk.

Salam Alaykom! I have heard ,and I am pretty sure it is wrong but I would like to have the correct anwers, that the prayers becomes wajib for girls at the age of 9 and for boys at the age of 16. I understand that the girls get into puberty far earlier than the boys, but not at the age of 16?! So my question here is, when is it wajib for boys and girls to pray and fast? At what age and why? Thank you, and may Allah bless you all!
