  1. As most people know, with the ongoing genocide of Palestinians and Israeli companies coming to light about their Zionist connections and other terrible things, there is a boycott going around for many companies including Coca Cola and it's subproducts; Sprite, Fanta, etc. Fatwahs have further come out saying that they are Haram to buy, sell or consume. So I was wondering, if these drinks are gifted, or given as Tabaruk (which shouldn't, but in this scenario has...), is it still Haram to drink them? If yes, can I give it to other friends then? If you're replying, please give a source of what your answers are based on. Thank you!!
  2. Salam, I was wondering if anyone could tell me the role of the sahaba during the 3 year boycott of banu hashim and the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). For example where was Abu Bakr, Omar, Osman, and Ali. And what did they do. Thanks
  3. Many of you have heard the scholars, Sayed Khamenei and Sayed Fadlallah, who put politics as one major important factor in Islam. Their concern is Israel and the USA. I post some of their Fatwas: Khamenei: Fatwa 8822 (from Leaders Office, Qum, Iran) Date: 27 Feb 2002 Question: 1) Is it permissible to buy products from the United States of America or american products? 2) Is it permissible to buy goods from companies that allocate parts of their profits to support USA or support USA? 3) Is it permissible to buy goods from companies that spread immorality (unislamic atmosphere) and support immorality (unislamic atmosphere)? Answer: 1&2) Any transaction with a company which ist profit is for helping the enemies of Islam and Muslims or for supporting the Zionism regime is not permissible. 3) If buying goods from these companies would support them and assist them in spreading corruption and immorality, it is impermissible. http://www.inminds.c...atwas.html#imam Fadlallah: "All American and Israeli goods and products should be boycotted in a way that undermines American and Israeli interests so as to act as deterrence to their war against Muslims and Islam that is being waged under the pretense of fighting terrorism. This boycott should become an overwhelming trend that makes these two states feel that their economies are in a real and actual danger." http://en.wikiquote....ssein_Fadlallah These Fatwas were given before recent sanctions against Iran, so they cannot merely be explained through American sanctions on Iran. Now, how do you deal with such Fatwas? My questions/issues: Why do they just concentrate on Israel and US goods? As for Israeli goods I can understand to some extend. But how can you justify calling for boycott against US goods? First, there are Muslims working in the USA, boycotting US goods would take them their living. And why on earth did they pick US? Europe, Canada, Australia, Russia are not less responsible for the creation and support of the state of Israel. And why do they talk about one country's oppression while they leave other countries, like Russia, China, India and other countries, which similarly oppress Muslims around the world and are imperialist countries? Why does Iran in return complain about sanctions on it by the West/USA, when it has Fatwas which calls people to sanction USA? And finally: Is this not failed politics, just concentrating on one country, the USA? Edit: And that is how the Iranian regime sticks to these boycott calls: http://features.kodo...ine-and/v/4642/ To me these Fatwas seem not to be taken seriously even by followers of these two scholars, comparing how they buy US made technology, like apple products, computers etc.
  4. (salam) UK Co-op extends boycott of goods made in illegal Israeli settlements Britain’s fifth biggest food retailer and the country's largest mutual business, the Co-operative Group, has extended a boycott of goods from illegal settlements that have been produced on occupied Palestinian territories in the West bank. The supermarket chain has taken the lead among European supermarkets to end trade with companies that purchase produce made in illegal Israeli settlements. "Following an audit of the Group's supply chain, it will no longer do business with four companies, accounting for £350,000 worth of sales, as there is evidence that they source from the Israeli settlements in the Palestinian occupied territories," the statement said. "The Group will also continue to actively work to increase trade links with Palestinian businesses in the occupied territories.” The Co-op, which has not bought goods from the illegal settlements since 2009, decided to extend the boycott further by "no longer engaging with any supplier of produce known to be sourcing from the Israeli settlements". The decision is expected to hit four Israeli companies including Agrexco, Arava Export Growers, Adafresh as well as Mehadrin which is Israel's largest agricultural export company. Welcoming the supermarket chain’s move, Hilary Smith, Co-op member and Boycott Israel Network (BIN) agricultural trade campaign coordinator, said the Co-op "has taken the lead internationally in this historic decision to hold corporations to account for complicity in Israel's violations of Palestinian human rights. We strongly urge other retailers to take similar action." Furthermore, a spokesperson for the Palestinian Union of Agricultural Work Committees said, trading with companies such as Mehadrin “constitutes a major form of support for Israel's apartheid regime over the Palestinian people, so we warmly welcome this principled decision by the Co-operative."
