To Meet God With Satisfaction Millions of hearts reshatter each year Skies weep, starlings cease, smiles disappear Millions of faces stream with tears Cleansing the dirt from the souls of the sincere Millions of ears open up to hear The call echoing infinitely made by our dear Al-Husayn who cried out loudly, unmistakably clear "Is there any one at all, far or near Who is willing to help me?" As he looked around desperately Alone in a bleeding sea of his martyred family Islam had a storm cloud advancing overhead Blocking the light of truth, raining corruption instead Husayn fought against the dark shadow that had spread He stood up against the tyrants and staunchly said "If oppression is my only choice, I'd rather be dead"-- Allowing the light to shine through again with the revolution he led Now all these years later, again, injustice is rife Greed and corruption: just a part of life But are any of us willing to make Husayn's sacrifice? Willing to disrupt the status quo with rebellion and strife? With so many suffering everyday, their worlds in chronic crisis Are we willing to fight for our morals, willing to wield a saif*? What we learn from Al-Husayn, and his 72 companions Is that choosing the side of goodness only has value if there's action Not only must we see that change needs to happen But we must put aside our comforts and any distractions And be ready within to stand firmly against all of the Yazids of today So that in the next life we may meet God with not regret but satisfaction *Arabic for sword
