Dear brothers and sisters, I did not find an answer to my question yet,therefore I’m asking you: Can our dead relatives hear us when we’re on the graveyard and talk to them?I know that,for example, our Prophets and Imams can hear us but what about normal people?Are they able to hear us when we,for example,tell them about our day or what’s going on in our lives?

Assalam-o-alaikum. I was curious if anyone here has listened to these audio episodes in Urdu? And what they thought? It's based on a true story of an Irani soldier who had died for 3 minutes then came back to life. The story Chronicles his experience of that 3 minutes when he had stepped into the Barzakh realm. This was really an eye opener for me and a must listen to for everyone specially for the youth. Probably something one should listen to as a constant reminder whenever drifting away from Iman. Very good audio book and I hope it soon will be available in english as well but for now its available in Urdu per the link below. 3 Minutes of Qiyamath It is a biographical discourse of a person who was declared dead for 3 minutes and the predicaments he had to face in the Barzaq in those 3 minutes. The audios were recorded Chapter wise with each clip approximately 15 minutes in duration. The link below consists of 3 chapters. http://www.shiaaudios.com/3 Min of Qiyamat.html

Salam, I have been watching this very well done, in depth, and informative lecture series by Maulana Rizwi in Toronto. I will post the videos here. If anyone has questions or would like to discuss, please post on this thread. It is rare to find lectures of this caliber and detail on this topic in English.

I don't really understand the whole concept of barzakh. Can anyone please explain it simply? Not too detailed, but detailed enough to understand the full concept. Thank you

Salam alaykum It is mentioned in Beharul Anwaar, Vol: 3, that the Holy Prophet said: I was grazing sheep before I was made His messenger by Almighty God. During those days I used to observe (as you might have also) that goats and sheeps were becoming still all of a sudden as if shocked deeply by something. You might have also observed that sometimes poultry birds like hen jump off and stop picking their food even when no danger (like animal) is seen anywhere near them. After I began getting revelations, I asked for the reason of such unusual happenings and Jibreel told me that in the realm of Barzakh, sinners get divine punishments. Their cries are heard by all except men and jinns. Such voices shock animals and they stop taking food etc.

Once upon a time there was a man in the jungle enjoying a nice day watching the equatorial lush green foliage and the exotic animal life. Suddenly, the man heard the movement of a lion behind him and so ran for his life. But the man couldn’t escape and came face to face with the lion. As he was thinking quickly of another way to escape, he saw a deep well to his right. His options were narrowed between drowning in the well and being chewed by the hungry lion. The man decided to jump into the well hoisting himself with a rope tied to the top of the well for drawing water. As he reached the bottom of the well, the man saw a huge man-eating snake taking a nap at the bottom; the man pulled himself up in the middle of the well, suspended between a hungry lion on the top and a sleeping snake at the bottom. Meanwhile the man noticed that two mice, one black and one white were chewing the rope he was hanging on, making it thinner and thinner. The man began to swing with the rope hitting the sides of the walls of the well periodically. Suddenly he felt something sticky on his shoulder, as he examined what it was, he found that it was honey. Upon looking around the well he noticed a bee colony on the wall of the well. The man forgot the dangerous situation he was involved in and started licking the honey to his satisfaction. He suddenly remembered where he was and jumped out of bed. The man was dreaming all along. The man went to a Sheikh to interpret his dream. The Sheikh asked him: “You do not understand this dream?" The man replied "Yes sir, I do not." The Sheikh said "The lion that was chasing you is the Angel of Death. The well which housed the snake is your grave. The rope in the well that you were hanging on is your lifetime ticking away. The Rodents chewing your rope, the black and the white mice are the day and the night. The man asks "The honey, Sir, What is the honey?" The Sheikh replied “The honey is the life of this world and its temptations which made you forget that there was death behind you and a grave ahead of you. You end up in the grave while savoring the taste of the honey until you find yourself standing trial for your deeds in a Court of Law of the most Just kind. The above narration was just intended to remind us that we are also busy licking the honey (lost in the temptations of this world) while our life time is ticking away. Some day (sooner or later) we will also face the angel of death and will be carried to our grave! Say: "Verily, the death from which you flee will surely meet you, then you will be sent back to (Allah), the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will tell you what you used to do." {Surat Al-Jumu`ah, Verse 8}

Salaams, As many of us know, there is a 'waiting period' between when you die and the Day of Judgement which is called "Barzakh" in which everyone will undergo the squeezing of the grave and other punishments (depending on the severity of your sins obviously). When the Universe is destroyed on the Day of Judgement (after Imam (a.s.) resurrects and builds a government etc and brings peace to the world) will the people who die on that day also undergo Barzakh? Will some be resurrected straight after they die without needing to go to this "middle-realm"? What are your opinions/ideas? (Please correct me if any of my knowledge is wrong :))
