https://ahvalnews.com/sdf/pentagon-allocates-550-million-sdf The Pentagon has announced that it will allocate $550 million of its 2019 budget to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a group that Turkey views as linked to a terrorist entity, the Turkish state-rune Anadolu Agency reported on Monday. The budget will include $300 million to train and equip the SDF, and a further $250 million for a contentious “border force” that is being set up to guard the regional borders. The United States sees the SDF as a multi-ethnic force that is an

Why Trump is bombing Syria, explained in 2 sentences Updated by Zack Beauchamp@zackbeauchampzack@vox.com Apr 6, 2017, 11:31pm EDT Trump speaks at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, FL, on Thursday, April 6, 2017. (AP Photo/Alex Brandon) Late on Thursday, the United States launched a cruise missile strike against a Syrian regime airbase — the first intentional US strike on Bashar al-Assad’s forces since the Syrian war began in 2011. The strike was in direct response to a chemical weapon attack on the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhoun on Tuesday, which killed at lea

I have sunni parents who view Assad as an evil dictator, and one sheikh who I frequently watched in the past even called him "the firaun of our times" but I've been doing some research and I've realized this isn't all one sided. My dad views Assad as the "greater of two evils" in his words, and my mom probably thinks the same, the two being Assad Vs moderate rebels (FSA)...my question is, do you think the FSA (Free Syrian Army) is a terrorist group or that the revolution is legitimate, or neither, is assad supported by his people, and what do you think of Bashar Al Assad?

Salaam Alaikum all-- I know this is going to be a difficult task to ask of everyone. I am not well informed regarding the Syrian crisis, and if possible, can someone give me a brief description of all the events that lead up to the Syrian Civil War, and if possible, what are our roles as Muslims in the conflict, i.e. who should we support. My husband says he supports Assad and has articles about what's going on, but unfortunately, most are in Arabic. I just want to make sure I have knowledge of this subject, and what side I should support or what I can do further as a Muslim. Thank you.

Last year I wrote an article about the geopolitical issues behind the conflict in Syria. Please read it. Why is Syria being threatened? Thank you.

BEIRUT - Government forces backed by Hezbollah fighters took full control of the Syrian town of Yabroud on Sunday after driving out rebel fighters, state media said, helping President Bashar Assad to secure the land route linking the capital Damascus to the former commercial hub of Aleppo and the Mediterranean coast. The fall of Yabroud, the last rebel bastion near the Lebanese border, would also choke off a vital insurgent supply line from Lebanon and consolidate government control over a swathe of territory from Damascus to the central city of Homs. I am someone who was hopeful of Sunni shia unity or at least co-operation would come at some point after all theres no point in keep fighting at some point there will have to be a truce especially meaning a truce between salafis and shias, its not funny but possible, problem was nobody proposed negotiations this concerns two elements despised oppositely by sunnis and shias, jihadi salafis & hezbollah shias or iran supporting shias I write this in the context of the overwhelming trend (I know nothing is 100%) which is what actually matters hezbollah with iran has lost credibility i

(salam) We all know what's going on in Syria. But I want to know further. I want to know why Iran and Hezbollah are supporting Al Assad Government. I want to know why don't we oppose Al Assad because he's a dictator. I want to know why Shia Muslims don't support the rebels because they only want removal of dictatorship-in-disguise-of-democracy. I want to know why only Sunni Muslims support those rebels. I'm very confused. I believe or say it seems to me as if Al Assad Government should be removed and the demands made by the rebels should be accepted. But I fear I can be wrong beca

Salams my dear Muslim brothers and sisters and all who stand up for justice regardless of their religious background.... Allah, the Creator of the universe is against oppression. This is what Allah says about justice.... Does even one person on this forum want to be ruled by a nonMuslim dictatorship regime when most of the population are Muslim believers? No one wants to have their lives dictated by a dictatorship including everyone who is against the freedom for Syrians on this forum. O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah , even if it be again

It is said walid Jumblatt usually ends up on the winning side, weighs his options carefully, and is like a weather-vane of politics, he supports whoever is most likely to win. Given this fact, what do you make of his recent statements regarding the Syrian Uprising ? He jas made it clear that he is against Bashar al-Assad and has participated in many demonstrations in Beirut and even placed the Syrian Revolution Flag on the grave of his father. So does that mean he knows Assad is finished ? How else can he put all his eggs in the basket ? he knows that if Assad survives and comes out strong

The Alawi Capture Of Power In Syria
Propaganda_of_the_Deed posted a topic in Politics/Current Events
This was from the journal Middle East Studies back in 1989, by Daniel Pipes, I disagree with a lot of his anti-Islamic views, but this particular article is an interesting and objective, neutral historic account of the Alawi rise to power, (concluding that a once former persecuted and impoverished sector of Syrian society rose through the ranks due to two key institutions: the military and Ba'ath party). A bit of a long-read, but worthwhile. The Alawi Capture of Power in Syria by Daniel Pipes Middle Eastern Studies 1989 For many centuries, the 'Alawis were the weakest, poorest, most rural, mo -

Truth unveiled! Axis of evil Saudis, Americans and Israelis thought they wanted to hijack Syria in the middle of Arab spring, but that’s not they want, they want a slap with the back of the right hand! Arab spring is naturally an anti Israel movement against puppet regimes or friends of Israel such as Mubarak, as the chief of Israel described him as Israel’s best friend. They go down, and Israel is left without friends. Is Assad anything like Mubarak? no, was he also Israel’s best friend? no, did he promise his people to free occupied Syrian lands from Israel? YES. True Syrians’ demand for ref
