  2. Read the Reddit comments to understand what the thread was about, since the post has since been deleted. ....................................................................................... I'm so tired of the utterly nonsensical and VERY COMMON Sunni notion of 'I am happy to seek unity with Shias as long as they don't curse/insult/abuse any Sahaba, and especially NOT Aisha, Abu Bakr, Omar, Uthman. Firstly, any Shia claim regarding the sahabi that happens to go against the Sunni narrative is considered insulting. Secondly, and more importantly, is that the same notion is true for Shias... You are insulting the Ahlul Bayt by not accepting them as divinely appointed leaders of Allah, and infallible individuals, and perfect preservers of the religion of Islam, and a high means of seeking closeness to Allah (intercession). Not only are you insulting revered Shia figures by not following them, you are commiting MAJOR shirk by giving a false attribute to Allah, by saying that Allah has not always appointed an infallible leader on this Earth, and that there currently isn't an infallible leader. Furthermore, the real kicker is that plenty of revered Shia figures, such as Abu Talib (رضي الله عنه), are considered kuffar by Sunnis. Is this not insulting? So, how can we Shias unite with Sunnis based on their own fallacious logic? Shias are the minority, and Sunnis are the majority. It makes Sunnis think that they are Orthodox and that they have to unite with Heterodox for political and humanitarian reasons, and that Shias must make [ridiculous] compromises. Shias are far more receptive to the unity message, because we actually understand Sunni Islam, and can see the commonalities. We understand that we can't make Sunnis compromise on their beliefs. Simply by being the minority within Islam, by nature we Shias already understand Sunni beliefs, whereas Sunnis have a basic strawman understanding of Shia beliefs... which is natural, considering that they are the majority. Anyways, the point of my post is the following: Let's compile a list of revered Shia figures that are not given their proper status by Sunnis, according to Shia Islam... with an explanation given. ...This is to show that we Shias and Sunnis can unite, but we cannot unite upon revered figures and imamah. ...This will also serve as a way of showing Sunnis that this argument of theirs makes no sense. Another important question we may ask is "What about commonly revered figures like Imam Ali (عليه السلام) who is given different status in both sects? Can we unite upon Imam Ali (عليه السلام)?" ...a common Sunni criticism of political unity is that "Ali ibn Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) is given an improper status in Shia religion because they call upon him... tawassul (intercession) of the 'dead' is Shirk! So there is absolutely no room for unity since we can't even agree on the status of the sahabi" [yes, I am aware that the Imams (عليه السلام) are still alive, but Sunnis don't believe this...] I would love to hear your thoughts.   3. Below mentioned some narrations show the love, care and respect Umar a.s had for ahlebait a.s. Same Umar a.s whom twelver shia regard as killer of Sayeda Fatima s.a. From Musannaf ibn abi Shaybah: حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، قَالَ: ثنا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مَعْنٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ، أَرَادَ أَنْ يَفْرِضَ لِلنَّاسِ، وَكَانَ رَأْيُهُ خَيْرًا مِنْ رَأْيِهِمْ، فَقَالُوا: ابْدَأْ بِنَفْسِكَ، فَقَالَ: «لَا، فَبَدَأَ بِالْأَقْرَبِ فَالْأَقْرَبِ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،» فَفَرَضَ لِلْعَبَّاسِ ثُمَّ عَلِيٍّ حَتَّى وَالَى بَيْنَ خَمْسِ قَبَائِلَ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى بَنِي عَدِيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ [Zayd bin al-Hubab told us (Thiqah Imam), al-Qassim bin Ma`n told us (Thiqah Imam Kufi), from Ja`far (al-Sadiq), from his father, that when `Umar wanted to distribute among the people, and he was the best of them in opinion, they said: “Begin with yourself.” So he said: “No, I begin with those closest to the Prophet (saw).” So he distributed to al-`Abbas then to `Ali the Khums and continued to do so for every tribe until he ended with bani `Adi bin Ka`b. حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، قَالَ ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: لَمَّا وَضَعَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ الدَّوَاوِينَ اسْتَشَارَ النَّاسَ، فَقَالَ: «بِمِنْ أَبْدَأُ؟» قَالَ: ابْدَأْ بِنَفْسِكَ؟ قَالَ: «لَا، وَلَكِنِّي أَبْدَأُ بِالْأَقْرَبِ فَالْأَقْرَبِ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَبَدَأَ بِهِمْ» [Waki` told us (Thiqah Imam), Suffiyan told us (Thiqah Imam), from Ja`far, from his father, that he said: When `Umar was establishing the Diwans, he consulted the people. He asked: “With whom do I begin?” They said: “Begin with yourself?” He said: “No, but I shall begin with those closest to the Prophet (saw).” So he began with them.] حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَسَدِيُّ، قَالَ: ثنا حِبَّانُ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ، أُتِيَ مِنْ جَلُولَاءَ بِسَبْعَةِ آلَافِ أَلْفٍ فَفَرَضَ الْعَطَاءَ فَاسْتَشَارَ فِي ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ: «ابْدَأْ بِنَفْسِكَ، فَأَنْتَ أَحَقُّ بِذَلِكَ» ، قَالَ: لَا، بَلْ أَبْدَأُ بِالْأَقْرَبِ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا حَتَّى يَنْتَهِيَ ذَلِكَ إِلَيَّ، قَالَ: فَبَدَأَ فَفَرَضَ لِعَلِيٍّ فِي خَمْسَةِ آلَافٍ، ثُمَّ لِبَنِي هَاشِمٍ مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا، ثُمَّ لِمَوَالِيهِمْ، ثُمَّ لِحُلَفَائِهِمْ ثُمَّ الْأَقْرَبِ فَالْأَقْرَبِ حَتَّى يَنْتَهِي ذَلِكَ إِلَيَّ [Muhammad bin `Abdullah al-Asadi told us, Hibban told us, from Mujalid, from al-Sha`bi, that they brought `Umar seven million from Jalula’, so he ordered their distribution and consulted. `Abdul-Rahman bin `Awf said: “Start with yourself, you have the most right.” He replied: “No, I shall begin with those closest to the Prophet (saw), those who witnessed Badr until I end with myself.” So he ordered that `Ali receive five thousand, then to bani Hashim, those of them that witnessed Badr, then to their servants, then allies, and he kept on going until his own turn.] From al-Amwal lil-Qassim bin Salam: قال : وحدثت عن عبد الوهاب بن عبد المجيد الثقفي ، عن جعفر بن محمد ، عن أبيه ، أن عمر ألحق الحسن والحسين بأبيهما ، وفرض لهما في خمسة آلاف وحدثني نعيم بن حماد ، عن عبد العزيز بن محمد ، عن جعفر بن محمد ، عن أبيه ، أن عمر فعل ذلك بالحسن والحسين [He said: And I was told from `Abd Wahb bin `Abdul-Majeed al-Thaqafi, from Ja`far bin Muhammad, from his father, that `Umar followed `Ali by his sons al-Hasan and al-Husayn giving each of them five thousand. And Nu`aym bin Hammad (Imam Saduq) told me, from `Abdul-`Aziz bin Muhammad al-Darawardi (Hasan al-Hadith) from Ja`far bin Muhammad, from his father, that `Umar indeed did so with al-Hasan and al-Husayn.]
  4. We all know that there were many people at the time of Ahlebait a.s who were ghaali (exaggerators) who exalted Ahlebait a.s on the name of their love for them. I think following narrations are from such type of people. Because regardless of their authenticity they are clearly against the explicit commands of Allah swt in Quran. Below are the few examples. And they all are taken from this thread. Akhbari Shias accept and mention these narrations and other similar ones in their majalis, gatherings, books etc. Here I want to know, do Usuli Shias (majority of shia chatters) also accept such narrations in merits of Ahlebait a.s.? 1. "Imam Ali (a.s) was asked about the knowledge of the prophet (pbuh). Imam Ali (a.s) said: The prophet (pbuh) had the knowledge of all the prophets (a.s), and he had the knowledge of what has occured (in the past) and what will occur till the day of judgement. Then Imam Ali (a.s) said I swear by the on who conrols my life that I have the knowledge of the prophet (pbuh) and what will has occured (in the past) and what will occur between me and the hour (i.e day of judgment) ". Reference: Basa'er Adarajat volume 1 page 262 2. Imam Al-Hadi (a.s) said: The only reason why Allah regarded Nabi Abrahem (a.s) as his khalel (beloved friend), was due to the excess amount of Salwat he sent upon Muhammed (pbuh) and his Ahlu Al-Bayt (a.s). Reference: Ilull Ashara'e volume 1, ch #32 hadith #3 3. Holy Prophet (pbuh) said to Ali (a.s): "If all the oceans were ink, all the trees were pens, and all human beings were writers and all the Jinn maintained the records, even then, O Abu'l-Hasan! Your virtues could not be numbered." Reference: One hundred virtues for Imam Ali (a.s) #100 4. A number of our people has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from al-Muthanna al-Hannat from abu Basir who has said the following. "Once I went to see abu Ja‘far (a.s.) and asked him, "Are you the heirs of the Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Yes, we are his heirs." I then asked, "Was the Messenger of Allah the heir of the prophets and knew all that they knew?" He said to me, "Yes, it is true." I then asked, "Do you have the power to bring the dead back to life and cure the lepers, and the blind?" He said, "Yes, we do have such powers by the permission of Allah." The he said to me, "Come closer to me, O abu Muhammad." I went closer to him and he rubbed my face and my eyes and saw the sun, the skies, the earth, the houses and all things in the town. Then he said to me, "Do you like to live this way and will have what others have and be responsible for whatever they will be held responsible on the Day of Judgment or like to live as before and will have paradise purely?" I said, "I would like to live as I lived before." He rubbed my eyes and I found myself as before." The narrator has said that he told it to ibn abu ‘Umayr who said, "I testify that this is true just as the day is true." Reference: Al-Kafi, vol 1, Page 470. 5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn al-Muhtadi from ‘Adallah ibn Jundab to who Imam al-Rida (a.s.) wrote the following. "Thereafter, (thanking Allah) Muhammad (s.a.) was the trustee of Allah for His creatures. When he was taken away from this world we, Ahl al-Bayt inherited him, thus, we are the trustees of Allah over His earth. With us is the knowledge of the sufferings, the death, the genealogy of the Arabs and the birth of Islam. We know the man when we see him in the truth of faith or hypocrisy. Our followers (Shi‘a) are listed (with us) by their names and the names of their fathers. Allah has established a covenant with them and with us. They land wherever we would do so and enter wherever we would enter. There is no besides us and our followers as living the Islamic culture. We are the noble saviors and the descendents of the prophets and of the children of the successors of the prophets. We the ones to whom the book of Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, has come exclusively. We, of all people, have the first priority (closeness) to the book of Allah. We, of all people, have the first priority (closeness) to the Messenger of Allah. For us He formed His religion. Reference: Al-Kafi, vol 1, Page 224. 6. According to traditions attributed to the 5th and 6th Imams the Prophets and Imams are endowed with 5 spirits. 1) the holy spirit (Ruh al-Quds) who obtains knowledge for them and because of whom they can carry the repository of prophesy 2) the spirit of faith (Ruh al-Iman) through which they have faith, fear of the Lord and justice 3) the spirit of strength (ruh al-quwwa) through which they can expend effort in obedience to Allah 4) the spirit of longing (ruh al-shawah) through which they desire to serve Allah and satisfy their natural needs 5) the spirit of movement (ruh al-madraj) or the spirit of life (ruh al-hayat) which allows them to move Reference: Basair section 9 ch. 14 pp. 445-50, al-Kulayni Usul volume 2 pp 15-16 These types of narrations are clearly in contradiction to Quran. Say, [O Muhammad], "Invoke those you claim [as deities] besides Allah ." They do not possess an atom's weight [of ability] in the heavens or on the earth, and they do not have therein any partnership [with Him], nor is there for Him from among them any assistant. [34:22] And intercession does not benefit with Him except for one whom He permits. [And those wait] until, when terror is removed from their hearts, they will say [to one another], "What has your Lord said?" They will say, "The truth." And He is the Most High, the Grand. [34:23] And to many other verses.

  6. اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا سَيِّدَ الْبَطْحَآءِ وَابْنَ رَئِيْسِهَا اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ الْكَعْبَةِ بَعْدَ تَاْسِيْسِهَا اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا كَافِلَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَافِظَ دِيْنِ اللهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عَمَّ الْمُصْطَفٰى اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا اَبَا الْمُرْتَضٰى اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَالِدَ الْاَئِمَّةِ الْهُدٰى كَفَاكَ بِمَا اَوْلاَكَ اللهُ شَرَفًا وَّ نَسَبًا وَّ حَسْبُكَ بِمَا اَعْطَاكَ اللهُ عِزًّا وَّ حَسَبًا اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا شَرَفَ الْوُجُوْدِ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَ لِىَّ الْمَعْبُوْدِ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَارِسَ النَّبِىِّ الْمَوْعُوْدِ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَنْ رُزِقَ وَلَدٌ هُوَ خَيْرُ مَوْلُوْدٍ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَنْ خُصِّصَ بِالْوَلَدِ الزَّكِىِّ الطَّاهِرِ الْمُطَهَّرِ الْعَلِىٍّ اشْتُقَّ اسْمُهُ مِنَ الْعَلِىِّ هَنِيْئًا لَّكَ ثُمَّ هَنِيْئًا لَّكَ مِنْ وَّلَدٍ هُوَ الْمُرْتَضٰى مِنْ رَسُوْلٍ وَّ اَخُ الرَّسُوْلِ وَ زَوْجُ الْبَتُوْلِ وَ سَيْفُ اللهِ الْمَسْلُوْلُ هَنِيْئًا لَّكَ ثُمَّ هَنِيْئًا لَّكَ مِنْ وَّلَدٍ هُوَ مِنْ مُّحَمَّدٍ الْمُصْطَفٰى بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُوْنَ مِنْ مُوْسٰى هَنِيْئًا لَّكَ مِنْ وَّلَدٍ هُوَ شَرِيْكُ النُّبُوَّةِ وَ الْمَخْصُوْصُ بِا لْاُخُوَّةِ وَ كَاشِفُ الْغُمَّةِ وَ اِمَامُ الْاُمَّةِ وَ اَبُوْ الْاَئِمَّةِ هَنِيْئًا لَّكَ مِنْ وَّ لَدٍ هُوَ قَسِيْمُ الْجَنَّةِ وَ النَّارِ وَ نِعْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَى الْاَبْرَارِ وَ نَقِمَةُ اللهِ عَلَى الْفُجَّارِ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلَيْهِمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
  7. Assalam O Alaikum, Wa rehmatullah, Wa Barakatuhu, Love, respect and care of Ahlebait is part of our belief as it is mentioned in several authentic ahadith, specially in hadith of Ghadir e Khum. But what is the LITMUS TEST for this? What is the major sign of true lover of Ahlebait? Book: Uyun Akhbar Reza a.s, Author: Shaikh Sadooq, Chapter 58: (Total 11 narrations) Source: https://www.al-islam.org/uyun-akhbar-ar-ridha-volume-2-shaykh-saduq/chapter-58-what-ar-ridha-told-his-brother-zayd-ibn-musa Narration #1 58-1 Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Sinani narrated that Muhammad ibn Abi Abdullah al-Kufi quoted on the authority of Abul Faydh Salih ibn Ahmad, on the authority of Sahl ibn Ziyad, on the authority of Saleh ibn Abi Hammad, on the authority of Al-Hassan ibn Musa ibn al-Vosha’ al-Baghdadi, “I was with Ali ibn Musa Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) in his meeting in Khorasan where Zayd ibn Musa (Imam Ar-Ridha’’s brother) was present and was haughty with those present saying that we (meaning the offspring of Imam Musa Al-Kazim (a.s.)) are such and such. Abul Hassan Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) who was talking to others heard what Zayd had said. He (a.s.) faced him and said, ‘O Zayd! Have the words of the narrators from Kufa made you so proud when they say, ‘(The Blessed Lady) Fatima (a.s.) maintained her chastity, thus God has forbidden the Fire from touching her progeny.’ By God, this holds true only for Al-Hassan (a.s.), Al-Husayn (a.s.) and Fatima’s (a.s.) own especial offspring. However, if it were the case that your father Musa ibn Ja’far (a.s.) obeyed God, fasted in the daytime and worshipped God at night, but you disobey God and claim to be equal with him (Musa ibn Ja’far (a.s.)) in the Hereafter on the Resurrection Day, this would imply that you are dearer than him (Musa ibn Ja’far (a.s.)) in the sight of God. In fact, Ali ibn Al-Husayn (a.s.) said, ‘There are double rewards for the good-doers from amongst us, and there are double chastisements for the evil-doers from amongst us.’’” Al-Hassan al-Washsha’ added, “Then the Imam (a.s.) turned to us and said, ‘O Hassan! How do you recite the following verse?, ‘He said, ‘O Noah! He is not of thy family: For his conduct is unrighteous.’’ I (Al-Hassan al-Washsha’) answered, ‘Some people read it in such a way as to mean ‘his conduct is unrighteous’ while others read it in such a manner as to mean ‘he has done ill’. Indeed those who read it in the first form are implying that he is not really of the family of Noah and consider someone else to be his father.’ The Imam (a.s.) said, ‘No. Indeed he was truly Noah’s son. However, since he disobeyed God the Honorable the Exalted, God separated him from his father. This is exactly the same situation that holds true for us (the Members of the Holy Household of the Prophet Muhammad (S)). Whichever one of us does not obey God the Honorable the Exalted does not belong to us. O Hassan! If you obey God the Honorable the Exalted, then you are one of us - the Members of the Holy Household.’” Narration #5 58-5 Tamim ibn Abdullah ibn Tamim al-Qurashi - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Abu Ali Ahmad ibn Ali Al-Ansari quoted on the authority of Abi Salt al-Harawi that he had heard Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) quote on the authority of his father (a.s.) that Isma’il asked his father As-Sadiq (a.s.), ‘O father! What is your opinion about a sinner from our family or one not from our family?’ As-Sadiq (a.s.) replied, ‘Neither your desires, nor those of the People of the Book (can prevail): whoever works evil, will be requited accordingly...’” [Quran 4:123] Some important facts from above narrations. 1. They were mainly people of Kufa who twisted, changed and fabricated narrations on the name of Ahlebait. 2. Fire is forbidden only for Fatima's s.a own children i.e Hassan a.s and Hussain a.s, while all others from progeny of both Hassan a.s and Hussain a.s have to earn it through obedience to Allah. 3. There is double reward for members of Ahlebait if they do good, and double punishment if they commit anything wrong. 4. Love or relation with Ahlebait will help and benefit only when there is obedience to Allah. 5. Whoever commits any sin will be requited accordingly, regardless of whether he/she is from Ahlebait or not. 6. Anyone from offsprings of Hassan a.s and Hussain a.s if obey Allah, he/she will be part of Ahlebait, otherwise not. 7. Similarly, if anyone from amongst the believers obeys Allah, then he/she is also a part of Ahlebait. Based on the above factual points from authentic narrations the Litmus Test or the major sign of a true lover of Ahlebayt is the obedience to Allah. And the love or relation with Ahlebait will help and benefit only if there is obedience to Allah. And some of the main obligations or duties that Muslims owe to Allah are mentioned here. They take visitation of shrines of holy personalities (a.s.) – Ziyarat as a sign of polytheism and are quick to level allegations of polytheism and disbelief against the Shias. Reply The charge of these so-called Muslims is similar to the claims of the polytheists who accuse Muslims of idolatry for visiting the Holy Kaaba and perform its circumambulation (tawaaf). Such accusations are baseless and only go on to show that these Muslims have no understanding of true monotheism and polytheism. They issue edicts of disbelief based on their narrow and inaccurate interpretation of Islam. Had they been present in the time of Prophet Adam (a.s.) and Prophet Yaqoob (a.s.) they would have condemned both the divine Prophets (a.s.) for prostrating to other than Allah! Sayyid Sharaf al-Deen, a famous Shia scholar and author of such books as ‘Al-Muraajeaat’ and ‘Al Nass wa al-Ijtehaad’, went on pilgrimage to the Holy Kaaba during the time of King Abdul Aziz b. Saud. He was among the scholars invited to the King’s palace to celebrate Eid al-Azha in accordance with the customs there. When his turn came to shake the King’s s hand, Sayyid Sharaf al-Deen presented him with a leather-bound Holy Quran. The King took the Book of Allah, placed it on his forehead and kissed it in reverence. Sayyid Sharaf al-Deen asked, “O King! Why do you kiss and revere the cover which is only made out of goat’s skin?” The King answered, “I meant to revere the Holy Quran, not the goat’s skin.” Sayyid Sharaf al-Deen replied, “You are right, O King! We do the same when we kiss the window or the door of the Holy Prophet’s (s.a.w.a.) chamber. We know it is made of iron and cannot harm or render a benefit but our reverence is directed behind the iron and wood. We intend to glorify the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) in the same way as you meant with the Holy Quran when you kissed the goat’s skin cover.” Impressed by the Sayyid’s argument, the audience exclaimed, “You are right!” The King was forced to allow the pilgrims to ask for blessings from the Holy Prophet’s (s.a.w.a.) relics, until the order was reversed by the successor of that king.
