Salaam, Can someone please shed some light on the Adl of Sahaba concept my sunni brothers have? My understanding is that anyone who saw the Prophet even for a millisecond while being a Muslim and died a Muslim is a sahabi. Immediately after laying eyes upon the Prophet, Allah instills a sense of adl in them to make them perfectly righteous to where they can do no wrong. Is this correct?

Salaam alaikum all, I have a theological question regarding the lutf (grace) of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى. I notice in a lot of Shi'i theological books and websites that the grace of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى is described as being obligatory/binding upon Him to guide mankind. This belief ties in with Adalat and Imamate, in that Allah would never leave the world without an Imam, nor would he ever command someone to do something unjust. My question is: Does placing an obligation on Allah conflict with the principle of Tawhid - that is Allah being free and independent of any need? Surely theoretically Allah could do whatever He likes, as He is truly independent of all needs, He may set a way (sunnah of Allah) for us in terms of good and evil in this world , but this quite different from him being OBLIGATED to do this - if you understand my point? I understand the Ashari (Sunni theological school) position is roughly like this although perhaps I am misunderstanding the Imamiyyah position? Has anybody studied this at great length or in the hawza to be able to provide me with some direction? Thanks and jazakallah all in advance Ali

Salam, As Muslims we all believe that Allah is Just but I have often heard Islamic scholars say that it is part of Islamic philosophy and logic that a god must be just. I do understand the logic behind the existence of god; why he must exist -- but how can we logically prove that a god must be just as well ?

Brothers and sisters, salam alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakato. Coming from another forum, I've come across a certain questions that people never get the hang of so I thought this was the place. When it comes to disabled people(genetically), as in someone who has downs syndrome from their birth, is this through predestination or free will? I think the answer is the same for, is it predestination or free will when we are born into different families all around the world, some born into extravagant families and some into poverty and war. Jazak Allah Khayr
