Relationship b/w Salafi and Shia groups in Britain
Guest posted a topic in General Islamic Discussion
As-Salam-u-Alaikum everyone, I am currently a Masters by Research student studying the relationship between Sunni and Shia groups in Britain, my research is completely unbiased with no political or religious agenda whatsoever. I myself come from a mixed religious and cultural background and contradicting opinions on religion have been part of my upbringing, as such I very much appreciate a healthy debate. I have focussed on the relationship between Salafi and Shia groups in Britain and how that relationship has potentially evolved since the initial emergence of Salafism in Britain in the -
Salam, I am a first year law student in Brighton, UK from Toronto, Canada. Coming from a city and family where azadari is a big part of my life. If anyone knows of any helpful information with regards to shias in Brighton, UK, please let me know. I have looked everywhere for a shia mosque or household that holds majlis but haven't come across anything. As Muharram is fast approaching, I really need to figure this out ASAP because commuting to London for majalis everyday is not convenient or cheap. Please reply if you know anyone that can be of help or you know a shia family i

Salams to All, Does Shiachat have any user/ member from Leeds in UK who could tell me more about the Shia population in that area? Someone I know would be travelling and staying in Leeds for about a year. Assalamu Alaykum I was treated very badly by a major UK supermarket. To see more of my story, to help me and to find out which UK supermarket I am referring to, please see this link where you can watch a very short video (1:46 minutes long) and fill in a short form (less than one minute). Please fill in this form and share it with your UK contacts. http://informationpi.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/supermarket.html In a nutshell, my story is that the supermarket appears to have destroyed evidence that would have proven that it breached my contract and that it has made claims to have addressed

Salam, I have taken an interest in the Shia way of Islam and learning about it has brought back my faith (I come from a Sunni background). However, in the process I feel a bit lost and don't know where to turn, it would be nice to meet some sisters so I have some guidance on some of my questions. I have gone to some gatherings but they are mainly in Farsi, and I feel very left out attending! Are there any other sisters in London facing the same thing? Thank you

Half-masting of flags following the death of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, King of Saudi Arabia Half-masting instructions It is with great regret that we learn of the death of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, King of Saudi Arabia. I have to ask. When I talk about some Afghan shias who live in the west. When I ask them about their opinion on Islamic countries they feel upset because many Afghans who fled Afghanistan travelled to the west because of its welfare system and they say that they would have preferred to remain in an Islamic country but no Islamic country offered them citizenship or welfare and as a result they feel Islamic countries are not as Islamic as the non Islamic EU, UK, Australia or US, in terms of its humanitarian causes. While I myself have never seen any other Islamic country besides Afghanistan I

Turns out there is a small family who run programs on thursday nights - whilst that is nice and does feel like I get some connection to a mosque, I was wondering if there were any youths around the age of twenty or slightly older who were also in Gloucester? It would be nice to meet/hang out/socialise every once in a while. Please get in touch Wasaalaam

I am not an expert on beauty things, as I considered men who looked after themselves as "gay" when I was a kid, now I have had a change of mind and would like to take care of myself better. However I do not know how to do this. I have searched the internet for different solutions, but couldn't find satisfying results. I also don't know anything about beauty products, so need you brothers and sisters to help. So please don't tell me to contact my marja. I live in the UK btw, this is relevant when it comes to products. I will start with hair: Recommend to me a good shampoo and conditioner

Sandhurst's sheikhs: Why do so many Gulf royals receive military training in the UK? Generations of foreign royals - particularly from the Middle East - have learned to be military leaders at the UK's Sandhurst officer training academy. But is that still a good idea, asks Matthew Teller. Since 1812, the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, on the Surrey/Berkshire border, has been where the British Army trains its officers. It has a gruelling 44-week course testing the physical and intellectual skills of officer cadets and imbuing them with the values of the British Army. Alongside would-be
