This letter no. 58, just provides a little information to his people about Siffin those were scattered in various regions and they have already given bayah to imam Ali (عليه السلام). How do you expect that this little piece of advice / explanation should have every basic principle of Shia creed (true followers) of Imam Ali (عليه السلام). in that single paper? Such a silly comment is not expected from any mindful person. 2. There are about 12 Nos. of sermons and 04 Nos. of Letters in Nehjul balagah for the events that mentions the Siffieen battle. I will just mention some summarized contents from some of those with relevant reference to explain my view before I can arrive at a certain point of view & conclusion: 3. For the basic Usul and Principles of Religion for 12vers hadith book Al-kafi was written about 70 years at least before the Nehjul balagah was compiled. There are many hadith describing the verses of quran both in shia and sunni sources that mention the hadith of Ghadeer and Ali bin abi talib being selected Imam and Caliph after the prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). Do you like to deny all those verses of quran and relevant hadith? 4. Moreover there has been lot of discussions on the topic of Ghadeer and hadith for Imam Al (عليه السلام) appointment as caliph at SC. All these details are certain on the basis of verses of quran and hadith of the prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), every careful can read those to realize the intensity of truth. 5. For the event of Siffin battle the following extract from the relevant sermons and letters is presented below: Letter No. 58 paragraphs: The whole thing began thus that we and the Syrians met in an encounter although we believe in one and the same Allah and the same Prophet, and our message in Islam is the same. We did not want them to add anything in the belief in Allah or in acknowledging His Messenger (Allah bless him and his descendants) nor did they want us to add any such thing. In fact, there was complete unity except that we differed on the question of `Uthman's blood while we were free of responsibility for it. We suggested to them to appease the situation by calming the temporary irritation and pacifying the people till matters settled down and stabilized when we would gain strength to put matters right. They however said that they would settle it by war. Thus, they refused our offer and consequently war spread its wings and came to stay. Its flames rose and became strong. When the war had bitten us as well as them and pierced its talons into us as well as them, they accepted what we had proposed to them. So, we agreed to what they suggested and hastened to meet their request. In this way, the plea became clear to them and no excuse was left to them. Now, whoever among them adheres to this will be saved by Allah from ruin, and whoever shows obstinacy and insistence (on wrong) is the reverser whose heart has been blinded by Allah and evils will encircle his head.” The words of Imam Ali (عليه السلام) are very clear about those who like to settle the matter by war. This is purely an academic discussion and not meant to offend anyone. I am trying to draw parallels between 4 different islamic civil wars (battles). Ridda Wars - Apostasy Wars under the reign of Caliph Abu Bakr against those either stopped being Muslims or refused to acknowledge the leadership of Abu Bakr. Battle of Jamal: Caliph Ali (عليه السلام) against Aisha, Talha, Zubayr and others Battle of Siffin: Caliph Ali (عليه السلام) against Muawiya Battle of Karbala: Yazid against Imam Hussain (عليه السلام) @Cherub786 stated: The justification for Ridda (Apostasy) Wars was the rebels were challenging the writ of the State. Based on the above, we can all agree that challenging the writ of the State is rebellion and not only is it a rebellion but the rebels can be labelled apostates because that is what the Caliphate chose to call them. Q1) Based on the agreement above (blue), can we then assume the Aisha, Talha, Zubayr and other prominent 'sahaba' were apostates? Did they not rebel against Caliph Ali and challenged the writ of the State? Q2) Based on the above agreement (blue), can we assume that Muawiya was an apostate for challenging the writ of the State? Q3) Imam Hussain (عليه السلام) did not challenge the writ of the State directly but isn't not paying allegiance also an act of challenging the writ of the State? Some of the tribes in Ridda Wars were massacred simply for not paying allegiance to Abu Bakr so Yazid had a precedent set before him. Doesn't that justify that Yazid was right in going after Hussain and crushing the rebellion? Based on the agreement, does challenging the writ of the State make Imam Hussain (عليه السلام) an apostate (istagfirullah)? Q4) How are the actions of Yazid different from the actions of Caliph Abu Bakr? Please know that this is a serious academic discussion and not intended to hurt anyone's feelings.

Assalam o Alaikum Brothers and Sister I am new to this group and im Sunni from Peshawar belonging to Hanfi maslak, but in recent past i have started reading ahadees by myself so came through various strange ahadees from sahee muslim and Sahee Bukhari and various conclusions i made. I see many sunnis in this forum, i would like Sunnis to respond to this post Siffin view of Sunni Most of our scholars (not all) says that this battle was between two groups of sahaba and no one can be called as wrong as both maavia ra and Ali ra were mujtahideen and their intent were not bad Let me Quotes a hadeees here صحیح مسلم حدیث6968ںبی اکرمﷺ نے فرمایا '' اللہ تعالیٰ عمار بن یاسر پر رحم کرے۔ اسے ایک باغی جماعت قتل کرےگی۔ وہ اس باغی جماعت کو اللہ کی طرف بلا رہا ہوگا، جبکہ وہ باغی جماعت اسے جہنم کی آگ کی طرف بلا رہے ہوگے۔ I ask, should we follow our molvis and should we follow imam e Azam Hazrat Muhammad Saww.. Doesnt this hadees clearly states that Group of Maavia was a rebel group, did rebellion against a Khaleefa e rashid.. Thanks Dr Nasir Ali

Did Abu Huraira fought against Maula Ali (A.S) in battle of siffin?. And which other companions stood against Maula Ali (A.S) in this battle?

Imam Ali (as) fought valiantly in a number of battles. Which ONE would you like to observe if you could?

(BISMILLAH) (Salam) I hope you are all in the best of health and Iman. When we look at the events surrounding Siffin and the events resulting from it, such as the creation of the Kharjites and the subsequent battle of Naharwan, we that a lot of the people who left the Imam's side were not necessarily evil but were simply fooled by Ibn Aas. For example, when I was younger and had for the first time come across the Imam's history in the series made about him, when his camp started panicking because Ibn Aas has spread rumours that he would divert the flow of the Euphrates, I actually believed it! I was neither in the war nor was I opposed to the Imam (I was barely old enough to understand this stuff) but, if I was, at that time, one of his camp, I would have probably run away like those guys. The same was true for a lot of the people who accepted arbitration: they simply weren't clever enough to see through Ibn Aas' rouse. Many of the Kharjites, too, were not bad people. They were not out for personal gain or to profit and in fact had a very ascetic lifestyle but because they were not clever enough and hypocritical, they became the worst of the Imam's enemies, despite probably having good intentions and only wanting to please God. Now, if we believe that non-Muslims who have good intentions and tried their best to find the right religion but were, for whatever reason, unable to come to accept Islam as the right religion will also be accepted into Heaven, what about people like the Kharjites? Given that I can't exactly control how intelligent I am and if I will be able to see through another person's deceit, is it possible that they will also be forgiven?

sunnis say that all sahaba are in janna how is this possible? what about the hypocrits ? u say talha,zubair,muawiya are in janna along with imam ali (as) i really dont understand what type of heaven is it then :no: what is your stand on hinda (who ate the liver of hamza in uhud) abu sufyan (leader of meccans in badr,ohud,khandaq) muawiya (siffin,nahrawan,killing of ammar ibn yasir (ra),breaking the treaty with imam hasan (as) ) talha and zubair (jamal) ayesha (jamal) umar (attacking bibi fatima al zahra (as) ) .... . . . .
