  1. As salamu alaykum Ya Ali (عليه السلام) Madad My husband don't want me to get pregnant so Im taking medecines to not get pregnant since 1 year, but I want to. So if I stop taking it without telling him, is it ghunnah ? I know I will get pregnant he will be happy but he says that he is not ready, but I reallywant to and if I tell to him he will never be agree. What should I do ? And is it ghunnah ? Ps: We don’t have any child.
  2. Hi, I'm in need of some advice please. Please do not judge me. I understand that my situation is my fault and I accept this. I'm happy with my choice of going ahead with my pregnancy, however im really undecided on what to do next. I'm not a bad person and I dont want to break a family apart but I am feeling very sad for my unborn child. I met a shia Muslim man 3 years ago (Im not muslim). Things between us never really worked out and I was always kept a secret whilst he was living two different lives. Hes not married and lives with his parents still. Since being pregnant he has expressed that he wants nothing to do with me or his baby. I'm trying to accept this and move on for my baby, however it is becoming very difficult. He has not told any of his family and I dont think that he has any intention in doing so. I have promised I would not tell his family also. He has offered to help financially but said he will not be present in the babys life because he "cant". I dont know much about his family, all I know is that his father is a maulana. I'm asking for advice as to what I should do next. Is the right thing to do by telling his parents that they are going to have a grandchild? Will they understand or will they want this kept a secret also? Or do I simply move on and face the day my child asks me about his father and his family? The last thing I want to do is tear a family apart but I also feel so bad on my unborn child. He is going to miss out on a family who could love him just as much as I do. Thank you

  5. The news today is that no amount of alcohol during pregnancy is safe. Prenatal exposure to alcohol may cause problems for the child that show up when they are a teenager. From the American Academy of Pediatrics Clinical Report Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Janet F. Williams, MD, FAAP, Vincent C. Smith, MD, MPH, FAAP, the COMMITTEE ON SUBSTANCE ABUSE ABSTRACT Prenatal exposure to alcohol can damage the developing fetus and is the leading preventable cause of birth defects and intellectual and neurodevelopmental disabilities. In 1973, fetal alcohol syndrome was first described as a specific cluster of birth defects resulting from alcohol exposure in utero. Subsequently, research unequivocally revealed that prenatal alcohol exposure causes a broad range of adverse developmental effects. Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) is the general term that encompasses the range of adverse effects associated with prenatal alcohol exposure. The diagnostic criteria for fetal alcohol syndrome are specific, and comprehensive efforts are ongoing to establish definitive criteria for diagnosing the other FASDs. A large and growing body of research has led to evidence-based FASD education of professionals and the public, broader prevention initiatives, and recommended treatment approaches based on the following premises: ▪ Alcohol-related birth defects and developmental disabilities are completely preventable when pregnant women abstain from alcohol use. ▪ Neurocognitive and behavioral problems resulting from prenatal alcohol exposure are lifelong. ▪ Early recognition, diagnosis, and therapy for any condition along the FASD continuum can result in improved outcomes. ▪ During pregnancy: ◦no amount of alcohol intake should be considered safe; ◦there is no safe trimester to drink alcohol; ◦all forms of alcohol, such as beer, wine, and liquor, pose similar risk; and ◦binge drinking poses dose-related risk to the developing fetus. http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/early/2015/10/13/peds.2015-3113
  6. Salam, I really want to know if the occurence of any eclipse have an impact on the foetus/ unborn baby or not. This is a long held belief in the Indian subcontinent that if a pregnant lady lies in a certain position or holds a knife while the eclipse is on then she is prone to give birth to a child with cleft lips or some other deformity. I personally don't believe in such things but recently one of my very learned friend expressed her belief into such a phenomenon because she has had children in her extended family 'suffering' due to the lack of their mothers' precaution at the time of eclipse. I have had a not-so-good argument with her on this so I really want the knowledgeable SC members to please enlighten us about the truth. There's no problem if I'm proven wrong or that I want her to accept her defeat, all that I'm posting here is that the truth must be known. Please tell me if there's such a thing in our ahadith where we women have been warned of the impacts of eclipse on our unborn babies or if this is sheer superstition, then kindly tell me how can one explain to those who believe in such a thing? And lastly, do we have the pray Salat-al-ayaat if the eclipse doesn't occur in our country or is it that we pray this salat irrespective of the place of the eclipse? Thanks much in advance!
  7. My dear fellow Muslims, i have a question regarding what one should do if one gets a female (Non-Muslim) pregnant outside of marriage (even without Muta).. Does the child need to be aborted? Does the father leave? Is the child raised according to the mothers faith? Do I marry the female? By the way i am only asking because it is a genuine question that i have wondered.
  8. I met a brother years ago before converting to Islam. He is the person that introduced me to Islam but I also wanted to speak to other converts and make friendships with other sisters who could give me advice on topics I wasn't comfortable speaking to him about. He spoke to me about mut'a before I converted and that's how we kept our relationship for a span of 3 years with a break in between. During the time we were not together I knew he was with another sister but it didn't last long, only a couple of months, when he started speaking to me again, I still hadn't taken my shahada but I had grown increasingly interested in Islam. At this time after asking many questions I did take the next step and took my shahada after a couple of months, almost a year. Although I did stick around for so long with mut'a being the only thing that defined our relationship, I felt like I needed to know from him if he saw a future with me I asked him to be honest with me or to release me of the time we had left in mut'a if he didn't want something serious with me because I deserved to have the love and protection of a husband through nikkah. He didn't want to at first but I told him he needed to let me move on if he couldn't commit. I thought the reason for his action was because I am hispanic and a convert and maybe his parents wouldn't approve. We kept in touch and he would say nothing was wrong with the way things were before that we could do mut'a again. I declined but I found out I was pregnant later. At this time he was already speaking to the sister he had been with in the past about nikkah. When I told him about the pregnancy he said he couldn't do anything about it. Now I don't know how to go about getting him to admit to his child as we were in mut'a and he is responsible for it. I don't want to make him feel forced or just out him to the community or his family. But I don't know how to make him see straight and step up. Any advice?
