  1. I have made a comment to a discussion thread a few weeks back but my comment still shows the message "your comment needs to be approved by the moderator". I wanted to ask that in these situations who do I contact if my comment is pending mod approval for many days? I can't message the mods at the moment since I am a basic member I have tried to find for a discussion thread that talks about this topic but couldn't seem to find one. If anyone has any useful resources that they can share that would be great. Also, apologies if this is a really basic/simple question. I am new to the site and am trying to understand how everything works.
  2. Salam Aleykum, my name is Mirzev. I'm an Azerbaijani Shia Twelver Muslim who follows Marja Imam Khamenei, I am inspired by the works of Ali Shariati and Imam Khomeini among others. I am also inspired by political Shia movements such as the Yellow Angels or Ansarallah in their fight against oppression and injustice. I decided to get on this website. I was recommended it by a sister that used to use it and I thought I'd join to strengthen my knowledge of the deen and perhaps help others as well. In the future I want to be a soldier for the deen as well Alhamdulilah thank you everyone for reading.
  3. Just a quick one really. I am planning on attending Bayt Al-Qaim Islamic Centre, it will be the first time I have been to a Shi'a led mosque. I am very nervous, not just out of fear of being stared at (I get this at Sunni led mosques either way), but because even though I have watched numerous videos of prayer led by ayatollahs for example, I still feel unsure of what to expect! On the prayer times it has noon 1:11pm, then nothing until sunset. What happens after zuhr prayer, does asr pray commence shortly after? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Assalam alaikum dear brothers and sisters and may the blessings and mercy of Allah be upon you all. I saw another user make an introduction, so I thought I would too. I came to Islam as the light at the end of the tunnel and attended the only mosque in my Welsh county, slotting by default into hanafi ideology. I moved to a England and to larger Muslim and mostly Indian/Pakistani community after marriage. Despite members of the Welsh community telling me that the community in this English city was better, it became quite clear, quite quickly that they weren't right. Increasingly isolated by both the community and the hanafi school, particularly hadiths, increasingly ashamed by terrorist attacks and sectarianism, after three years as a Muslim I felt at conflict with myself. I really struggled as I felt between two cultures, the culture of Islam and the culture as a British white man, and I didn't slot into either. I came to this religion because I saw inclusion of the Abrahamic narrative, inclusion of white people, people from Asia, Africa and elsewhere, I saw Islam as the final message of God, one of salvation, hope and solace. I did not see these things being practiced. I grew up respecting people of all faiths and views, and I hold that stance to this day. Muslims are Muslims, I see beyond the sects, if you love Allah and His messenger and you uphold the principal of peace, charity, kindness and so on, then who am I to hate you or be a takfiri on you!? I attended a salafi mosque on Ashura, because it was the only one that did English sermons, I saw a congregation humiliate a student (who I assume was Iranian by his accent) for asking why nobody mentions Hussain on such a day. I also saw brothers stand up and defend a man who had been arrested and later charged for trying to buy firearms for terrorism in a sting operation on a separate day. I myself had been targeted for not doing footsy during prayer with the person next to me. I continued to see this idiotic approach to people who follow the Ahlul Bayt, it trickles down from adults to kids, my nephew said that Shi'ites worship Ali, astaghfirullah. He said his friend at school told him. I corrected him. I used to have an Instagram account where I posted lessons and tidbits that might inspire people to be peaceful and good, I had even aspired to train to become an Imam and open a mosque, it would have been, to my knowledge, the first to feature a prayer room where women prayed behind men and not closed off in a tiny 2nd class room upstairs. It would be one of only a few where management would have not been of one school of thought, but many, where women would play an important role and where counselling services would take place for domestic violence and mental health... All sounds great, but because of my own mental health, I did not feel I could take on such a task. What did come out of Instagram was that I was responsible for reporting somewhere between 30-50 Daesh inspired or far right inspired profiles which as a result were removed, alhamdulillah. Anyway, for a long time I felt unhappy, with people, with the thought that people churn out such nonsense, whether it is about people or even things like hadiths. Andwe are expected to just take it all as gospel because an Imam said it, a sheikh said it, a pillar of the community said it. I started following the maliki maddhab, but now I don't adhere to any ideology as such. People might erroneously say I cherry pick, but picking the truth isn't always the easy option, so I hardly call that cherry picking. I seek truth and logic according the the Qur'an and if that comes from Ammar Nakshawani, so be it, if it comes from Abdal Hakim Murad, so be it. So why am I on Shiachat? Because first of all I want to meet like minded people in my area, and second of all, because I respect you and care for you as fellow Muslims. I just can't live a life spewing hate, teaching my children to hate and expect the world to be a better place for it. It does nothing here on Earth and it does nothing up there in Jannah either. Apologies for the novel, but at least I used paragraphs hey! Oh Lord send Your peace and blessings upon Muhammad and his family. May You always be pleased with us, keep us firm upon your truth and your religion. May we be standing together and may you always allow the light, wisdom and intellect to exist in this world so that we learn to love and put down our hatred, as although we are different people with different opinions and of differing backgrounds, we are all in need of Your light, all in need of Your mercy and all in need of Your pleasure with us. Forgive us all for what we say and do, what You know but we don't of the things we do to displease You. Oh Lord, send Your peace and blessings upon Muhammad and His family.
  5. As-salaamu 'aleikum, I reverted to Shia Islam 1 year ago and wanted to ask if someone could list me highly recommended Prayers and Duas, their times when to be prayed, and location, etc. For example: I want to know good daily prayers like the prayers on Friday. I don't know anything about these. Or special actions that should be done on special days of the week. You know... just give me everything you know and are sure about ^^ I'm gonna list the things i have learned so far, or I'm learning, or i know that i want to learn. Just so that it is not repeated. I know the benefits and times of recitation for the following prayers: - 5 daily Prayers, Salat al Layl, Ayat al Kursi, Dua Imam e Zaman, Dua al-Ma'rifa-tul-Imam, Dua al-Ghareeq, Dua al-Ahd, Dua al-Nudba, Thank you very much for your help. Please also state good literature for a beginner (hadith, other books) The GOAL for me is to build a SOLID BASIS, a steadfast and consistent level of iman, because i had problems with that (flactuations). I need a good routine of Prayer, Dua, Deeds, Actions etc. Please don't state the obvious like: Reading the holy Book, or saying Takbir ( xxx times a day), etc. That is what I'm trying to achieve anyways. Thank you! May God bless you and give you the same reward for every word i recite or read.
  6. Salam my dear brothers and sisters, I just thought I would take this opportunity to share with you a beautiful new Ramadan nasheed. If you like it then share it with family and friends. It's in Arabic but with English translations. I wish you all a happy and blessed ramadan.

  8. Any country that is not under the American government regime, is either under attack, framed, or in a war. Any country that is under the dictatorship may have an artificial boost of economy, and may have some sort of security(which is ironic as they make global terror and terrorists) - but all in exchange of a psychological & soft warfare declared on its citizens, by the billions of dollars governments spend, on order to keep citizens weak and asleep to the reality of the world. The way they achieved all these puppets through almost every government in the world is through colonialism. They did not split and divide the world for nothing - then leave it like that. They instilled corrupt governments for every place to inject their propaganda by the engineers - that seek how to change and shape the world and the people as they like with bad intentions. But of course they plan and Allah Swt plans and Allah Swt is the best of planners - as the Holy Quran al Kareem says. This is just one of the many reasons why Sayed Ali Khamenei (Ha) calls America "the great satan". ‏اللهم صل على محمد وال محمد Thank God we have a good leader like Ayatullah Khamenei (Ha).

  10. اسلام عليكم I've been living in an area where I don't have to think about where to get my halal meat from.. I moved to Florida recently and I've been a vegetarian because I don't know a trusted butcher shop. I live in the Fort Lauderdale area and I need a trusted halal butcher shop. I don't care if I have to drive for hours. Thank you all.

  12. can you give me both the shia and sunni view on this matter ! he 40 years old and he told me that he wanted to convert to islam , so I took him to local masjid , and I became witness on his conversion , but he still doesn't know much about wuduu & salah , so I show him videos and explained to him . I will still teach him about fasting and ramadan soon but their is problem he was ex-christian so I think he wasn't circumcised so is his salah accepted or is he still not true muslim yet ? I don't know if I should tell him about it , is it important !?
  13. I am new to this forum, I am sunni, but am considering joining shia islam, i am just wondering if sunnis are allowed on this forum or if this is exclusively for shias.....
  14. My name is Carol, and I belong to a Christian family. I've always disliked the way the Christians taught about God, and became an Atheist about a year and a half ago. But I've always been drawn to Islam, and my lover has given me the little push I needed to start learning about it. He can't answer all my questions, as we live half a world apart right now, so I'm looking for others who can teach me what I need to know before officially becoming Muslim. I can learn most things by myself, but I need some suggestions on what to research and learn about before making my decision. Thanks in advance.
  15. Salam Alaikoum, I would like to give a brief history on my situation before seeking assistance. I am a shi'i muslim born, but my parents weren't practicing muslims and didn't teach me the steps for prayers. We were living in a sunni muslim country early in my life. I learned the steps for prayers the sunni way back then. However, in my early teen age year, we moved to another country with no islamic teaching in school. All these things, in addition to laziness by me, has led me to not pray. So currently I am in my mid 20s and I decided to start praying. Most guides state extra optional things to do before and during prayers. I don't wish to do the extra optional things at this stage. So my understanding is that these are the compulsory steps. Ghusl: 1- Immerse whole body in water (Does a bath in the bathroom work?) OR 1- clean every najasat (semen) 2- Wash head to neck 3- Wash right side of body from shoulder to foot 4- Wash left side of body from shoulder to foot Wudu: 1- Niyya: I am seeking closeness to Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì 2- Wash face completely from forehead to chin using right hand 3- Wash right arm completely from elbow to finger-tips using left hand 4- Wash left arm completely from elbow to finger-tips using right hand Don't use extra water after here 5- Use right hand to wash from the top of your head till just before forehead 6- Use right hand to wash your right foot from toe-tips till ankle 7- Use left hand to wash your left foot from toe-tips till ankle Does any marjeh allow shower without wudu? Prayer: I- Rakah 1: 1- Niyya: I offer this [prayer-name] prayer [number-of-rak3at] rak3at seeking closeness to Allah 2- Stand. Lift hand to ear. AllahuAkbar 3- Arms down say Fatiha then Ikhlas 4- AllahuAkbar 5- Ruku3. Subahana rabiya al 3azeem wa bihamdih 6- Stand. Sami3a Allah li man hamida. AllahuAkbar 7- Sujud. Subhana rabiya al A3la wa bihamdih 8- Sit. AllahuAkbar 9- Repeat 7 and 8 II: Rakah 2: 1- Repeat step 2-9 from Rakah 1 2- Tashahud 3- In Fajr only: Finishing III: Rakah 3: 1- Repeat step 2-9 from Rakah 1 but in step 3 no Ikhlas. 2- In Maghrib only: Tashahud + Finishing IV: Rakah 4: 1- Repeat step 2-9 from Rakah 1 but in step 3 no Ikhlas. 2- Tashahud + Finishing #Tashahud: 1- Ashhadu ana la illaha ila Allah wahdahoo la sharika lahoo. 2- Ashhdu ana mohamadan abduhu wa Rasoolahu. 3- Allahuma Salli 3ala Mohamad w 3ala alee Mohamad. #Finishing: 1- Assalamu 3alayka ayuhu al nabiyo wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh 2- Assalamu 3alayna wa 3ala 3ibadi Allah saleheen 3- Assalamu Alaykom wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu If i want to do missed prayers, do I have to say anything extra? Also do I have to do the missed prayer at the same timeslot of the actual prayer or at anytime? I would like from anyone to check if there is any mistake in them and answer the extra questions I have asked. Please make sure that I didn't miss any compulsory oral or physical action. Thank you
  16. Salam All! I'm going to be starting work in August and would like to find some Muslim roommates to share an apartment with. Is anyone in the area/will be moving and will need a place to stay?
  17. I am new to this website and I love it here. However, I have this little issue where if I open "My Content", there is no content shown. I currently only have one topic (excluding this one). Could this have anything to do with the restriction imposed on new comers for 10 posts?
  18. (salam) I have been trying for over two years now to grasp Standard 'Arabic fluently. I have purchased a few books (namely Living Language) to practice, but I just cannot seem to get the hang of it. Would any of those who have had to learn a new language share how I can make this easier upon myself? I am a native Urdu/Punjabi speaker and as you can see, fluent in English as well. I have had interest in 'Arabic for quite some time, so I would appreciate any suggestions. (wasalam)
  19. As'salamu Alaykum, brothers and sisters of the Ummah.., My name is David, I am 32 years old and I currently live in the USA (Detroit, MI.) Like most Americans, I was raised in a Christian (Roman Catholic) home. I didn't start taking religion seriously until I was about 20. At that time I enrolled in Seminary, to study for the ministry. I learned a lot about the Christian faith, but the more I learned, the more questions and doubts I had. Long story short: I eventually dropped out of Seminary after completing my B.A. in Philosophy. For about 10 years, I was an agnostic. Religion still interested me, and I spent a lot of time reading about and studying the religions of the world; but I had no real beliefs, no faith. Eventually, I came across the Qur'an. The more I learned about Islam, the more I felt like I was coming into contact with the Truth. "This Qur'an is a revelation that is clear to the hearts of those endowed with knowledge." Qur'an 29:49. About a year ago, I took the Shahadah. Alhamdulillah! No one in my family is Muslim, nor did I have any Muslim friends when I converted (reverted) to Islam. Over the past year I have made a few friends at a local Shia Masjid, and I am very thankful for this. So.. I am new to Islam, new to Shia, and new to this forum. I just wanted to introduce myself, and say that I am here to learn as much as possible, and (Insha'Allah) hopefully make some new friends. (When I took the Shahadah, I did so at as Sunni Masjid. A few individuals from a local Sunni outreach program got in touch with me, took me to the Masjid and gave me some literature. They were constantly warning me about the dangers of Shia Islam. But.. given my curious nature, I couldn't help myself. I went to a local Shia Masjid and talked with the Imam. He explained some of the basic differences between Sunni and Shia, and suggested a couple of books for me to read. Since that time I've come to the conclusion, on my own, to embrace Shia Islam.) Like I said... I'm still new, and I have so much to learn. And with your help, perhaps you can help to further my knowledge of the Deen. Thanks for listening. Ma'a Salama! :shifty:
  20. Salam, Is there any hadiths any references or anything the prophet or ahlulbayt used to use regarding incense? Jazakallah.
  21. I am not able to place new post to any topic. What is the reason?
  22. Salaam alaykuum brothers/sisters I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to recommend some free online books and also as I'm new to this website give me a quick walk through as to how it works :)
