  1. Salamunalaikum Certainly something really important I am curious about. Their are many hadith about the qualities of a believer. How do you define a true believer from all those sources? I mean their are many qualities and every person has some of them while lacks the other qualities. (Not quoting narrations assuming that we all have a rough idea about this) One very important specific question is that in Salat al Layl we ask mercy and forgiveness for atleast forty believers. So, who are the people that actually fill the criteria of a believer??? @Mahdavist @ali_fatheroforphans @Ashvazdanghe @313_Waiter @F.M @Sabrejet Rest of the people too. I hope it would be a fruitful discussion.
  2. Could a mentally handicapped person be a Muslim period, i heard in Sunni if your Mentally handicapped or insane your prayers and Shahadah(if you take it in that state), is invalid, is that true in Shia, what is the Shia ruling on this matter?
  3. I made a video recently on how the current content of education material plays a role in the oppression of Shi'a Muslims. I posted the video in General Islamic Discussion before, but just now realised that since it is so focused on Pakistani education, I should post it here. JazakAllah
  4. In the name of Allah, I have made a video touching upon my country's education system and how it effectively contributes to Shi'a oppression. JazakAllah
  5. Salaam, Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) was passed in Indian Parliament. This bill aims to give citizenship to persecuted minorities - Hindu, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist and Christians of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. While this is, without a doubt, a noble act but the problem is that it doesn't include Muslims. Home Minister Amit Shah said that since all three are Muslim countries it is not possible that Muslims can be persecuted there. He 'forgot' Ahmadiyas and Hazaras of Pakistan, other Shias of Bangladesh, Afghanistan. Why are Indian Muslims protesting? CAB in itself is not a problem but when you combine it with NRC you will see discrimination. Assam has one of the highest influx of illegal Bangladeshi Muslim migrants. National Register of Citizens (NRC) was run in Assam, India as a pilot project. It required all Assamese to show land acquisition papers or birth certificate prior to 1971. As a result, many actually belonging to Assam didn't make it to NRC. Although it was scrapped later but ruling party is planning pan India NRC with some modifications. Now if NRC is implemented all over India than many Muslim who doesn't have required documents will be stripped of citizenship. Other communities not having documents can be citizens through CAB. It is to early to say if the bill will truly hurt Muslims. Amit Shah has repeatedly assured Indian Muslims that they shouldn't worry about CAB. I do not trust him. It all depends on what will be the requirements of NRC. PS: Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are Zaalim and hates Muslims. India is taking persecuted minorities of Pakistan so it should be the last country to condemn anything.

  9. Salam! After being with my Shia friends, as well as researching both Sunni and Shia doctrines, I've converted into a Shia Muslim ( I was a Sunni before). It's been three weeks as of today, and its been difficult since I live with my Sunni family. The thing is, I haven't told my family yet. They don't depsie Shias, they are just very pro-Sunni. I know that if I do, I will be disowned and I will get kicked out of my house. What should I do? I know I have to tell them soon, and the truth will come out, because it'll create a lot of problems in the future. There were times were I almost got caught/questioned, and I got to see their reaction to it. Please, any advice would be help. Jazakallah Khair.
  10. Those who deny the hadith of the prophet saww are called hadith rejectors . They consider normally quran sufficient alone to follow for the religion without recognizing the need to follow the sunna ie sayings or actions of the prophet saww. What the other Muslims brothers consider these hadith rejectors? A muslim, hypocrite, kafir, or mis-guided etc? (Whatever is you opinion ,the evidence of it from quran or hadith may be mentioned too for information /discussion, please). Wasalam
  11. So, for a while now I've noticed that ny skin dries up after wudhu and I don't particularly like the feeling and I feel bad for my skin; I avoid using lotion tho cause I've read on some Sunni site that it invalidates your Salah and not your wudhu either. I know it's better to use non alcoholic lotions but it's hard to find and also why shouldn't you use alcohol containing products after wudhu? Is it fine if you wait a little and let the alcohol evaporate (like perfumes for examples)?
  12. https://www.theguardian.com/news/2019/jul/09/most-United Kingdom-news-coverage-of-Muslims-is-negative-major-study-finds Most United Kingdom news coverage of Muslims is negative. Does anybody know if similar studies into US and Australian media have been attempted and what the figures are?
  13. Read the Reddit comments to understand what the thread was about, since the post has since been deleted. ....................................................................................... I'm so tired of the utterly nonsensical and VERY COMMON Sunni notion of 'I am happy to seek unity with Shias as long as they don't curse/insult/abuse any Sahaba, and especially NOT Aisha, Abu Bakr, Omar, Uthman. Firstly, any Shia claim regarding the sahabi that happens to go against the Sunni narrative is considered insulting. Secondly, and more importantly, is that the same notion is true for Shias... You are insulting the Ahlul Bayt by not accepting them as divinely appointed leaders of Allah, and infallible individuals, and perfect preservers of the religion of Islam, and a high means of seeking closeness to Allah (intercession). Not only are you insulting revered Shia figures by not following them, you are commiting MAJOR shirk by giving a false attribute to Allah, by saying that Allah has not always appointed an infallible leader on this Earth, and that there currently isn't an infallible leader. Furthermore, the real kicker is that plenty of revered Shia figures, such as Abu Talib (رضي الله عنه), are considered kuffar by Sunnis. Is this not insulting? So, how can we Shias unite with Sunnis based on their own fallacious logic? Shias are the minority, and Sunnis are the majority. It makes Sunnis think that they are Orthodox and that they have to unite with Heterodox for political and humanitarian reasons, and that Shias must make [ridiculous] compromises. Shias are far more receptive to the unity message, because we actually understand Sunni Islam, and can see the commonalities. We understand that we can't make Sunnis compromise on their beliefs. Simply by being the minority within Islam, by nature we Shias already understand Sunni beliefs, whereas Sunnis have a basic strawman understanding of Shia beliefs... which is natural, considering that they are the majority. Anyways, the point of my post is the following: Let's compile a list of revered Shia figures that are not given their proper status by Sunnis, according to Shia Islam... with an explanation given. ...This is to show that we Shias and Sunnis can unite, but we cannot unite upon revered figures and imamah. ...This will also serve as a way of showing Sunnis that this argument of theirs makes no sense. Another important question we may ask is "What about commonly revered figures like Imam Ali (عليه السلام) who is given different status in both sects? Can we unite upon Imam Ali (عليه السلام)?" ...a common Sunni criticism of political unity is that "Ali ibn Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) is given an improper status in Shia religion because they call upon him... tawassul (intercession) of the 'dead' is Shirk! So there is absolutely no room for unity since we can't even agree on the status of the sahabi" [yes, I am aware that the Imams (عليه السلام) are still alive, but Sunnis don't believe this...] I would love to hear your thoughts. Wassalam. JazakAllah Khair. Fi sabilillah.
  14. Assalamailakium brothers and sisters. I wanted to ask a question regarding a restaurant. There is a restaurant near my area that is owned by Arab Christians, but the meat, according to them, is Zabihah Halal. My marja is Ayatollah Sistani, and I know that according to him, one can eat the food of an Ahle Kitab, but my question is how about if the halal meat is handled by Ahle Kitab. The restaurant in question even has two halal signs, one in Arabic and one in english. Is it haram to eat their or not?
  15. So, I'd like to know how Shia women pray and how it differs from men.
  16. Salam Everyone, Just curious to see people's opinion about this, I have listed the responses I have usually heard from people in this regard. Your votes will not be public and will only appear as numbers. Inc.
  17. Salaam alaikum I have read hadith or just advice which says a Muslim should wake up with concern for what is happening in the Muslim ummah. I have two questions: 1) What is the best way to do this? 2) How can we help those who are facing oppression? For question 1, in the past I have set up Google alert for key words such as Palestine and Yemen so I directly get emailed articles about what is happening here. For question 2, I often make dua and sometimes donate money. I have thought about attending protests/rallies such as Al Quds too. As a revert, I am reluctant, only because my family are non-Muslim and I worry they will think I am being radicalised or something. I guess overall I am asking what is the best way to at the very least be aware of what is happening. Thank you

  19. Salam alaykum sisters and brothers and Ramadan Kareem! Yesterday I found out methods of Istikhara and how to perform it by doing tasbeeh (counting beads with a rosary). I performed the same night the same method given out by imam Al Mahdi (A.S) and the first time I got an answer telling me to do it (what is on my mind). I performed again (the same method) after and it instead said to not do it. I then a few minutes after performed another method given out by another imam (A.S) which I forgot whom it was and my answer came out to be to do it. And now a day later i performed istikhara a few times with the different methods by different imams and some of the answers were to not do it while others were to do it. I then performed the istikhara given out by prophet Muhammad (A.S) which you get an answer from by opening the Quran after following some other steps and then seeing which sentence you get. I don’t remember which sentence/verse I got but if I would translate it to an answer I would say the answer were to not do it or like to not do something without Allah allowing it. I’m now very confused, shall I do the thing in my mind or not. I don’t remember if I got “do it” most or “do not do it” most. But I think I got “do it” maybe one or two times more than to not do it. Please if anyone knows what you shall do (based on knowledges) can you please advise me? And please brothers and sisters avoiding telling me to not do it only to be on the safe zone because I really want to make my decision but of course seek Allah the almighty’s knowledge and permission first. Jazakhum Allah Khayr o3alaykum alsalam o rahmat Allah o barakato! Here is the link to where all the methods that I performed are: http://www.duas.org/istikhara.htm
  20. I need some help on writing a letter to Imam Mahdi. I want to mention in it that i want him to come back. I also want to mention that I would like to be one of the 50 companions that are womans. Please reply:) Thanks
  21. Salaam alaykum I was reading the Qur'an and came across a verse that I didn't quite understand, heres the verse; Allah eliminates what He wills or confirms, and with Him is the Mother of the Book. [13:39] and in the Quranic text is the actual word used for mother, who is this "mother" that it is refering to?
  22. Salam aleikum What are some good YouTube videos explaining the fundamentals of Islam whether conferences/lectures/sketches. Something with a bit more substance than just bullet points. This should be suitable for those new to Islam with little to no familiarity. Thanks.

  24. Salaam Alaikum brothers and sisters! "But that day belongs to the Lord, the LORD Almighty-- a day of vengeance, for vengeance on his foes. The sword will devour till it is satisfied, till it has quenched its thirst with blood. For the Lord, the LORD Almighty, will offer sacrifice in the land of the north by the River Euphrates." Jeremiah 46:10 Thoughts on this verse? Do you guys think it is in reference to Imam Mahdi (as).
