  1. São Paulo, November 4th, 2013. Starting on Monday, November 4th, 2013, Muslim communities around the world begin the ceremonies of Ashura, which shows their love and fidelity to Islam recalling the tragedy of Karbala, the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), his family and companions in the struggle for justice. The Brazilian Islamic community also follows this tradition in major cities with Islamic presence in the country. Muslims from São Paulo, Curitiba, Foz do Iguaçu and Ponta Porã will gather in their mosques to show their appreciation for the Islamic cause and a great sorrow for the suffering of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Mohammed (SAW), and his followers. Ashura ceremonies take place for ten consecutive nights, until the day of Ashura (14th November, Thursday), where the ceremonies will be in the morning. All supporters of faith, justice and love for Islam are invited to attend the celebrations.
