Greetings, This is not an anti semite topic. I found this when i was looking for reasons of hatred that was directed to jews in Europe. Through studying history, it seems that usury played a key role in this situation. In the old world , there were three major religions :Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The last 2 religions forbade usury. Judaism forbade taking interests from other jews but made it ok to take it from non jews and according to some interpretations, it is an obligation upon a jew to take interest from non jew. In this wiki page, there is a mention of the role of banking in the crusades. But I am very poor in economy and can't get the whole mechanism of how it worked. would someone explain? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_banking
Salam, I strongly believe that economical system of a nation is more important than the political one. So being a muslim I sometimes struggle with finding good structured work about how an Islamic country should economically be. In the Quran we can easily find Ayats that lay the foundation of micro-economical rules in Islam. But what about the whole nation? There is the Khums I know, but how should it be managed ethically and effectively? What about banking and trade? What about the state and the institutions? I know that's a lot but can someone point me to a good site or book that explains the concepts in a more technical way. Thanks for reading.
I have written two articles so far on the subject of monetary reform, to replace and exclude usury. I hope you will find them interesting. Towards a Programme of Monetary Reform Government Finance in a Usury-Free Economy Thank you.
Hello all I have a cousin, in chatting he told me that he has had interest from a foreign exchange company regards a work prospect dealing with clients / customer service . When I was happy for him he seemed hesitant. so I probed, and he started going on about a flawed money system , and it potentially being unislamic to work in such places with a general attitude of not wanting anything to do with this sector . And then came the conspiracy type talk which perhaps may hold some truth , but... Well to me sounded far fetched, he said that his wages could be paid from interest, I dont know how true that is and he can't prove it, I understand working directly with interest would be wrong , but my knowledge of banking/ foreign exchange markets/ economics are not sound or worthy of offering my opinion to him, so I just left the whole topic. Anyone have any knowledge on these systems or in particular foreign exchange market and a good answer to give him, affirming or negating his views as I don't believe he's based his decision on understanding , mA his intentions are noble but I don't want him to miss out on an good opportunity for no reason.
